This is my first build in quite some time! Decided to splurge a bit for a living room VR gaming rig, which I thought would be a good excuse to mess with making a mini ITX build.
General Build Thoughts
The build went mostly smooth, but not without a few issues. I mistakenly purchased a non-AM4 version of the NH-U12S, so I had to buy a mounting kit for it afterwards (AKA waiting a couple additional days). One of the SATA cables that came with the motherboard was defective, and would not let me boot to my OS about half the time.
I grabbed a NF-F12 fan from an existing build to complement the one that came with the NH-u12S for a push-pull setup. (The old build then got a new Noctua redux fan.)
I didn't like the Fractal fan that came with the Core 500 case, so I afterwards ended up using an Amazon gift card that I got (thanks work!) to buy the new Noctua NF-A12x25 fan. (I am a bit of a Noctua enthusiast.)
I purchased an Oculus Rift (not pictured) around the time I started putting the build together, and things are going great with it! I don't really plan on doing any super crazy graphics-intensive games, so the 580 is sufficient so far.
The Ryzen 2600X is a beast, and I love it! I was able to run memory as 3200 MHz with zero problems, so that was great, too. I ran a userbench with this setup, and the results were pretty sweet. :D
What I Would Change
I admittedly didn't research SSDs, and instead just bought one that seemed good enough. If I gave myself a redo, I would end up getting a Crucial MX500 instead. I also wish I didn't make my living room a bit of a mess. Gotta clean up before I post any pictures (if I post any pictures) :P
Other Fun Stuff
A good number of items were purchased when eBay had its 20% off anything sale, which is why some purchase prices are odd. (I also included tax [thanks California], shipping, and rebates on all final dollar amounts.)
Photos were shot by wannabe photographer me on a Samsung NX3000.
Overall, I am super hyped right now, and would love to dive down the rabbit hole of other small form factor builds in the future!
Okay so...I didn't even expect any comments or anything like that. Wow!
Anyway, I haven't changed too much on this recently, although I swapped out the SSD with a Crucial MX500 500 GB, because the old one was pretty trash.
