Description

PC is used purely for Graphic Design. I needed something to be able to do 30Kx30K 300ppi renders in a reasonable time frame, and this is what came out of it. Bought Wood Vinyl Wrap from Amazon, and wrapped the majority parts of the case with it. Not the easiest process, but turned out exactly as I wanted it.

Part Reviews

CPU

Crazy fast. No hiccups and handles every render flawlessly.

CPU Cooler

Phenomenal at cooling, BUT it's pretty noisy when the pump kicks on, and it's not a pleasant noise. Whiny.

Motherboard

Stable, handles all overclocks well, all the connections are conveniently placed, and board is beautiful.

Memory

Works as RAM should, and looks very nice. Sleek dark red is slick.

Storage

3rd one of these SSD's I've bought in the last month for various uses. Everyone is super fast and reliable, have never had an issue.

Storage

Can be a bit noisy, but nothing too terrible! Works well.

Video Card

Photoshop CS6 loves this card. Everything looks beautiful and it runs like a champ. 0 noise unless needed is an added bonus.

Case

Cable management was a dream with the dual-chamber design. Oriented the case technically sideways, and it looks awesome. Also held the vinyl wrap very well.

Power Supply

Runs great, electricity bill actually dropped from previous retail desktop! Runs for about 12 hours a day and does so fantastically. Modular design is a benefit.

Operating System

In my opinion: The best Windows yet.

Case Fan

Silent. Pulls air like no one's business.

Case Fan

Colors are pretty, air flow is great, but does make a tiny bit of noise!

That's a gorgeous look, but the cables need some work. +1

Thank you, and I know. I'm having a hard time trying to find homes for the slight mess without buying extra cables for the PSU.

mlach 4 Builds 2 points 35 months ago

I don't think you'd need the extra psu cables. Although this might take some time, you should be able to kinda tuck some cables around the corner of the motherboard. You may even have to unscrew the board from the standoffs to tuck them under. Either way, take your time and don't rush. This baby will last you a while.

Love the wood vinyl, I may copy the idea +1

Fine by me! This is the vinyl I used. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L9J2WF2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 Just keep in mind that that roll was just enough to cover the whole case, and this is a Micro-ATX case so for a mid or full tower, I would order 2 rolls. Also an 18" ruler, a cutting board, and an Xacto knife came in very handy.

Man that wood look is great. +1

This is brilliant! Well done.

Baby it's classic, it's woodtastic!

this build is siiiiq :). Like madurham84 I am also thinking of stealing this idea. If you wanted to go all out you could vinal wrap your cpu block, and the gpu shroud, and maybe get like brown and black sleeved cables :D.

mmurp30 1 point 35 months ago

Do you think the wrap will peel off over time, or does it feel pretty solid?

mmurp30 1 point 35 months ago

this is like a whole new world of possibilities for cases, could get like red and white wrap for a color themed build, seems like it makes doing a custom case alot more accessible (price wise) if you are prepared to put in the time.

cable management 10/10

Lane_Kerr submitter 1 Build 2 points 31 months ago

Lol I know. It has since been fixed. First build of my life.

Cool concept and great cable management! Quick question: Are you using the case on its side like that? I really am considering the Air 240 with all these set-ups floating around. Yours is the most creative I've seen. Sick build.

Lane_Kerr submitter 1 Build 2 points 29 months ago

Yes I am! The feet come separate so you can orient it in whatever fashion you'd like. Airflow is fine no matter what you do. I did it that way because I wanted the grill to wrap around horizontally and not off to the side vertically, it's much more aesthetically pleasing. The front Corsair logo rotates too so whatever to end on you can make it look like it was intended to be that way. This was the first build of my life, and doing a MicroATX case was hella risky, but the design made it super easy. Only problem I had was squishing down the power cable for the GPU. This 960 is really tall, and the PSU's cables are FAT, so I had to bend and squish until the window finally slid on.

Working on cables now, will update.

Hivon 1 Build 1 point 35 months ago

your case is dual chambered, why not hide the cables in the rear where the psu is?

Jäßßäwöçkëë 3 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Ok am I the ONLY person trying to figure out how you got the CPU for that price? +1 by the way.

Lane_Kerr submitter 1 Build 1 point 35 months ago

Was waiting for someone to ask, lol. Intel Retail Edge - Winter 2015/2016 sale. Only eligible for people who work in retail selling Intel products. Very crazy deals.

Jäßßäwöçkëë 3 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

Yeah makes me want to go work at best buy just for that reason.

Lane_Kerr submitter 1 Build 2 points 35 months ago

That happens to be exactly where I work, lol. I love it.

Lane_Kerr submitter 1 Build 1 point 35 months ago

I was also able to get the 4790K for like $90 but I chose this beast over it.

Lane_Kerr submitter 1 Build 1 point 31 months ago

This absolutely made my night, lol. I have not laughed this hard in a long time. Thank you!

AnimeGamer 1 Build 2 points 31 months ago

LOL thanks makes me feel toasty inside :) XD

NemesisDestiny 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

Really nice job on the vinyl wrap!! I would love this for my HTPC, but I lack the patience for that kind of work.

Any chance I could pay you to do one like that for me? ;)

Lane_Kerr submitter 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

I would be more than happy to but the shipping cost alone might not be worth it depending on where you live. I'm in Ohio.

NemesisDestiny 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

PM'd :)

ÐËÄÐPÖÖL 0 points 35 months ago

Ok I'm just gonna repeat the rest of the community on this one. The build is great but bruh with that case you can't cable manage better seriously?
