Description

Upgraded from my Athlon II X3 435 to this setup and it drastically improved my gaming experience. The Ryzen 7 1700 replaced my bottleneck Athlon II and lets the GTX 1060 go wild.

Thank you for rotating the cpu cooler so the logo is at the top, always annoys me when i see one that's got the logo on the side.

That was the first thing I did before I mounted anything in the case. :)

I like your build man! If you don't mind me asking, why did you choose to splurge on a CPU and not so much on the GPU?

billacuda submitter 1 Build 2 points 12 months ago

I had the GPU on my previous computer for about 2 months and when I realized my CPU (Athlon II X3) was bottlenecking it, I decided to build everything else around it instead of buying another new video card for this build. I got the card for $175 (on Newegg without any rebates amazingly) and there aren't any very good deals on graphics cards right now so I'll wait and upgrade it when the mining craze dies down.

Hows the memory running?

billacuda submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

I am able to get it up to 3066, but 3200 fails. It's Hynix die, not Samsung so that's probably why.

Is that 2 intake, 2 exhaust fans? With the 2 intake on the same side?

billacuda submitter 1 Build 1 point 12 months ago

Yes, 2 intake on the front (2 x 140mm), 1 exhaust on rear (120mm), 1 exhaust on top (140mm).

have you used any editing software? i'm building a similar pc but i'm wondering if the 3gb gtx1060 is enough for 1080p and 4k editing, i know that the ryzen 7 is a best.

I haven't sorry. It does work fine for playing games and streaming 720p60 to Twitch at the same time though.
