Description

So I built this system to test the Pentium G4560 and see if it lived up to the hype as a good budget option for modern day gaming (testing still in progress FYI).

I created a build video on my YT channel that you guys can check out if you want. The benchmark video should follow shortly.

As for the other parts I chose...

The motherboard was provided to me by ASUS, it's got a lot of nice features for a B250 chipset board (all 4-pin fan headers, PCI-E M.2 slot, USB 3.1, Intel Gigabit LAN, two USB 3.0 headers, on-board RGB LEDs) but it is super overkill for this build I have to admit.

The RAM was provided to me by HyperX, I actually have a 2x8GB kit running at 2666MHz but will only be running a single stick for this build. Also I listed the 2400MHz version in my parts list because buying anything higher is a waste.

Used an SSD to keep the system snappy, holds the OS and about 6 games so far.

Used the RX 470 to shoot for 1080p, 60fps performance. Hopefully we should hit that fairly easily in the games I'll be testing.

The BitFenix case was used because it's what I had lying around, thought it'd work quite well considering it cost around $50.

The be quiet! Power Zone PSU was also an extra part I had lying around.

Annnnnnd I think that's about it, let me know what you think!

:EDIT: Benchmarks are up people! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdFZ9tCFjG8

isnt the botherboard kinda overkill? good build otherwise +1

not really, since B250 is the lowest end kaby motherboard out there.

well maybe. its just pretty expensive for the chipset. there are some z270 boards u can get for around the same price

thats totally true, although it really does come with some nice features.

yea i see where youre going. especially if you go with a glass side panel.

i still dont know if i'd use it though. I'm not sure the cost is justified...

but the stock cool ruins it lol

Yeah it is, it'd make more sense to pair with an i5-7500 or something like that but I took what I could get ;)

yea but still a good build for most games today

Dang they're giving you a lot of parts. I'd get in on that if i could...

The goal is to get CPUs and GPUs on launch but that's just a dream at this point lol

that's a dream for pretty much all of us. lol

You know it's an overkill £600 PC when the motherboard is the 2nd most expensive component

Nice build. By the way: is the BitFenix a good case?

It's decent for the price but if you can budget an extra $10-$15 I'd go for something else

+1! Love this build. I always apprecaite a clean, good-looking budget build and this fits the bill. I have my G4560 as well, just waiting for the motherboard and case to complete the build. Very excited for your coming benchmarks!

what motherboard and case are you going with?

This motherboard: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130991&cm_re=b250m-_-13-130-991-_-Product

I was going to paint/mod an older MicroATX case I have laying around but I sort of want to just buy something xD

Just saw your video bro. Nice build. I'd like to copy this build. Do you think it'd be smart if i switched the cpu to the new ryzen though?

  • 1 point

If you wait for some of the cheaper Ryzen CPUs to be released, sure. I wouldn't pair these parts with a 1700/1800X CPU and motherboard though

is it good to go with the 2666 Ram 8gb (2x4) Ripjaw V with the intel pentium g4560 ?

  • 1 point

No, you will only be able to run 2400 or 2133 MHz RAM with this chipset

That is so cool! This shows that you don't need a lot of money to make an awesome pc! Nice job.

Have you noticed the Asus Strix B250F Motherboard Boot_Device_LED stays lit after waking up from sleep mode? Wondering if anyone else having the same issue.

Hello I have made a list on pcpartpicker for my first gaming PC. It is budget and still haven't made the final purchase. Will be waiting a few weeks and ask around IRL and online to get some advice about it.

Here it is: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/BJXhr7

You spent all your budget on a motherboard rather than a better gpu and cpu??!!!!

No, read the description

Good PC, but why chose a $100 motherboard and an SSD and call it "budget"? I think you should've gone for a 1tb HDD and a $70 or $80 motherboard. You would've saved a ton, and could've gotten an i3 6100 instead of a Pentium. Good choice with the RX 470, though!
