Description

My first ever build! I use this mainly for gaming but also as a workstation sometimes. I built it together a long time ago (around November 2015) but I thought I would put it up to see what people's thoughts and recommendations are. I saved up for a long time to do this build, but it was still a budget build. I was able to overclock the 8320 to 4.42 GHz and the MSI Radeon R9 290 to 1069 MHz core clock while still achieving safe temps. This system has smashed through everything I've thrown at it! I would love feedback and recommendations for parts in the future and what I could've done better!

Part Reviews

CPU

Awesome CPU. I was able to overclock to 4.42GHz and I achieved a CinenbenchR15 score of 678 cb. This processor was able to handle everything I threw at it with ease!

CPU Cooler

Pricey but good CPU cooler. Not great aesthetic but I needed it to get the overclock I wanted on my 8320.

Motherboard

Good motherboard. No frills. Not a huge fan of the BIOS though.

Memory

All I really need. If I had done my build more recently I would have chosen DDR4

Storage

Good cheap SSD. A must have in order to get good boot times and quick loading times.

Video Card

Awesome sleep GPU. Overclocked to 1069 MHz core clock. I game at 1080p and it has handled every game I've given it at above 60 fps on the highest settings, even with new titles.

Case

Great case with easy cable management and a sleek design. I actually got the white version but I'm too lazy to go back and change it.

Power Supply

Far surpasses my power needs. I chose this because I was a nervous first time builder and I wanted a modular PSU that I wouldn't have to upgrade for a while.

Optical Drive

It's just an optical drive...

Looks great! You did a great job picking out good parts for the price. Looks awesome! If you don't like the way that cooler looks, just replace that tan fan with a while one. It'll make the computer look so much better.

+1

Why does everyone hate Noctua tan?

Because they're beige

Looks pretty smashin', both price-wise and aesthetically!

Thanks a lot!

Nice build, just might want to replace the NEX power supply with something higher quality. (Well since you already built your PC it's probably not worth replacing but next time you're doing upgrades you could look into that.)
