Description

At it again with a new personal build.

Using old carried over hardware and some new upgrades. I upgraded from a 6600k to a 7700k purely for editing and rendering. Took a while for me to finish this build as I've been so busy with work and it was so hard to find the time to do it. I had to take a day off work to build, drive to ikea to buy a new desk and to set it all up. I got rid of one of my monitors so that both me and my partner can share one desk to save some space and I have to say running one monitor only isn't that bad, thank the gods for alt-tabbing.

notes.

Took me longer to set this whole up because, my dog Bambi kept wanting attention.

I was going to run the 4 ML fans on the rad for push pull config but I couldn't seem to manage to mount the NZXT AER P fans which came with the x52 onto the top and back exhaust fan slots. They came with these rubber grommets to put into the fan but i couldn't securely screw them to the mounts so I just used it as the push on the rad fan config.

Running push pull, and getting a lot better temps with the x52 as compared to my previous h100i v2, got to push the 7700k to 5.0ghz on pretty good temps. The ring rgb is so freaking awesome!

Had to take the cable cover off the case to fit a push pull config on the rads, you can see in the photos. However this just took me longer to do the cable management since I pretty much had to hide what the cable cover hides, luckily there was just enough space. THE NZXT ELITE IS THE ABSOLUTE BOMBDIGITY, and ive worked and built in so many cases, I gotta say the elite is on the top of my list right now.

Im upgrading to a 1080ti, either a strix or and ICX when I get a bit more funds and hand down the 1070 to my partner for her pc. / which cant be seen on the photo's but its on one of ikea table FINNVARD trestle that has a shelf on it.

The Strix z270e's RGB on the coverplate is cool, however the white is not a true white and ends up being baby blue. which sucks :(, the onboard wifi is great though! Getting the same speeds and connection as when i previously had it on wired.

Anyways have a great day everyone & thank you for taking the time to check out my build!

This is grrrrrrrrreat! This deserves to be featured for such a beautiful build and setup. Despite all the minor setbacks you mentioned plus especially making time for this, even when Bambi was desiring for your attention, it looks absolutely gorgeous. May you enjoy your build and IKEA desk for a long time. You have my one and support.

This is awesome!

I just swapped my current build into this case today and wanted to look at what other people are doing in it. This is my favorite so far! Good work! And I feel you regarding the blue-ish tint in white LED's. The "white" lights in my cablemod RGB strips are tinted blue.

I love the lighting in your build and I would just like to ask are the fans responsible for that or is it mainly the led strip you have around the rim of the case because I i am doing a similar build and plan to use nzxt rgb fans whih are just a ring but at the same time I really want to have the same lighting atmosphere as your build as it really brings out the components rather then looking like a RGB mess wit flashing colours which just blind you like a lot of PC's these days what do you reckon end I Do I am in need of advice

  • 1 point

Hey Aresh I hope im not too late with this reply. Its not the fan, however it does have white led's but the main lighting all through out the pc is from the nzxt hue+

However I would advise you to go through with the AER NZXT'S so you have more head room for customising the look of your build. paired with NZXT HUE+, im not sure if the NZXT AER RGB Fans white's are true whites. but the hue+ led's sure are.

And i absolutely agree with you with the RGB craze atm, its just too much and a complete mess.

  • 1 point

You are not too late and thanks for the advice and I think I will go through with the are rgb fans and the hue+ when I get a bit more money but until that happens I think i will just get white led strips and again great job on the build your use of lighting is classy and refreshing while it also brings out you parts. Looking forward to your next build :)

SHOCK-N-AWESOME build bro! ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!

SNAP too...my build is almost the same as yours (currently sitting in a parts list lol) https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/z8fzgL. I'm still waiting for Evgas aftermarket 1080ti cards and as such the full purchase is on hold...a long hold :(

I have to ask, how did you manage to connect 6 fans? Were these all supported by the mobo with splitters?

Whats your take on the mobo rgb header?

  • 1 point

mate. pricing just dropped for the top line aftermarket evga 1080ti, its steeeeeeeepppppp. haha I may not upgrade till a while bro. $1400 AUD!?!?! haha

I have a 2 way splitter for both the exhaust fans. so they run the same speed. as for the radiators 4 fans, the krakens have 4 way cpu fan splitter instead of the regular 2 on the corsair AIO's. which is absolutely amazing on their half. I still got 5 fan headers free on the mobo :)

Its a hit and miss for the RGB header as cool as it is to completely sync everything to one platform. the platform asus aura is crap. thats why I did not opt to get the cablemod LED strips which works on the aura headers. theres not much flexibility on the software with effects etc. hopefully in the future they will update the software with cooler and more hue+ like effects

Theres still so much more flexibility on the light effects and color mix on the hue + and thats why I kept with the hue+, and also syncs well with the kraken's lighting as you can see and I absolutely love NZXT's CAM software.

  • 1 point

1400 AUD = £816. DAMN!!!! There is no MERCY lol I can't believe i'm spending so much on my first build, started off with a £1400 budget 6 months ago, today it sits at around £2800...the madness!

For my rear and top fan, im going for the AER RGB fans from NZXT with HUE+.

For the CPU cooler I want to add the same 2 additional fans as you have on the rad. So I take it the 2 splitters come with the kraken cooler? Also I thought the mobo demands that the CPU_FAN header has to be used - is that correct? Sorry a complete noob here - wanna get everything spot on!

  • 1 point

yeah, so the splitter for the kraken connects straight to the cpu fan header. that splitter is one on one end which you connect to CPU_FAN which then splits to 4 inputs where you can connect your 4 radiator fans. :)

Once youve built the PC thats not the end, its a bit hard to have self control to not keep buying parts for it and upgrading constantly and buying new peripherals.

  • 1 point

Excellent! I was a little confused earlier...that clears it right up!

Why did you go for x52 and not x62 the price difference is very small

more 240 rad support on cases.

So wait, you and your partner can use that one PC at the same time like it's two separate desktops? How?

Looking at the parts does that board not require a sound card. I'm asking because I'm going to be building my first PC and I'm thing about using that board as well.

  • 1 point

No, the built in sound solution is good enough. However I use an external sound solution.

Correct. since most of the heat comes from the area right on top of the GPU, the front fans pushes air in to that area and the 2 exhaust help dissipate the heat from that area.

Yes absolutely, runs everything great, 60+fps on 1440p. Im not even sure why I need to upgrade to a 1080ti. Feel like its just my pc subconsciousness telling me that its never going to be enough.

And thank you. NVIDIA hairworks doing its thing ;)
