Do your viz programs favor multi-core or single-core? I'm going into college to study viz and I'm just thinking ahead

My understanding is Sketchup & Lumion only use one core but I haven't looked into the multi-core utilization of anything else yet.

Thanks! Working on deciding if I'll just bump my 6600k up to the 6700k or if I should go all-in with a Ryzen 7 and a new mobo
