Description

Welcome.

After the sale of my old system I decided to put the money towards something that I want to keep for a while and progress with. So here it is. With the only regret being getting a non modular/braided cabled PSU :/

Decided to go with an i7 6700k just because developers are finally starting to take advantage of the extra cores avaliable (just look at BattleField 1) and I could, so I did. Paired up with the EVGA 1070 FTW it's a great combo to run my 29in 2560x1080 21:9 monitor.

Again I got 16GB of ram just because it is starting to be more and more utilised.

Never really thought much of AsRock in the past, but saw some pretty good words being said about this board. Has plenty of features, dual bios, m.2 NVME, and great overclocking support. Managed to get the i7 up to 4.6ghz stable and just under 1.34v. Which is all kept under 65oc with the Corsair H115i featuring two 140mm LED fans.

Was a little bit skeptical about the Crucial SSD as I have never used any of their products before. What I can say is I'll definitely be using them again. Much faster than my old 250GB 850 EVO drive.

Finally on to the important bit the GPU. What a beast of a card. Plays all my games in ultrawide no problems hitting 100fps+ out of the box. Makes me want to get a 144hz monitor now....... Boosts up to around 1988mhz at 70oc without touching anything. Will sit a 2ghz when the fan profile is set a bit more aggressive.

All in I'm very happy with the build, looks fantastic in the Fractal Design Define C. Hopefully room for a custom watercooling loop in the coming year ;)

Thanks for looking Matthew

Looks very nice you did a good job. How much faster is your crucial ssd compared to the 850 evo you had?

Thank you, I tried :)

In terms of stats and figures no idea, although it boots up a noticeable amount quick (A good 2 seconds at least?) and the whole computer just feels a whole lot snappier.

Looking forward to seeing that custom loop, nice build :)

How many millimeters is your PSU? I really want this case, but don't know if my PSU will fit.

It's 140mm long not including any cables. There is a huge amount of room in the basement for PSUs. You could probably fit any ATX PSU in there :)

I manage to fit a EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G1 PSU 180mm (L) PSU and it barely fit but you wont be able to move the 3.5 drive cage, so a smaller will give you more space, but you can fit a 180mm (I would say that this is the maximun, don't try to go for a longer than that trust me.) If your PSU is less than 180mm you should be fine. My is really tidy

pd. I haven't post this update of my pc, so if you check I'll have another case on my build. I'll be posting probably next week, need to make some changes.

Why are the white LED Corsair fans blue? :D Awesome looking build though!

That's just the camera doing that because of low light levels around it. They're bright white in reality.

Thank you :)

Thanks for posting this build! I had been waiting for someone else to try and fit a 280 AIO into the Define C before I pulled the trigger. I had been worried about GPU length, but it looks like there's plenty of space.

No wories :)

Fit's in the front quite well, although doesn't even come close to fitting in the top. RAM gets in the way even with low profile sticks.

My card length is around 267mm long, theres about another 20mm space before you hit the fans :)

Thank you for this build. I want build something similar (define c + h110/115), but on AMD.
