Description

This will be my second build. The first one that i did were a long time ago during the time Athlon and Pentium 4 era and mine was actually Athlon 64 when i was still in the Philippines.

This computer will be used for every thing that i will be needing it to do games, video editing, programming and everything in between.

What the ****, people and these ram coolers, ****** nice but sheesh, making me jealous

To be honest with you i just wanted to try how it performs inside my case but decided to return it. When i was doing some test somehow this cooler disrupts the airflow (coming from the front fan) inside my case making the temperature of the video card and inside the case a bit more higher with out it. I guess it somehow cools the RAM but affected some other areas inside the PC.

Will be posting the updated pictures soon since i changed some of the parts that i have recently. Thanks for the comment.

There's a 1070 in the list but a 1080 in the picture. Just an error I noticed.

Nice build, anyways!

Sorry for that! Initially my plan was getting at least the EVGA GTX 1070 but when a sale came up i jumped into EVGA GTX 1080FTW but was not able to update my list here. Will be updating the list. Thanks for noticing.

This is extremely eye pleasing. The theme has fantastic execution, and your cable management is A1. Makes my OCD happy. Great job my friend, got my +1!

nice pc but the setup by itself is kinda a piece of garbage

Well everybody has their own right to put whatever they want on their computer so i'm happy with what i have and i guess you too.

There's a number of things I don't understand with this build.

  1. Parts list has 1070 FTW, but pictures show a 1080 model.
  2. Assuming the part's actually is a 1080, a 1080p 60hz screen is incredibly underwhelming. A 1080p 120hz, or 1440p 60hz screen suites the 1080 much better.
  3. The motherboard choice just seems really off. The formula's VRM is set up to be cooled by a waterblock, presumably by the same custom loop cooling the CPU. While VRM doesn't really get that hot, and even an empty waterblock is likely still good enough to cool it with adequate airflow; the CPU is watercooled, so the VRM doesn't benefit from the residual airflow from an air CPU cooler. It's probably not an issue, but there really are other options that would both perform better, and be cheaper.

Besides the issues I have; the build does look really nice. The ram cooler is probably one of the best looking pieces of the interior. It works really well with the exposed side of the heatsink fins on the GPU, IMO.

To answer your question.

  1. I think i already made a comment on this above.

  2. I know the screen is somewhat off on this build but i'm just putting in what i currently have setup at the moment and will be updating it soon once i have the cash for it.

  3. It's just a matter of preference for me.

I did a quick glaze through the comments, and missed where you explained the 1070/1080; but you clearly did. Sorry about that.

The screen makes sense; I just just hope it doesn't take too long to raise the funds. a really solid GPU with a non-demanding screen is really off-putting to me, for some reason.

Fair enough. Out of curiosity, why did you prefer the formula to the code? Do you plan on making a custom loop, or is there actually some feature that's not present on the code that you make use of?

Edit; also while reading through, found the part where you explained that the RAM cooler was removed because it actually hurt temps. I can't fathom how it disrupted airflow enough to make a negative difference, but it's too bad it did. It looked pretty cool.

I know what you mean having a nice video card to be put in a crappy monitor is kinda off in a sense and not able to make the most out of it. Still saving for it though and hopefully the wife will not borrow my money again which was the case for this build.

Your right that's the exact reason why i prefer the formula over the code for future plans (or future proofing it) somewhere along the road.

Well, that pretty much answers all my questions. Thanks for taking the time; and good luck with getting your build to a level you can call 'complete'.

With regards to the RAM cooler, yes i did return it because for some reason when i'm using my computer (watching youtube and surfing in my room) with it the VC temps will be 48 degrees C and a case temps of about 35 degrees. So i was curios if taking the RAM cooler would make any difference and it did VC temps is now running around 41-44 degrees and the case temp at about 32-33 degrees. I think it has something to do with the flow of air coming from the front fans being blocked a bit by this.

All I have to say is wow. The second I saw this build I fell in love. I've been looking for a build and trying to customize it for my needs and the second I saw this I was like, this is it. Cool color design, amazing cable management and great specs. Im working on a 1500 budget and managed to get mine, based off this build, under my budget, while keeping the color scheme. Thanks for indirectly helping me for what I'm looking for :D

Thanks! I'm just wondering how my build somehow helped you with your build?

Well Ive been looking for a build for college and I'm majoring in audio engineering and I also wanna mess around with some video editing and I've never built a computer before so I've been trying to put parts together and ask my friends but I feel like I haven't been like putting the right parts together so it looks nice and clean. I felt like I wasn't doing something right or the design of mine would look bad, but then I saw this build I immediately fell in love and thought that this is what I wanted to build.
