Built this as a general content creation machine, and possibly a little gaming (Civ 5, Bioshock, nothing too crazy).
This being my first build I took extra care and time to make sure I was picking the right parts or actually building the machine correctly. I think it came out great, my cable management could use some work and I think I might actually replace a few with shorter and specialized cables so that should help.
There are a few weird things about this case but other than those the case is perfect for what I needed. The major being the power cable to the motherboard has to be smashed behind the hard drive cage so I plan to figure out a better way to re-route cleanly.
I have yet to overclock anything as of yet, I wanted to make sure everything was running smoothly – I've been using OSX for years and years due to my job and so I wanted to make sure I can always switch over to that environment.
That is my next goal, I'll have OSX boot from the SSD and Windows for the Black Drive. I want to keep them separate in case I totally screw the hackintosh bit up.
Overall I'm happy with it so far, my poor laptop will stop being tortured now and I'll actually be able to work from home a bit.
I'll update temps and all that when I get everything good to go.
