Description
Hello everyone! Welcome to my first PC build. I built this rig to tackle Video Editing, Audio Editing, and of course, Gaming, all the while I travel on the airplane every 4 months. I needed to build something super powerful that can fit inside my backpack so I can take it with me as a carry-on. And it worked! Enjoy this Completed Build, hoorah!
Silverstone RVZ03B
Before you decide to buy this case, make sure you have small hands and a ton of patience. I spent 3 full months on research all over official websites, forums, Youtube videos ect. just so I can be 100% sure that all the parts I want to buy fit inside. Let me tell you this, even after stressing like crazy and calling the customer service of Silverstone to double check compatibility some parts just did not want to fit.
Overall, this is a very neat case, and even though it does take some effort to build inside it, the feeling afterwards is glorious. I have successfully loaded all my parts inside, and now I have this tiny black thing that I can take with me on the plane in a backpack. And let me tell you, this small black thing SMASHES everything you throw at it. The case has super bright RGB at the front, so if you're not a big fan of having your whole damn room house lit up like the Police just rolled up on you, you will probably turn it off like I did.
AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7GHz 8-Core
I had a very hard time choosing between an i7-8700k and this. But for a workstation its better to have more cores than more powerful cores. I have to say, I never had AMD before and was afraid to leave my good ol' faithful (Intel) behind. But let me tell you folks! There is nothing to be afraid of! Embrace AMD and get awesome power for $100 less! I am VERY happy with this CPU, GTA V uses only 3% of it, and I haven't seen it go over 10% usage yet, the temperatures stay at 38 idle to 55 under load. I am still to start editing on it, but so far so good. I really recommend this to everyone that is on the line between Intel and AMD, this is the better choice!
Cryorig C1
Oh boy, here we go, this is actually the only part that did not fit properly and gave me a lot of trouble. I spent about 3 hours JUST on this part. There was absolutely NO space between my Power Supply and my Motherboard and therefore this cooler didn't want to fit, in the end, after trying a couple configurations I made it fit. BUT even though the heat-sink itself fit inside, the fan on top of the heat-sink did not! I had to grab a hacksaw and literally cut a big chunk of the plastic around the fan off. Now my fan is protected from three sides, and is missing one whole side. But it works, and cools my CPU to stay at 38c idle so I can't complain. The CPU during a stress test went to 72c max, but average was 68c.
Asus ROG STRIX X470-I GAMING
It is a very neat motherboard, I haven't had any issue with it at all, it has everything you need, everything fits nicely. The only thing is that the whole board has awesome RGB that is buried so deep inside my case that I don't even see it at all. Which is a shame.
G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3200
This ram is the BOMB, it fits together with this massive CPU cooler if you have the cooler in the right orientation. (Facing away from the RAM and the Powersupply.)
Samsung 970 Evo 1.0TB M.2-2280 SSD
This SSD absolutely smashes everything, combined with 32GB of RAM I install everything in seconds. All the programs that took AGES to install on my 7 year old laptop were installed in a mere 40 seconds, and 1TB is a pretty good storage size. I still want MORE but it is definitely enough.
Seagate FireCuda 2TB 2.5" 5400RPM Hybrid
This storage is both fast, and very big, I can dump all my loose files, and videos, pictures ect. on that and keep my SSD only for Windows and Programs.
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 8GB GAMING OC
Finally here, the RTX 2080, honestly Amazon took it's sweet time to delay my order by half a month but whatever. RTX 2080? Silverstone Mini ITX? IT FITS! Runs alright so far, I am happy, check out the benchmarks in the pictures. The Gigabyte version of this RTX feels sturdy, looks good, cant be happier. When I play games on Ultra settings for an hour or more the GPU temps only go up to 55-57c max. After a 3D Mark 11 test (screenshot in pictures) the temps barely went above 50c. The GPU during the stress test went up to 72c but averaged at 69c.
EVGA SuperNOVA G3 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX
This PSU has enough power for everything, comes packaged very neatly, in a box, and then in a little pouch. Has tons of cables with it, and I didn't even use half of them. I am very happy with it and wouldn't buy anything else. It is a tight fit with the Motherboard though and takes a while to figure everything out. But the Silverstone case comes with a little installation guide for all the components so that helps a lot.
Thank you all so much for reading, and good luck in your builds! I am very happy with mine. If you have any questions hit me up in the comments.
Part Reviews
CPU
Very happy with this product, wasn't sure if I want to give AMD a chance or go with Intel like always, but let me tell you, AMD is the bomb, if you are also undecided what to choose, think no more! This CPU slaughters Video editing and Gaming alike, even Internet Explorer works a bit faster on this.
CPU Cooler
This is a great cooler overall, even though it did not fit my Silverstone RVZ03B Mini ITX without me cutting most of the plastic off with a hacksaw I am sure it will fit larger builds. It keeps my CPU nice and cool, and it looks pretty nice too.
Motherboard
Very nice, looks nice, has RGB, I am very happy with this. everything just clicks on, even though it doesn't have USB-C it has USB 3.1 Gen 2 which is good too.
Memory
Do you like SPEED? Get this RAM ASAP. I am very satisfied with this purchase, it is a low profile RAM that fits small builds nicely and RIPS (Ripjaws heh) through anything and everything you throw at it.
Storage
Much fast, such speed, very storage. I am indeed very impressed with this SSD, I feel like I am doing everything at the speed of light.
Case
Very decent, nice looking case, but BEWARE people with big hands and small amounts of patience, this case will be your demise. Hard to build in, but the end result is very satisfying. Fits in a big backpack and I can take it with me as a carry-on for plane flights.
Power Supply
EVGA EVGA EVGA, that is all I will buy from now on, I am very happy with this power supply, not only is it packaged so so nicely first in a box and then in its own little personal pouch, but also has enough power for pretty much anything. It comes with a LOT of cables, I haven't even used half of them for my build, 10/10 recommend.
Keyboard
Decent Keyboard, the RGB is only red, and to be honest, I should have checked other keyboards before this, I went to Target and already found something that suits me better, but if you want a quiet keyboard, this is for you! I am not disappointed in it, but I realized I prefer feeling the clicks.
