Description

Hey PCPP Community,

Project Dynasty was initiated when I wanted to share the passion, and joy of PC gaming to my friends, families and wider relatives. As it is coming closer to 2018 Chinese New Year, I wanted to create an oriental red/gold themed build that will be passed around from friend, to neighbor, to family to enjoy playing games on the big TV to their desires during the festive period.

Build Overview

Cables used are the CableMod Modmesh Red Full PSU replacement cables. I really liked how they turned out, they are bright, vibrant and extremely high quality. They are complemented with gold cable combs.

Coolant and fittings are from EKWB, with their gold/blood red combo.

Waterblock is a EKWB Asus M8G monoblock that has been painted metallic red.

Heatsinks on the dominator platinum as well as rear PCIE brackets are all painted in metallic red. The light spread module inside the RAM has also been painted transparent amber.

Some acrylic pieces are used to complement the cable routing/cable management in an oriental pattern theme.

Part list prices have been updated to reflect the ORIGINAL RRP, most parts have been accumulated over the past few years.

Thank you for the kind words. Hopefully the end users (Friends/family/neighbours) would actually use it for what it is intended for, and not just hang it up for display haha.

  • 1 point

You are most welcome. Oh my, it would be unfortunate if this was used as display only. Being used is what it's meant to be yet at the same time to appear lovely and appreciated.

This is fantastic, a custom themed case mod in its glory. Everything is well done. The GPU backplate for a Titan X on a 980ti kinda threw me, but it's minor and barely noticeable. +1

  • 2 points

Thanks! Haha the titan x Maxwell waterblock is trippy I agree. Back then I don't remember seeing dedicated 980 ti waterblocks from EK (or I was just blind), but the titan x was literally the same thing as the 980ti with the exception of a few more cuda cores and 6GB more vram, so the card was practically identical in waterblock compatibility.

Cheers! :)

Indeed, there are so many possibilities to execute an oriental theme. However I just had to pick one haha otherwise I would never be able to decide which one to go for.

Nice! What GPU brace is that? It looks very sturdy.

  • 2 points

Thanks! Its an ASUS TUF series GPU anti sag support bracket that comes with selected TUF motherboards. I received mine from an x299 TUF Mark 1 board.

It is indeed, albeit a bit small compared to custom gpu braces, it is all metal and was definitely needed to prevent such a heavy waterblock on the gpu from sagging.

  • 1 point

I certainly did! (the building part at least), the planning phase was a nightmare as I couldn't decide between the endless possibilities of an oriental theme. I had to finally force myself to go one route otherwise the build will still be sitting in my workshop untouched haha.

Thanks again! :)

You crushed it! +1 Holy crap man! Where do I start!?! This rig is showcased beautifully with high quality shots that you don't see every day on pcpp. The components in this artwork are semi-solid, I would say the only non-overkill part that everyone drools over is your gpu but I will give credit for intelligently using a gtx 900 series card in one of the most effective ways! An to top things off, your loop is mind boggling! That is the most perfect use of yellow/golden fittings I've ever seen to date! The mix of colors is also something to take note of, because WOW did you nail the theme down incredibly! All in all, this rig is exceptionally beautiful and is the core reason of why pcpp is around, to display wondrous works of power combined with art for the world to glorify! Just do me a favor, give yourself a nice big pat on the back, because my god do you deserve a lot of those! Have a great day & keep on building!!!

Also, damn, what a PSU. I like it lol

I like it too, especially the anodized aluminium red top and tempered glass front. I hope in the future more PSUs can follow a similar trend.

I love the way you have this layout. I was a bit confused on how the loop went but I see what you did with that bottom one. Very clever and clean. Love the colors!! Have you thought about using gold cooling liquid for next time?

  • 2 points

Thanks! Yeah originally I was planning to use primochill powder red vue or their yellow vue, quoted an ETA of 11th January at my local retailer but got notified that stock never came in and still hasn't even today so quite a bummer here in Australia. The cryofuel still looks awesome though so I'm ok with it.

-1 for dust lol, Am I the only OCD mutha fuka to notice it. It bugs me bro, I love this build!!! Cheers!!!!

  • 1 point

Haha that's a very legitimate reason to be concerned about in an open air case. From my experience, dust that settles on the parts can just be blown off :D. But hey I agree with you and open air chassis is not for everyone :)

Thanks nonetheless, appreciate your comment :)

Totally agree, open air cases are really a love or hate situation, and I wouldn't really recommend them to others.

I personally enjoy building in them, but hate managing hazards (dust, moths, animals) afterwards haha.

Thankfully, none of these open air builds are used for long term purposes.

Thanks again :)

I have 2 dogs and 2 cats, and 2 open air machines. As long as you arent storing your PC on the floor, never a problem. In fact, I actually have cleaned my Wall mounted Core P3 FAR less than any enclosed case I have had. The only real area of dirt it between the fans and the Rad on my AIO. Brush that out every 5 months and Voila. LOVE open air cases.
