Description

Update:

I removed the heatsinks from the RAM, they are now a black color that matches the build quite well

http://imgur.com/SnZbkU4

I built this for gaming as well as photo/video editing for work

The case is great, it's very quiet and can barely be heard unless closer than 1-2' from the case, it's extremely solid feeling and has no flex or rattle at all

If I did the build again I would chose a video card with a larger cooler on it to reduce the noise, since the EVGA card is the single loudest component in the system now

Some of the parts are leftover from my old PC, like the SSD/HDDs

(Note: in some of the pictures of the desk you can see my old case, a HAF 932, the pictures were taken before I did this new tower build)

Nice, very clean looking! Should have gone with black RAM instead of blue.

Haha I know, I wish I had thought of that before I bought it

I may remove the heat spreaders, g.skill RAM is usually black underneath

Huh, I never knew that. Good luck!

On a scale of one to ten, how much difference does the heat spreaders make?

...wait, did you say hyper-x? You have G-Skill Ripjaws X listed.

I hate how with that graphics card the power connecters are in the middle of it. Why cant a company just put them on the end so you dont have to go all the way around the end of the card?

  • 4 points

Yeah a lot of them are like that now, I don't understand why..

I might make a custom extension cable that's more compact/nicer looking to run to the card from behind the motherboard

Sexy Build. Maybe I could bring my comp over for a play date?

Better you bringing yours than me hauling this thing!, it weighs quite a bit more than my old case did

Super super super clean. Very nice. Almost a shame there is no window on that case to show off your hard work, but you know it's there :D

I don't know how you feel about it, but it looks like you have room to move all your HDDs and SSD to the upper cage which would allow you to remove the lower cage entirely -- it can look pretty slick if you have enough room to route cables properly. Regardless, it still looks amazing the way it is. I love how the Sabertooth makes good cable management even better.

Definitely an upvote from me!

Peep my build if you're interested . . . Sabertooth as well. And you're not lying about EVGA's 670 . . . suckers are flipping loud.

Very nice! Is your monitor on the case?

That's my amplifier, the case is on the floor out of view in the pictures (hard to get a picture of everything together)

For all the money spent, you probably could've done better but this is still a great build.

I'd love any suggestions you have, or if you have a saved build on here I'd like to see it, less money is nice

Should I? I mean, you already built this :p

Sure, I can always use it to give better advice to friends and stuff

How come you didn't buy a cpu cooler but very nice cable management.

  • 1 point

I may in the future, it cools the CPU well enough but the noise level can be annoying under load

  • 1 point

Extremely clean, with great cable management. Are you planning on replacing the stock cooler?

  • 1 point

I'm in the process of researching a new one now, I want to replace it purely for noise reduction

Very enviable cable management! Great, clean build!

I agree on the video card I love the msi cards with the twin fans. they run very cool and I cant even tell they are running under load. I do like this build tho

  • 2 points

I believe you're mistaken: The video card listed and shown in the build is EVGA.

mini I was saying I believe what hes saying about the evga card being loud. and was saying that I believe MSI makes a better card

Hey should I go with the EVGA 670 FTW or another 670. I know that the 670 FTW is just like a stock 680, but I would like a quiet build.

  • 1 point

If you want quiet don't go with EVGA, the coolers are very loud

There are other brands with much larger coolers on them that will be quieter

just out of curiosity, why didn't you get a Samsung 840 pro for your ssd? Overall awesome build.

When I bought the SSD the samsung didn't exist yet, the 840P would be my choice if I needed another

ohh thanks for clearing that up

great job. Why not get one faster 3tb hard drive instead of one fast 1tb and a slower 2tb. It would have been cheaper. great cable management. Also love the leds.

  • 1 point

The two harddrives are actually several years old, I kept them from my old build

WD drives are extremely reliable it seems!

What is the light behind the monitor you are using?

  • 1 point

Clean build. I have a Fractal R4 on the way for my new build. You cits show I made a good choice!

BTW- Noticed you have the case lying on the side. Any problems with running it that way? Did you add any rubber feet to the side of the case? Does the front door open with any problems?
