Description

Started with the case which I found being sold for $15 on Craigslist, it’s in fair shape despite the front USB ports not working and some light cosmetic problems.

After that, I picked up a computer awhile back on Craigslist for $100 which had the ram and hyper 212 I’ve put in this, I basically stripped the hyper 212 and ram off that build I bought and then put in 4gb and a stock cooler to replace em and resold it for $250 so I’m essentially also gaining the 8gb ram and hyper 212 for free.

The hard drive came next, it’s actually a 160gb Drive and not 250gb. I found it refurbished being sold for $9.99 on a Newegg flash sale and quickly picked it up, I originally bought 3 and was gonna raid 0 2 of them but I wasn’t expecting myself to be building more computers so since I don’t have any spare drives, I’ve just decided to throw this in.

I then came across an rx 560 being sold for $70 last night and he also had the mobo/cpu and power supply I am using in this build. I offered $140 for all the parts and he accepted so I quickly got home last night and put this system together.

I love salvage builds like this. I'm doing a similar one with an A10-5700/ 8GB ram/1tb HDD prebuilt system I got for cheap, and an RX 460 (fingers crossed, local bid site is only at $51 CAD right now).

Nice scavenge! One of my favorite hobbies. What Craigslist marketplace are you in?

I'm in the Bay Area and the listings have been pretty dry or snatched up quickly around here due to mining recently. A $70 RX 560 would be a godsend right now haha.

Bay Area? I mean I live in Green Bay, WI if that’s what you’re referring to, it’s been pretty dry too besides having a bunch of overpricing parts but at least once a week, you’d find something worth snatching. I’m actually about to go pick up another system tomorrow for $200 haha, it’s a Dell Optiplex with an i5-6500, 8gb ddr4, 2tb hdd, 256gb m.2 ssd, I’ll most likely rip the 2 hard drives and put in my last raptor drive in and hope to find a cheap gpu and reflip it for my money back

AY, fellow Wisconsinite! Yeah, Craigslist is where it's at for awesome deals on parts. I picked up a system the other day with an i5 4670k, 12 gigs of ram, GTX 780, SSD + HD, 850 watt PSU, and a 212 Evo, in a custom case for a whopping $400 earlier this week. I felt like a king. Oh, and a month or two ago I picked up a GTX 980 ti for $260, still giddy about that one!
