Description

This was my complete build for video editing and 3d animation. Tried to chose reasonable priced products with good quality. Ended up painting the included fan rings to match the power supply. Think it turned out pretty good. :)

Yeah I agree with the others, there are way better 650w PSU's than the RM series. And the V300 looses writes speeds dramatically after a while, just an overall bad drive (that's why they're so cheap).

But the 970 is not a waste of money, don't listen to him.

I second the 970... it's a beast of a card for both 1080p and 1440p

Yeah fanboys of either side coming in comments telling people they wasted their money makes me want to claw my eyes out.

Why was the RM650 a bad choise...?

For the money it uses second rate capacitors and it's power delivery is subpar again, for the money.

Much better choices that use great Japanese capacitors and a much better power delivery system for the same cost, if not cheaper.

What would you recommend for delivering around 600-800W?

Personally, I use the 750w EVGA G2. But basically anything by seasonic, xfx, etc would be ideal, as they all use high quality components (most xfx stuff is just rebranded seasonic stuff so there ya go).

Looks great, the yellow really works well! However, I think a Gigabyte Z97-UD5 would of been better.

Yeah, because I chose 2 colors that happended to be on another system that makes me a copycat...? Wasn't going for matched colors. Just ended up spray painting the fan rings to match the PSU

Nice! I like the color scheme, and you won't be disappointed with the 970.

GIGABYTE Z97 UD3H wouldve been the best looking motherboard for this build. Also a GTX 980 Lightning or a 780/Ti Lightning or a R9 290X Tri-X would've fit the colour scheme a bit more.

Actually wasn't trying to go with a color theme. Just ended up paiting the fan rings and change the cpu coolers lights. :)

Was going for low power consumption and low noise to go together with low temperatures. Also had a great deal at my retailing store for the GPU, motherboard, CPU and ram

These were just suggestions if you were going for the performance to aesthetics ratio, but I guess you cant say no to a good deal on those parts.

my firt build so have nothing to compare it to. Everything went smooth and it everything works great apart from the HDD led that is supposed to be flickering but does in a weird way while making sounds... Don't know why

I i had the budget for an 5960x i would have gone with it. Undortunatly i had to stay under a pricepoint :/

I did a ton of research before I settled on it. Both works great and I could only find great reviews of them on the internet. If you're right, please give me a source for your information

Thanks man. I might go into upgrading the PSU since everyone seems to be worried about it :). I work in the adobe master suite with programs as premier pro, after effects, photoshop, audition and illustator. But I also tend to do alot of work in Maya, 3ds max and Mudbox. I'm only 17 so I haven't really done anything spectacular. Just enjoy making movies with friends and helping my father out with work from time to time :)

Adobe have an awesome discount if you're stydying. So I get the whole suite for ony around 15 bucks a mounth here in sweden and it works flawless! Heard alot of great thing about Sony vegas too, actually tried it at an occasion though I really like the adobe dynamic link that is integrated in to the adobe suite. You should check it out though It really doesnt matter what program you use. As long as you know you're way around it and feel confortable using it.

How come you work in Sony Vegas. Is it for work or just a really fun hobby? :)

How is 970 a waste of money? Over a 290x too? Explain

Yeah, really.

comparing the 290 vs the 970 is splitting hairs..I have both, they are very similar. you can save a few bucks on the AMD but not to the extent that going 970 is a "waste"

Also, the power consumption and heat output of the 290 or 290x are higher than the 970. May have been a factor for him.

correct you are sir!

Getting a 970 is not a waste but it would been COST EFFICIENT if he got a R9 290X Tri-X just because its cheap and yellow.
