Built for working in a home studio for music production. It sits under my desk, so being quiet was a consideration and the reason for most part decisions. Now that it's together I can tell you it is barely audible, if at all, above the ambient noise of the room. I'll give a rundown of the thought process for each part below.
CPU: I chose the 3800X for the extra horsepower at stock speeds, as I do not intend to overclock. The stock fan is quiet enough. I can't hear it outside the case, even under load.
Motherboard: To be honest, I chose this part because it's what my local Canada Computers had in stock, and it has two more USB ports than most B450 boards I was looking at. Canada Computers updated the BIOS and seated the CPU for me, which made my life easier.
Ram: This was the lowest cost at the speed (3200) and amount (32gb) that was available on the day I ordered it.
Storage: I knew I wanted an NVME drive for my OS and programs, and the Intel was a low cost option with good reviews.
Video Card: I chose this card because I only use this computer for audio production with one monitor at 1080p. If you are doing anything else, I would recommend spending more here. The fact that it is fanless is a plus for me.
Case: I chose this case based on many youtube reviews. It is very solid and the fans are quiet enough for me. There is tons of space if I want to add more drives or a larger GPU in the future.
Power Supply: I chose the G3 for it's Eco Mode feature. The fan only spins when needed. I chose the 650, so that I would be less likely to hit that threshold during normal use.
Using the 3800X in my music production PC with no complaints. Not overclocking and it is very stable.
Working well with my 3800X and 32gb of ram. No issues so far.
Working for me with no issues. What more can you ask for?
Good cost to performance ratio. I'm using it as a boot drive in my music production setup.
Silently runs my 1080p monitor for my music production PC. Just what I wanted. If you are doing anything other that that you might want to spend a bit more.
Bought this based on many positive reviews. It works for me. Very quiet. The foam inside seems to do a good job of dampening the vibrations caused by the fans. Feels very sturdy. It's large and easy for a beginner like me to build in.
Chose this model because of its Eco Mode feature. Works as expected. The fan rarely, if ever, spins up for me because I bought a a higher wattage than my current build really requires. The silence is a big plus in my music production build. Highly recommend.
