Description

Intro:

I wanted to build the best computer that I could with a budget that I was on (scooping ice cream as a 17 year old doesn't bring in the best income). With that in mind I also wanted something that could play all the games that I would like to play on the best settings. Overall I think that my needs are very satisfied and I'm very happy with the finished product and how everything turned out. So onto the details!

CPU: Intel i7-6700k

Best Processor I could get my hands on.

Liquid Cooler: Corsair H100i GTX pcpartpicker

Just a dual fan liquid cooler I picked up at microcenter that was on sale. Looks good and fit my needs well.

Motherboard: MSI Z170A Krait pcpartpicker

I wanted a black and white motherboard to fit the color scheme I was going for. This one was the one i picked out mostly cause they had a great sale on it at the time and it had good features.

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16gb (2x8) pcpartpicker Crucial 8gb (2x8)

The slower ram was bought just so I could get everything running. The higher speed was stuck in the mail for about 2 weeks and I wanted to gt the build going. Yes, I know it's a slower speed and ugly and yes I plan on replacing it soon.

Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 250gb pcpartpicker WD Black 1TB pcpartpicker

The solid state drive was for Windows and programs and games that I use/play frequently. The hard drive is for everything else.

Graphics Card: EVGA 980ti FTW 6GB pcpartpicker

Wow, this was a hard one to decide between. I bounced back and forth between manufactures; MSI, Gigabyte, ASUS, and EVGA were all considerations. Ended up going with this one because of the well-known support that comes with EVGA, the type of cooling they have, and just how sleek and good-looking it is. Only con for it is that it slightly sags due to how heavy it is.

PSU: EVGA P2 750w Module pcpartpicker

Great deal on a adequate power supply and has platinum efficiency, what more is there to say.

Case: Phanteks Enthoo Luxe pcpartpicker

I fell in love with this case the moment I saw it. It inspired this entire build for me off the case alone. It's so beautiful and fits any color scheme possible. Also has lots of room and was a breeze to work in, many hard drive bays and great cable management in the back. If I could recommend any case it would be this one.

Windows: Bought the pro version of WIndows 10 just so I could have more than 16gb of RAM.

Monitor: Crossover 2795 1440p 27in pcpartpicker

I wanted a 1440p monitor that ran over 100fps, I didn't want to spend upwards of 700$ though. I looked on Craigslist and got a Korean made monitor for 1/2 the price. It uses an AH-IPS panel for the rich colors and overclocked to 100 fps. Sure its not as good as say an ASUS ROG Swift but it still looks tremendous and better than most.

Perhipials: Bought a new keyboard, mouse and headset to go with all of this. Not much more than what every other gamer has though. Mouse and headset are comfortable and affordable, and the keyboard is mechanical with great switches.

Final Thoughts: Well, that's all I have. It could be better but on the budget I was on I'm happy enough. Thanks for reading everyone :~)

Also they will looking so bad if you use dual channel... and you cant hide this terrible looking with fancy neons.

The slower ram is what I bought to just build it instead of waiting two weeks for the actual ram to get here. I just wanted to get everything built and running instead of sitting there with all the parts.

Dude, you have to tell us stuff like that! Givin' fellas heart attacks over here.

pwelch234 1 point 38 months ago

How did you get all those ram sticks to work

Urishima 1 point 38 months ago

I think what he meant to say is that he repalced the slower RAM with the faster one, once it arrived.

Urishima 2 points 38 months ago

It's just RAM.

No. No it isn't. Your RAM configuration is terrible.

[EDIT]

I mean, the rest of your rig is ******* amazing. But you shouldn't mix and match RAM like that. Things get screwy with that.

Disco

jhall18 1 point 38 months ago

using different ram is usually ok if they are the same speed, these aren't however

82 deg C looks on the high side for that case (subject to your ambient temps) . I'd remove used HDD cages to allows better airflow to GPU.

Always a lovely build with the Luxe

Screw these haters. Enjoy your build, it's better than mine.

PCsquared 1 Build 1 point 38 months ago

It's not hate. It's criticism to help him make the build better.

The_Great_Revanchist 1 point 38 months ago

PC has a point, dont immediately call someone a "Hater" because they criticize a build.... It will people not like you :P

I know right? Awesome build besides the odd RAM config by the way. I hope you got it replaced.
