Who We Are: Hello! We are Lotus Computer USA, an American computer company based in Central Florida. We love to build custom gaming PCs in our workshop, and we want to share some of our completed builds with this wonderful and helpful community of systems builders.
The Build: For this build, we were commissioned by a friend who used to do blogging for Lotus. He had finally gotten together enough money to upgrade from his 3-year-old Cyberpower PC that "sounds like a jet engine taking off in the living room". While he primarily plays games on his PC, he also did some streaming, podcast recording, and video editing on the side. We wanted to give him the PC he'd always wanted.
Our ex-blogger is a simple man and requested no bright lights, glass, or any of the fancy effects that Lotus is used to working with. So, we instead invested in a reasonably strong CPU and GPU. We ended up using AMD's six-core Ryzen 5 1600 and an EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SC2, in order to let him game flawlessly and stream comfortably. On the MSI B350 Gaming Plus motherboard, we also used 16GBs of G.Skill Trident Z's to speed up his editing workloads a bit. From his current job, our client was able to get two free 1TB WD Blue HDDs, which we added along with a WD Blue 250GB SSD for the boot drive. We also salvaged the Thermaltake SMART 750W and a DVD drive from his old PC. For a case, we chose the Be Quiet! Pure Base 600 for its simple design, solid airflow, and soundproofed paneling so that our client could finally hear his TV over the sound of his old "jet engine" PC. Regrettably, he did not go with the tempered glass version, despite our goading.
Overall, we were quite pleased with this simple build. Our friend was overjoyed about the massive upgrade. It was even more heartwarming to hear his happiness while playing Overwatch with him the same day he picked up his PC. We hope you enjoyed checking out this build as much as we did putting it together!
