Description

A coworker got word that I build computers and asked if I could build her son a VR gaming rig, so I jumped right on it. It was a blast getting to build something that I knew someone would enjoy. A month after I built it for them I checked in and was told the build works flawlessly and her son is very happy with it.

Notes about parts and compatibility:

  1. Cryorig C7 - not sure if it was just me or if it was the AM4 fitting, but this thing was a monster to get onto the motherboard. Lots of pressure required to get the pins through to the mounting bracket on the back.

  2. Corsair Spec-05 - Quite roomy except in the back. Definitely had to lay on top of the case to get the back side panel on over the cable management. Also the case was listed to support two 140mm fans in the front, which it did not. I had to mount one of the fans normally and the second fan had to be zip-tied in to screw holes that didn't align properly. Definitely should have done more research on this and gotten 120mm fans instead.

Other than those two little things, nothing really posed a problem. Everything went smoothly and booted up first try.

Why not just use the stock cooler that comes with the 2600?

I was able to get the c7 to be a good bit quieter than the stock stealth while maintaining low temps.

There's a few comparison videos on YouTube and the c7 performs on par with the wraith spire and 5-8 degrees better than the wraith stealth

Are those cables red or orange? I think they are red but I am not sure.

They are red to match the rest of the build. Photos make them look a bit washed out sadly.

Is the exhaust fan acting as an intake purposefully?

No it was a mistake I made, I noticed after I took the pictures and flipped it around but just kept the pics.
