Description

This is my fist PC build. I will mainly use it to enjoy X-Plane 11 flight simulator, and maybe some Battlefield 1. I am also very interested in learning the art of fine overclocking. I will probably get a second EVGA 1070 when the prices come down some more. Flight sims can be quite hardware hungry, especially if you install a lot of scenery Add-ons .

I remember my last "gaming" desktop PC I had in the late 90's. I believe it was a 700MHz Pentium III cartridge style CPU with a couple of MB's of ram. The progress in hardware since then amazes me, it's unbelievable.

I hope you all like my little Alpine Joy! I had a lot of fun putting this thing together.

This is stunning, and that cable management is... exquisite.

ya already know dat feature's comin' +1

joelhowell 23 points 20 months ago

That cable management is probably the best I've seen............................ever

Faizan 8 points 20 months ago

Definitely up there. Take a look at the last few pictures here.

RedHawk02 11 points 20 months ago

I'm pretty sure to only way to get cable management skills like that is to sell your soul. Count me in because my cable management skills are worse than mediocre.

joelhowell 4 points 20 months ago

Holy cow that's amazing!

joelhowell 4 points 20 months ago

That's pretty hot

Cloud887 2 points 18 months ago

I am not sure I understand your meme. I'll just wait intel someone jumps over the devil's canyon and tells me what you mean. I am not that great of a processor so I will just have to take a dive into kabylake and cool off.

vagabond139 5 Builds 6 points 20 months ago

What is this now, the top comment on a featured build isn't from Jipster!?

Well good then. I read it as you saying it as sarcastic tone or something along those lines.

I didn't want to hear it that way but it was the only way I could figure out how to how to interpret it.

vagabond139 5 Builds 3 points 20 months ago

Sorry about the misunderstanding.

SheerSquirrelTV 1 Build 7 points 20 months ago

This is hands down, the best cable management I have ever seen! Congrats on featured too!

Yahtadi 7 points 20 months ago

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Thanks!

Lord_Blackheart 3 points 21 months ago

Hey can you drop the benchmarks And thnx for sharing Really the best recent build Looking forward to build it soon Also the normal room temp here is about 30°C so should I go for water cooling?

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 2 points 21 months ago

Thanks! A good air cooler should be fine. I'll drop some benchmarks soon.

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 3 points 20 months ago

Mailman9 1 Build 3 points 20 months ago

GORGEOUS! There is no other word for this. So clean and neat: the white cables to the VGA, excellent cable management, clean glass side, RGB lighting and a matching CPU cooler make this build so pretty.

What do you mean by "rip feature"?

Vreaker12 4 Builds 2 points 21 months ago

I love this build. You probably just need to go sleeved cables for the ATX cables and add another intake fan and it's perfect.

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 21 months ago

Thanks! Yeah I have been thinking about ordering an fourth fan, and a white ATX cable tomorrow. I was hoping nobody will notice :)

Vreaker12 4 Builds 2 points 21 months ago

I have a similar build like yours but nowhere near as nice and yes ended up having to order new cables as I couldn't stand looking at the original PSU cables myself. Congrats again on your build. It's truly a joy to look at.

Deftrune 2 points 21 months ago

So fresh and so clean!

vinimaciel01 1 Build 2 points 21 months ago

Nice build. Almost what im thinking. Somes questions:

Why ram of 3200 if the cpu only is able to read up to 2400?

How are that fans? Im in doubt between woth or without led in the fan.

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 0 points 21 months ago

Thanks!

The fans are great so far. They run very quiet with no feelable vibrations.

As I understand this, the i5- 7600k can take 3200mhz, but only if the motherboard/chipset supports it. The ram overclocks the memory controller in the CPU by enabling a XMP profile, or overclocking the ram manually. Intel's specs for the memory controller in the CPU have always been conservative.

Wow! Great cable managemen!

BattleDor 1 Build 2 points 20 months ago

Wow, this build is awesome. The lighting for the pictures is superb and the cable management is amazing. slightly obsessive The part selection is also very good, and I love the color scheme.

mmcconkey 2 points 20 months ago

That cable management is amazing, excellent work. Very nice overall setup, though I do think that a single 500gb SSD won't go very far with games/applications these day. Totally getting my +1.

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Agreed, I will get a second SSD drive in a few weeks.

Arminecraft 1 Build 2 points 20 months ago

Oh didn't I miss white-themed pc builds... really impressive how you made it look, with very good components as well! Well done :)

JustARandomPancake 2 points 20 months ago

HOLY CABLE MANAGEMENT.

+1 million for you...

commodore64 3 Builds 2 points 20 months ago

Makes me want to switch GPUs. I hate how my 980ti connector is on the side rather than top.

llamasbetrippin01 2 points 20 months ago

I also have X-Plane 11, though it is a little buggy, like in the 737-800 at fl 400 (40,000 ft) you may suffer from Hypoxia even though PAX is on, all the air, and pressurization is active, you could still suffer from Hypoxia. Also in the 747-300 (I believe) there are a couple of switches that will start to go nuts when you flick (switch them on/off), and you will be unable to use it. But overall it's great especially it's still in Beta and it already looks that good. Oh and I don't think the FMC, and or the FMS is working in the Beta yet, which is a little sad to me since I am an actual pilot, and I like the realism even when im not in flight in real life.

But to your very good looking build, the cable management is sublime, and is far beyond what mine looks like.

Defiantly a +1 from me! (Congrats on Featured!)

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Thanks llamasbetrippin01!

Yeah it's still pretty buggy, but I am sure they will smooth everything out soon.

llamasbetrippin01 1 point 20 months ago

Let's hope so! :)

PeriZ 1 Build 2 points 20 months ago

XFacility 2 points 20 months ago

rowanhirst_82 1 Build 2 points 20 months ago

The cable management is not possible. You're using modding hacks. Get prepared for your PCPP Vac ban. Only joking dude. This is such a sweet build. Perfect in every way. +1

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

hehe thanks!

pawsti 2 points 20 months ago

Cable management game is on point! This is gorgeous. +1!

danny_bui 2 points 20 months ago

Please teach me how to cable manage like you! I'm in awe from such a beautiful beast of a machine!

serenesa 2 points 20 months ago

how well would this run overwatch? =)

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Not sure. I am not very knowledgeable about all those newer games. All I know is that it runs battlefield 1 superbly with everything on the highest settings at 1080p. I think it could run it twice :)

kktxk 2 points 20 months ago

can you put ssd and hhd together?

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Yes no problem.

URNext7634 2 points 20 months ago

Where are the cables?!?! It's perfect! I'd plug it up as a centerpiece for my living room instead of gaming on it!

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Haha thanks. Cheers!

that cable management is insane bro how the ****

Jin_Kusanagi 1 point 21 months ago

bling bling ヾ(*ΦωΦ)ノ I heard the hard drive bays for this case are basically only metal, so it can make rattling noises if you put a hard drive in one of them. If you need more space, you can probably just get another 2.5" SATA ssd, or get the expensive m.2/pci-e ssd's. Actually there's also external hard drives, and ssd's as well. Your power supply probably has a lot more wattage than you'll ever need, unless you decide to add another graphics card in SLI or crossfire, which I'd recommend not getting. You can do a basic check with cooler master's power supply check just to be sure. You can replace your graphics card and get another single mid-high end one about every 3-4 years, and clean out the interior every so often with air in a can. If you build another pc, I'd recommend getting an i7 or an amd equivalent for futureproofing purposes, since the next generation(s) of cpu's might not be compatible with the chipset of your current motherboard, but overall I really like your pc. I'm planning on building something similar, but it'll cost more, since I like to have extra bling, lol. I'm stealing your idea for a PSU to GPU custom sleeve extension btw. Based on your photos, it's definitely the most noticeable pin connecting cable after proper cable management.

Fleetleader101 3 points 20 months ago

I can't decide if your trolling him or if I'm just reading this in the wrong tone...

Arichikurukuto 1 point 20 months ago

After reading it too I felt the same exact way lol

Does the G.Skill ram come with different color inserts? Or did that set specifically come with white? I'm doing a black & white build this year and would love to get factory colored parts instead of having to do a lot of modding.

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

It came with a specifically set color. These are being offered in other colors as well. No modding required. There is also a RGB LED version.

monthlypcbuilds 1 point 20 months ago

Why not FTW ACX 3.0 instead of SC?

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

The SC was on sale. I couldn't be happier with the SC. The FTW is nice though.

monthlypcbuilds 1 point 20 months ago

This is my build: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/monthlypcbuilds/saved/bQzGXL I honestly can relate this build to yours so, so much. Great job on cable mangement though, that is excellent. +1

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Very nice! You will love that case it makes cable management a breeze.

oDarthBane 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

I'm a 'big fan' of this build!! : D

Thank you oDarthBane!!

nokmanoks2 1 point 20 months ago

Hi I just want to ask, how's the clearance with the S340 and the H5 cooler?

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 2 points 20 months ago

There is 4mm of clearance between the glass plate and the cooler.

islandg@m3r 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Awesome build. Congrats on the feature. I'm Trying to build a new rig as well. Stuck between 7600K, RYZEN R7 1700 or the 6-Core 1600X RYZEN When it comes out...=(

IMO they really need to have more White cases with temp. Glass.....they rly should..tired of black.

Anyway you got my +1 Great Cable Management!!!! =)

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Thank you very much! Cheers

Krlos 1 point 20 months ago

So beautiful

Ricardo_Nixon 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

If you had bought an H5 Ultimate, that would've made this the ultimate build. Haha. Cable management is flawless. Great build. I admire those parts that you have wisely chosen.

IcepickXIII 1 point 20 months ago

Stunning build! I hope my first build turns out as nice as yours!

redta1l 1 point 20 months ago

Honest question... and it might not even be your need, but can this processor be used for a dedicated streaming/encoding rig? I am absolutely in love with this design. This is what happens when an artist is also tech savvy.

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 2 points 20 months ago

Thanks redta!

I think a i7 would be a better fit if you encode and stream a lot while performing other tasks like gaming. I won't do any streaming or encoding. Just some flightsiming and maybe a game from time to time.

Traineblaine 1 point 20 months ago

I dont usually like white builds but oh man... this might just be my first one. I usually go black and blue LED's. This is amazing, well done.

Does your case get grease stains? Scratches yet?

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

No still like new. It's a tempered glass panel, which is highly scratch resistant, unlike plexi glass...

Firstly, thank you for posting that heavenly back panel view because that cable management is the best I have ever witnessed. You've outdone yourself and your attention to detail in that regard makes this one of my favorites on pcpartpicker.com. Absolutely amazing. Enjoy X-Plane 11, I hear it's very good. I play FSX now and maybe someday I'll try X-Plane. Cheers.

Nerfino 1 point 16 months ago

Hello

brilliant cable management I wonder where you got the management parts from and what parts you use for it since I am looking to do the same for my pc if you don't mind me nicking your idea. Is there any other parts you have added for your pc aside from your list like fan cables and stuff?

Brillant PC I am in love

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 16 months ago
Aidanm77 1 point 16 months ago

Did you attach the zip ties to the case? it seems like your cables are sticking to your case. Also, what are those wide, flat cable ties you used?

PNUTheGamer 1 point 16 months ago

Those are built into the case.

PNUTheGamer 1 point 16 months ago

Great looking build. I have the same case and this inspired me to improve my cable management.

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 16 months ago

Thanks PNUTheGamer!

Therealpeter 1 point 15 months ago

I Really love this PC. If I could rate this it would be 10/10.

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

Thank you!

Brayden728 1 point 15 months ago

What fps does this get on most games and what's is the fps for rust

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

I honestly have no idea. I only use this PC for 4K flight simming. In X-Plane 11 I get about 50FPS at 4K, which is plenty in a flight sim.

NeosPlayZ 1 point 15 months ago

Nice build!

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

Thanks NeosPlayZ!

amplitude 1 point 14 months ago

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

Thanks amplitude!

xJoseph 1 point 13 months ago

Hey, do you mind providing us your CPU temp, Idle and Under load (Stock and Overclocked), thanks in advance!

yourfavorite 1 point 13 months ago

Where did you get the Cable Combs? I've been looking for some that are reasonably priced.

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

From newegg. But I don't remember how much I paid for them.

HyPerformance 1 point 13 months ago

I really like this build! I'm completely new to pc building/gaming and was wondering if I could replace the i5 with an i7 Intel core? If i did would i need to change any parts for it?

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

Thanks MyPerformance! Sure a i7 would work just fine without changing anything.

HyPerformance 1 point 13 months ago

Awesome thanks for the reply!

Lux_Luceat 1 point 12 months ago

Hey man, I really like this build! I am thinking of copying this exact build except with an Ryzen 1600 instead. Just wondering though, what monitor do you use?

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 12 months ago

Thanks! I still love this build. I bought an ASUS MG24UQ Black 23.6" IPS 4K UHD from newegg.

Lux_Luceat 1 point 12 months ago

Thanks man.

Just another thing too, how are the thermals for your build?

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 12 months ago

I can't complain. The i5 is currently running at 4.6Ghz at a temp of 68c max while running x-plane 11 at 4K. X plane 11 is a pretty unoptimized and hardware hungry flight simulator.

firemaker999 1 point 12 months ago

where are the cables

Nashville_Viking 1 point 12 months ago

looking into doing this as my first build, any tips i may need in the building process?

how quite is it?

PCGirlWorld 1 point 11 months ago

Thinking about getting this case, how is the airflow?

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

I can't complain.

kulabro2292 1 point 11 months ago

you should give cable management classes to noobs like me

Bandicooted 1 point 11 months ago

Really good looking. Where is the blue/red color coming from? the motherboard?

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Thanks! Yes the motherboard has some LEDs on it. You can change colors via a little app or in the BIOS.

MylesH 1 point 10 months ago

In the part list there are three case fans, but in the pictures i only see two, can someone explain where the third one is?

The third one sits in the lower front. Difficult to see because I took the pics in an angle.

Wow nice build! But, is it stupid to want to replace the Intel Core i5-7600K 3.8GHz Quad-Core buy a AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor ?

Do you have any motherboards comparable in price and performance to the one in this build? Price data dropped off the face of the Earth about 12 days ago and I can't seem to find the thing anywhere for purchase

Nice build bud. I'm an XP11 pilot as well and wanted to let you know that XP11 does not support SLI anyway so don't bother adding another 1070. Just upgrade to 1080 if need be. I use a 1070 just fine though at 1080p resolution.

How did this work out for X-Plane 11? I want to do a similar build for VR and X-Plane do you think this set up can handle it?

702Wolfi submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

It worked out great. I'm still using it mainly for xplane. I'm running xplane in 4K at a FPS rate in the lower 40's. I over clocked the CPU to 3.8GHz. 16GB ram is plenty. Never tried VR with this rig so I can't comment on how it would run VR. If your budged allows, go with a 8th gen intel CPU and the new gen nvidia graphics cards. Then it will run xplane 11 superbly in VR for sure.
