Description

This is my first gaming oriented build.

As the name suggests I was going for silence. With all fans maxed out, running Furmark for 10 minutes, I got a peak reading of 26dB.

This is a dual boot windows/linux machine:

250GB SSD for windows boot with 2TB storage

120GB SSD for linux boot with 3TB of storage.

I am overclocking my CPU to 4.5Ghz and I am going to try to squeeze 100Mhz more out of my GPU

I ran into a few issues with the UEFI bios and linux, the two don't seem to like to play nice with each other. But the system is now running stable with the overclock.

Edit #1: I've added two more identical monitors, running 5760x1080 is spectacular. My FPS in games has dropped a bit but not nearly as much as I was expecting. Most games run around 50 fps on max settings.

The BenQ EW2440L has pretty much no bezels making it perfect for 3-monitor setups, even with a different monitor in the middle.

Looks really nice though. Great cable management. +1

What games you playing on it?

Good suggestion, I take that into consideration. I need to do some monitor research before I drop another 400-600 on monitors. I also am probably going to need another 290x to run games on ultra settings with eyefinity.

I mostly play battlefield, Crysis, minecraft, and steam games like Warthunder and Borderlands.

Yeah right now I've got a 280x running 1 1080p and 2 720p's, when i play games on 3 monitors i have to set it up so they're all 720p though. It's pretty awesome. In the near future I'm going to be getting another 280x and 2 more of those monitors.

wow overclocking ya cpu to 4.5 ghz is impressive with that cooler, any thoughts on ever watercooling it or?

I was trying to eliminate noise with an air cooler so I opted for the D15 rather than an AIO liquid cooler. Being my first build I didn't want to do a custom loop. Once I get a second R9 290x i will probably look into water cooling the GPUs to keep the internal temps down but Iv got a lot of planning to do before that day comes. I might just grab 2 Kraken G10s as I have tons of radiator space in this case.

How do I install razer synapse into linux if I were to do it?

Depends on your version of linux and the peripheral you're using. You might try a program like wineHQ to implement the windows software. I haven't done it myself yet
