Description

She said she wanted to buy a PC from Walmart. I refused to let her and built her one.

She wanted something entry level and plain looking but I didn't want to upgrade it again in a year or 2 so I decided to bump up the processor and gpu close to mid-range.

She uses it for mainly WOW but I tested Csgo, Fortnite and Pubg and it handled it just fine. 100+ fps on medium to high settings on 1080p

The Deepcool Matrexx 55 case was easy to work with and cable management was pretty standard. Tempered glass and rgb fans for a $70 case was a good value.

Overall, she was satisfied and was surprised how good looking it turned out. She was stoked to see the RGBlings and thought it was just going to be a plain build.

Also saved her a few $$$ when ebay had a sitewide 15% off

Nice job! You did well by your sister. But surprised you didn't go for a 480gb ssd for like $4 more than the 250gb and 16gb of RGB RAM for just another $40.

guess it depends on the storage, faster storage with an 840 evo. sure you can grab an inland proffesional for 50 bucks as well, but if you know they are not going to use the space then its just wasted money. i have a friend that i built a gaming pc that only had a 500gb hard drive a couple years ago and he still has 400gb spare. as for the ram again if they are not using it then dont bother. PC's are definatley a buy what you need. If all they play is wow then 8gb is fine. Save the money and throw at it upgrades later if they need to. (i know someone who was playing wow with a q8300 and a gt 310 before they had me upgrade their system and even then it was only to an r7 250 ddr3 version so they could do 720p low settings.)

From what Ive heard, you have to have it open to have the effects. And it its not as good as other software.

Haha I'm totally the same way. I've had to put a stop to a few Walmart trips by co-workers.

I consider this what building a PC is really all about, the bang for the buck. That 1060 was a smart pick.

Is the 250gb ssd the only storage?

Last thing: It appears you put the baby into the empty case at one point for the LULs! You monster! lol j/k nice build my dude!

Thanks my guy! Yes 250gb is the only storage. After installing WOW she had another 40gb left. If need be, I can always throw in a 1TB HD in the future. Lmao I didn't even notice the reflection til u mentioned it

Nice and sensible build. Could have add an additional hard drive to store her stuff. Great build and kind brother you are

Thanks and agreed but that can be added in the near future. It was purely for gaming because she has a laptop for all of her other stuff. So this will do for now :-)

I would get a GPU backplate.

Not sure they make it for this gpu but it's definitely out of the budget haha.

When it is in the budget, this company will custom make it for your card.

its nice although if I built it I would use an r5 2600 and a 1060 6gb for an extra $150

  • 2 points

For what she use it for, i thought the 1600 was sufficient and 1060 3gb was perfect for WOW and 1080p. $150 for minimal gain I feel isn't worth it.
