This is now rendition #5 of this money pit. When is it going to end?
I had been wanting to change the case for a while, add a few peripherals and just make the insides look like it performs. Managed to get the wires from the video cards combed just right as well as the main harness on the mother board. This was my first attempt at wire combing. What a pain in the A..! I have sausages for fingers so it was like trying to weave a basket with cooked spaghetti, one eye covered with a patch and one arm numb. I know, a little extreme, but I certainly felt that way.
This system was made a few years ago and this is just an update cosmetically. It has seen a lot of use and abuse over the years from being in an automotive shop and having gasoline and coolant spilled in and on it, to now being a trailer queen at home. I added Cable Mods Corsair Dominator lighting Mod. They are nice, faint, but nice. Chose green of course. The parts list shows all added items with a price next to it.
The RAZR NZXT S340 had been a want of mine for a few years and I finally decided to purchase it along with the other items I had been longing for. The HAF 912 was highly modified and will be coming up in a newly posted build that I made for my oldest son. Keep an eye out for that one. The K70 Corsair Keyboard and the M65 Corsair mouse were also added and I just love them. The mechanical clicks are so pleasant and that mouse is crazy accurate!
The Corsair ST100 is kind of cool. It has a USB spot on the top of the bottom base for the wireless receiver and on the side it has another 3.0 USB port. Also, It is RGB and can be synced to all Corsair Link RGB products.
In case you are wondering why I haven't gone Ryzen yet, well the answer is simple. This system still kills it! I can play most games maxed out at 2560 x 1080. The price it would cost for me to go Ryzen is just not worth it yet. I do have another system almost identical running at 4k 3840 x 2160 and it too is in no need of an upgrade yet. Been waiting to see what Ryzen 2 has to offer.
I have left all the pictures from the previous renditions present. Newest are in the front. Please ask questions since this build has quite a bit of history.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy.
8 cores of factory overclocked heat producing goodness. Kills any game I throw at it even with today's AAA titles. Boost to 5Ghz when needed.
I now have two of these and they are just awesome. Both are taming FX 9590's without concern. What a great AIO!
Excellent board for the AM3+ FX9590. Able to handle it at 220W. One draw back; can only post with all 4 slots at or below 1600 Mhz. To go higher use only 2 slots. Kind of a drag. Knocked of one star for that. Same with my other Gigabyte boards too.
Beautiful, expensive, fast and stable as all even when overclocking past rated speeds. No need to though since 2133 XMP is fast enough!
Legendary Samsung SSD performance! No more words required.
I have had these cards for about 2 years now and they are just amazing. Had them overclocked several times with no concerns. Just love them.
Really, Really like the slick clean look of this case. It was really fun to build in and is very well built. It is very difficult for cable management though. Also there is a hidden illumination button on the back next to the I/O panel slot for the rear, bottom and front illumination. Also the top and rear fan are hard wired to a Molex connector to keep them at 100%. Had to re wire them to the motherboard but the Molex had to be used to keep the illumination working. The heat dissipation is not all that great without a side fan, even with 2 240mm fans up front from the H115i. Video cards run about 15-20c hotter then when they were in the HAF 912.
I..Need..More..Power..Scottie. Seriously. This thing packs a punch! Every thing that comes with it is top notch. Cables are very nice, packaging, accessories. I have 4 of them; I think they are that good.
I have had this for a little over a year now and still cant believe how good gaming is on it. With Gsync and 144Hz it is just amazing. One of the best things I have purchased.
Always wanted this keyboard and finally got it. A little difficult to get used to hitting mechanical keys a little harder. But I love the noise! The RGB is awesome. I just keep it set to a green, but this board has many, many options for settings of Macros and such that I truly believe I will not need another keyboard again.
Another always wanted item, finally got it. This is a great mouse with a very accurate sensor. The feel in the hand is great and buttons are easily accessed. The 'Snipe' button is nice and so is the RGB.
Best and most comfortable headphones I have ever owned. I am really amazed at the sound quality even given the fact that they are wireless. The battery life is also quite good. Much better than I had expected. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, they are also RGB.
