Here it is again now that PCPP is back up... hope you guys like it...
Basically wanted to build a strong machine for transcoding, editing, and compositing up to 8k footage in addition to 3d modelling and character animation.. Was a little hesitant at first, but sooo glad i pulled the trigger on AMD.. Everything just flies on this machine!!!.. I was originally trying to hold out for the K7 mobo, but it tested my patience too long being out of stock. I decided to give the SLI PLUS a shot just to get goin on the build, and im glad I did.. It's still a little slow to post, about 15-20 sec, but other than that it performs very well.. Everything is performing outstandingly!!!..
Not sure what GPU will finally end up in here, but the 1080 FTW2 is more impressive than i expected it to be.. I basically bought it to hold me over until we all can get some real data and pricing on the tech to come later this year... but honestly, I'm stoked on this card and debating getting another one. Anyways, hope you guys like the build.. and yes thats the pen mod gpu support.. oh yeah, and a custom acrylic psu cover i made.. was gonna paint it black to match but now i kinda like it clear..
I cannot recommend this enough.. Even without overclocking, the1800x was well over 2x faster than my 5930k in a volumetric rendering test.. It is just incredible!!!
Does its job extremely well and looks sexy as hell... At 100% utilization full load for 1hour of rendering, my 1800x never went over 56c..
Board works perfectly other than slow post time... takes about 15-20 sec to post.. but after that, everything is lightning fast.. also, it has handled overclocks extremely well... went to 4.1 stable on the first try... haven't tried for more yet..
I like it alot.... I haven't reached the 3000mhz mark as of yet, but i believe that will be dependent on motherboard support and not so much the RAM itself.. I havent messed around with it too much yet, but with XMP enabled, i have set it at 2666mhz and it is flawless.
Runs FAAST!!!.. Was very impressed with this card.. I opted for the ICX design because i wanted it to run as cool as possible.. and it does.. With Precision XOC running only a custom fan profile, the card clocks to 1999mhz all by itself and after a 1 hr test render, it never went above 73c.
McLaren P1, Mila Kunis, and a hand grenade all in one box... Just take your time routing your cables and this case will be one of the most beautiful things you will own.
Very nice... Cables are a pretty stiff, but not a problem at all...
Really like this monitor... Right out of the box the color profile was actually really good.. After a calibration, the color was even better.
