Project Carbon Elite by Spiral Case Mods

This project was the result of the need to build with limited funds. Building gaming PC's has become my hobby and my passion. I frequent PCPartPicker, BuildaPCSales Reddit and Youtube constantly consuming content about newest PC components and sales. My original goal is to piece together a PC for less than $400 that would blow away my previous Golden Elite Build. This was the result, a PC I can be proud of for just over $400. All prices include shipping and sales tax.

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.8Ghz. I was able to price match a $99 Microcenter sale at Best Buy. Not a bad price for 6 core 12 thread processor.

Gigabyte B450 Aorus Elite. Purchased this around Black Friday 2018. I actually bought a used Asus motherboard off of Ebay for $38 which would have put me under the $400 goal I was looking for but I was sent an AM3+ instead of the advertised AM4. This is a damn good board for the price, I'm happy with it.

Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 8 GB (2x4gb). Purchased this new on Ebay with a $20 coupon I received for selling my Playstation 3. I know kinda cheating. The price should be $20 more...Still best price I could get.

Kingston A400 120gb. Every new PC needs an SSD for windows and a few programs. This one on Amazon did the trick. Not the fastest SSD, but certainly faster than any HDD I've owned.

Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB. Bought this used on Ebay. For $20 it works for holding games and documents.

Gigabyte Radeon RX 570 Gaming 4gb. Bought used on Ebay for $68 plus shipping. Unbelievable price for a great 1080p card.

Deepcool Matrexx 55 Add-RGB. This is one kickass budget case. Not the heaviest steel construction and the breakaway PCI slots are lame, but looks beautiful. Was able to hook up the front RGB stripe the fan controller for syncing.

Corsair CX 450W 80+ Bronze. It supplies power...for less than $19. Has a decent warranty just in case.

darkFlash Aurora DR12 fans. Really nice budget fans that come with a controller with additional RGB headers. Was able to connect to motherboard sync and use RGB fusion 2.0 software. Looks beautiful.

Other - Used acrylic and vinyl sheets. Used a cricut vinyl cutter in the photos.

Would be nice to see a super budget build end up as a feature build and if anything this build has that potential. Holy crap talk about bang for the buck to get all that for near $400. Not to mention the custom aesthetics on the build make it look sooo much better.

It has already happened.

Clean build! I built my sister's PC with the same case and it came out really good!

How did it come ouy in the sense of aesthetics? Im looking to build the same one just with leds inside it, but I think that there is too much left-over space in the right where @SpiralCaseMods made the honeycomb cover designed plate.

when I first saw this build the photos really caught my eye. it looked amazing. Then I saw the price and I was blown away. With all these high end GPU's on the market and still even newer ones rolling out. Most people don't take into account what is actually needed to game comfortably at 1080p. This build really hits the mark, awesome job. I may have to get my wifes cricket out of storage...

Thank you. The RX 570 is a really impressive gpu at 1080p. Especially with the new 2019 adrenaline drivers. It destroys the more expensive GTX 1050ti and competes with the 1060. $150 new and $80 used is an exceptional price for this hardware. AMD is really dominating the mid range market right now.

Yo I'm on a 600 dollar budget and saw this build and am really loving it. Got any cooler suggestions? I may get the parts and build it.

Cryorig H7 Quad Lumi - beautiful affordable and great performing cooler. $65 on Newegg. I've seen it as low as $45.

Well if you want to pinch every penny just about all current mid range CPUs that would go into a $600 build will work well with just the stock cooler so that extra $45 from what would have been a cooler could be put towards something else like more budget for the video card as an example.

Put your RAM in slots 2 and 4, not 1 and 3. Nice build tho

Thanks. I'll take a look. I swore it was slots 1&3 for this board.

I love seeing all the ryzen builds using the stock cooler. It's a decent thing and blends in and is just plain a fine air cooler.

Agreed. Really no need to upgrade the cooler unless you're overclocking a Ryzen 7 to its max.

Dude this is beautiful. You just sold me on those fans based on your comment on Slickdeals. I might even looking to getting this case as well.

Great budget combo. Just remember the fans can't be controlled through the motherboard. They only have three speeds that can be controlled with the remote control.

Yeah I was noticing that. Not to a big of a deal, especially for the price their at. Thanks for the heads up.

I also have a Gigabyte B450 motherboard and this case and only half of the add-rgb strip on the front lights up. This is my first build and everything works except the add-rgb strip

How did you get the Acrylic to stay up? Im buying the same case and want to do the same type of custom wall you did near the front side of the case, behind the tempered glass. Any help would be appreciated!!
