Description

My first PC I had was 15 years ago and I've used laptops ever since but thought it's time for a proper gaming PC.

It was quite an easy build actually as I'd researched it for a month or so prior, still had a few problems though....

1st problem I had was with the MOBO bios needing updating to support the 4th gen 4690k CPU, took me 8 hours to figure this part out, just wouldn't boot at all, nightmare!

2nd problem, as the H440 case doesn't support a cd drive, I had to boot windows using a usb memory stick, as well as all drivers etc. Wasn't a massive problem but I'd suggest if you're going to use this case, buy a portable disc drive, they're pretty cheap and save a lot of hassle.

3rd problem was after about the 4th start, smoke started pluming out everywhere, a cable in the case for an extra fan that wasn't fitted shorted and melted the wire. I thought it was something much worse at first, horrible sight it was, I've never moved to turn the power supply off so fast.

Was a fun build, taught me a lot about computers. I've had it around 2 months now and had no problems with anything, runs a dream.

Just did a quick 3dMark test, here's the result... http://www.3dmark.com/fs/3445352

Hope you all like the PC as much as I do! Next on the list is a water cooler so I can overclocking that CPU and probably add another 8gb ram. Thanks for taking a look :)

With those Razer Peripherals I might have gone with the H440 Razer Edition to match.

Paying $40 for a logo? Really?

it doesn't make any sense but it is his first build and it sort of looks good I guess

I saw that actually but decided against it, it does look awesome though imo. I do like the look of Razer stuff, I like the green/black, a lot of people seem to go for red/black so thought it'd be a nice change.

Yeah. I really liked you build though. I just thought it might look nice, but it still looks nice though.

even if the psu is mounted upright I don't think I could bring myself to putting my machine on a carpet *eyeroll*

Still gets a +1 though, nice build

Hmmm, never thought of that being a problem actually, may have to do something about it! Can't put it on the desk though, any suggestions? thanks :)

Even just a nice plank of wood you can put on the floor is much better. Your pc will suck up all the dust from the carpet and it will hamper your psu's fan from over heating

Post pics of the interior. The smoking wire and bios problem must have been a ***** to deal with.

The smoking was a disaster, I thought I'd completely knackered everything haha!

The bios issue was a nightmare, I was tearing my hair out all day/night, woke up fresh and had time to google and think clearly and it was sorted within an hour! If anyone else has the same error code "00" on Asus Hero motherboard, the bios needs updating! (Hopefully this will show on a google search haha)

I'll get some more pics up shortly.

I'd love to be able to change the blue light on the GPU to green as well, it's possible, but way too much effort haha!

I've never had a proper headset before so I have nothing to compare them to but for me, they're absolutely awesome! I play a lot of CS:GO now and they're perfect for hearing which direction people are coming from, surround sound is immense! They go really loud as well, I can't go above 70% volume on them or it just breaks my face. I can have them on 100%, put them down on the desk and hear the song playing from downstairs in the kitchen haha! The mic is crystal clear on Skype and in-game. They look awesome as well! Gotta try them to appreciate them I guess!
