Description

Hey Hey,

A desktop has not been in our house for MANY years and wanted to change that ... im an old pc guy and tired of laptops. So my son and I have spent considerable time over the past many months looking into components for a build. Had no idea how what we were getting into but enjoyed learning and building this together;)

Spent a little time overclocking and settled on 4.5Ghz at 1.345V. Tested it overnight with good results so haven't increased it any further yet ... not sure if I will actually.

Wont make this long so here is a brief rundown: The build was fun and went smoothly - couldn't be happier. White and black theme. New white LED fans for case and SP fans for cooler. Monitor is Asus ROG PG279Q IPS (not in price list but awesome!). All prices include taxes and shipping. In process of building a stand to get computer off carpet. Sry if pictures are not the best. Son gets to use for school and game a good amount long as he keeps his grades up ... im an a**. I get to use for AutoCAD. We both would like to try BF1 ;)

A HUGE thank you to PCP and community! Really really REALLY helpful - did I say Really!?

Part Reviews

CPU

All we need for now and easy to overclock.

CPU Cooler

BIG cooler but keeps cpu nice and cool.

Motherboard

Again, all we need and bios super easy to navigate. Good oc options.

Storage

FAST ... operating system boots in about 6 seconds.

Storage

Plenty of storage for our needs ... fast for hdd and good warranty.

Video Card

Just kills it! Will add another in SLI down the road if needed.

Case

Really like this case. Plenty of options and easy to build in. Also like that you can lift and move it from top of the case ... its the simple things :)

Case Fan

Quiet and look nice.

Hows the BLB on the monitor?

Have read about this and was concerned but really don't notice any backlight bleed. Has some slight ips glow in areas when viewed in a darker environment with a dark scene but not bad. Feel pretty fortunate and happy with the monitor.

Why do you not have any fans on that rad for the h115i?

Mounted led high static pressure fans on top of radiator. You can see them in one of the pics, under the desk. Read a few articles that say it doesn't decrease cooling much and wanted the led's to show at top of case. So 3 fans into the case and 3 fans out. Hope makes sense.

I have been doing some research to see if the Corsair H115I would fit on top of the Master Case pro/maker 5. Glad to see that you did it. Was it tough to install as shown? Wondering if you turned the rad around so the hoses came out towards the front of the case would you think it would contact the Optical Drive Bay? I am hoping to leave this in place for my build for an external fan controller.

Let me know what you think.

Was actually the most difficult item to install only due to having to hold the rad/fans in place as you blindly try to find the holes in the frame and screw down from the top. Became easier after I got the first one partially threaded.

The rad hoses are mounted below and at the end so don't think that would be the issue. I just measured and may not work or would be very tight fit using the top bay. Seems more likely to possibly work using the secondary lower bay. I had always intended to use this radiator and not the bays so was a non issue for me. Sorry, wish I had a solid answer for you.

Please let me know how your build turns out ... would like to see it;)

Thnx ... U2!! Love the mb, cpu and monitor. Really how can you go wrong with those as you are well aware of. Love it and trying BF1 at this actual moment ... sooo smooth. Enjoy Hans!
