Description

Built this as a replacement for my Y510p and as a successor to my sandy bridge based system. Definitely the best looking PC I've ever owned.

Now all I need is an updated monitor, keyboard to match the setup and a good mouse pad. I will definitely be back here to get those.

HUGE THANKS to all the fellow experts who helped me decide on this build. I am over the moon with this build. For the past 3 weeks, waiting for parts unboxing and building them slowly was a HUGE stress buster after work. I might have some withdrawal symptoms but hey no complaints with this beautiful system.

Part Reviews

CPU

God Damn FAST. I've not even scratched its surface yet. Next week when I have all the VMs setup this will be put to EXCELLENT use. I cant wait to put this horse into the race. Idle's slightly higher than what I was expecting. But hey when it works no complaints. (Have not overclocked it yet, will do that in the next few weeks)

CPU Cooler

Minus one star for not being BLACK with the same level of performance. But boy this fit right in and I had to spend extra few dollars on getting matching sleeves. Looks like Angelina Jolie, cant complain anything.

Motherboard

Has been rock solid so far. Pretty cool RGB, but if you have a big GPU and a rear fan pretty much all the RGB from the motherboard is hidden.

Minus one star for not having a USB C header at this price point (I missed this, should have noted it earlier). But THE AUDIO IS OUT OF THIS WORLD !!

Another drawback is if you have a large GPU, the SATA ports are hidden make sure you get those straight pin cables.

Memory

EXCELLENT again. No complaints at all. Killer looks and performance.

Storage

This bad boy is 5 or 6 years old and is still going strong. I added this as a backup drive.

Storage

I cant even see the copy paste progress window anymore. ZIP and its done.

Storage

Nothing much to add here. Does as described.

Video Card

THIS GUY is UGEEE. Yes UUGEEE. The fans dont even turn on for the simple games I play. It doesnt break a sweat. Killer looks as usual. Wish I can do a vertical mount.

Case

Yo this case is PLENTY big for anything you want. But the M2 slots at the back are kinda useless, when I connect the cables I am not able to screw them back in (maybe I am doing something wrong here). But one of the BEST value for money. Comes with Corsair Commander Pro, Lighting Hub and 2 LL fans. Cant go wrong here. And I got it for 150 bucks open box cant complain !

Power Supply

Solid power boy does as described.

Case Fan

3 stars for Corsair not having same spec for White and Black LL fans. I can understand if its 120 vs 140. But White vs Black theres a big difference. Oh well.

Headphones

I am adding a review for my 3 year old headphones. This thing came alive with the NEW motherboard, its like owing a brand new headset. KILLER !

Custom

If these were solid lights like neon lights that would be even more awesome. But its cool, would be great if it was a little cheaper.

Custom

THIS, This must be a default for all Power supplies. But a big disappointment for me cause the inner wire was the same length as the top layer. So when I bend it, it looks great outside but in the backend it is crazy hard to fix this. Wish I had bought pre bent cables.

Custom

Pretty Meh. Didnt use this in the build end of the day. Maybe some other day, but it is worth what you pay for.

Have you tried gaming and streaming with this build? How do you think it performs?

I have no idea how to stream or what to stream. As the title said I’m a bit old for the fornite gen. I can give it a shot. But I run 2 virtual machines and they perform rock solid while I’m playing dota 2.

where did you find the rtx super

Newegg. I used nowinstock alerts to find it. It took about a week but I was able to easily get the 2080 super and 3900x with that approach. Buying them otherwise was next to impossible.

Looks amazing! But I have a question, do the LL120s do a good job on the radiator? I heard the static pressure is less than perfect because they are an airflow fan, I'm curious especially because it's for a 3900X.

The LL fans ave different versions. They are not all the same. I made a spreadsheet to compare 120mm white/ black and the ones coming with the radiator and 140. The ones on the radiator are the best of the entire lot and white ones are for some reason better spec ed than black. So far they are doing fine. No complaints. It idles at 39-45 which I think is normal for 3900x. Gaming makes it go to 50/55. Moreover I was going for aesthetics as well. So I had no choice.

wow, I never knew that. that's kinda bizarre. Well then I guess my last question is since your not supposed to mix-match fans on the commander pro, did using both white and black LL120s cause any problems.

  • 1 point

Nope, no issues there. And I think you are not allowed to mix fans from different series like the ML and LL. You can mix LL 120/140 or black and white no issues there.

The black version of the radiator I got had slower fans so I ended up getting white and it looked pretty cool too.

cool. thanks for you help, i didn't even know about the white version being faster until now. might have to revise my plans.

Yeah, you can look up white vs black corsair ll fans. There are so many threads about it everywhere. And if you end up getting the Platinum SE version (white) just add white accents like the cable sleeves and it hsould fit right in. But a white fan might stand out in a black case. So I compromised and did not get a white fan for the rear. All the fans front and rear are black. The AIO alone is white.

Hey man, nice build!

Loving the video card. Where did you happen to buy it from? I’m trying to buy one from amazon/Newegg but it’s at an insane 1.1k.

How much did you end up picking it up for?

Just saw this. I used nowinstock alerts desktop alerts. It was 730 in Newegg I think. I had to wait 2 weeks before I was able to cop one. Keep that window at all times and quickly buy once in stock

Said you want to mount the card vertically? Try the cablemod kit. It is a bit pricey but it doesnt require case modding. If you dont mind the case nodding try the phanteks gpu kit. Great build and sexy card

Thank you. I gave up on that idea cause this card was too long / fat. Another major issue with this card was that the fans start hitting the shroud even if you slightly press the cards accidentally. So I didn’t want to mess around and just left it as is.

Could you post more pics of how it looks from the outside of the case with the white parts? I bought all white parts and this case but wasn’t sure how it was going to look, thank you!

It looks great. The first picture I posted shows that. Sadly there’s lots of reflection on it. It will look great ! The white parts will be slightly muted through the tinted glass and that actually looks great. Almost all my pictures are outside the case. Inside the lights are too bright, but from the outside they look just right.
