Description

Hey everyone! I'm back again with the final installment of my personal rig/showcase pc for my instagram page instagram.com/pcgaming101.

Here is an imgur link with high res of the new photos: http://imgur.com/gallery/WDRhK

I've been working on this PC for almost a year. Its kinda like how Jayztwocents has skunkworks....well i have Starlock.

I got the inspiration from Star-lord. Obviously I'm a big Guardians of the Galaxy fan. I wasn't a fan of the color combo though. So i switched it up a bit and used purple instead of a burgundy color.

I've been very fortunate to do this build. I was given several opportunities to get parts and share my work. And to think a year ago this started with an i7 860 and r7 260x.

I've also been very fortunate with parts. I'm able to achieve an overclock of 4.8ghz with 1.38v on my chip. I've also maintained a 1585mhz overclock on the gpus. This is also technically my first

The previous version of Starlock that I published can be found here: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/yysJ7P

I've Included more photos of previous versions on Starlock. I lost most of the updates that I've done this year because of some hardware problems and ssds always dying on me. SO i found as many as possible. Most of these shots are Macros shots to highlight the Cables and color combinations.

Waiting for the 1080ti. Bought the 980tis when they launched over a year ago.

you could take advantage of the potential 980ti upgrade program, maybe you could even get 2 1080ti's lol

I'm hoping I can! That is the plan as of now.

To me water cooling is really useless but even that who the hell cares because it just looks so good. The CPU air coolers now do complete pretty close but they for sure don't look like this

Amazing, love how each picture feels like I'm going back in time from when you first built your computer. How many ssd's have you gone through? lol. Is the watercooling parts from the thermaltake bundle kit that they're selling?

  • 0 points

All watercooling was individually sourced and sponsored by thermaltake. No kit.

i wonder how your bank feels about this. also, any plans to upgrade to a 6950x when you have a healthy bank account?

  • 1 point

No plans for the 6950x. The performance gain isn't worth the extra 600. Plus I've achieved 4.8 on my 5960x. Which is practically impossible on the new series.

3 SETA interface SSDs, two 960GB and the other 512GB... 1 PCI SSD with 240 GB, and 1 m.2 SSD... curious why you went with such a variety? Any idea which one is the best speed wise?

Sponsored ssds.

Would''ve voted up if you bothered to use real water cooling equipment not ThermalFAKE and No name radiators. EK, Alphacool, Swiftech, Bitspower > No name equipment and ThermalFAKE stolen designs.

Ur CPU>my PC value

  • 1 point

Lol, that storage tho :).

Things to notice:

1 - I know it's tempting to fill all your RAM slots all at once, but you would be better off buying 4 sticks of 8GB and be able to expand in the future, saves you some money.

2 - A beast of a build like this one would greatly benefict fom the Pascal architecture equivalent (The GTX1080), not only would be a faster and cheaper build, but you would also have more room for overclocking (Pascal is great in that field, believe me!).

Besides that, you seem to know what you are doing when it comes to tunning your case. Incredible work (even tho purple is not my color)! +1

First point: valid. I probably shouldn't of jumped the gun but 32GB is fine for now. Maybe 64 in a year or so.

Second point: I'm waiting for the 1080ti ;)
