This build used to be called Hyperlight (themed after the video game, Hyperlight Drifter) before I modded it to be what you see now. I have since renamed it Heart Machine, because not only is it the name of the developers for Hyperlight Drifter, it also fits with the heart/ blood theme of the new build. I took down the post for the Hyperlight build, because I thought the build had been modded enough to deserve a new post.

Here is a list of what has been modded:

  • Painted the case exterior panels and interior white.
  • Painted the motherboard i/o shroud and PCH face plate white.
  • Cut out a hole on the case top panel and fitted it with a perforated metal sheet to improve ventilation.
  • Cut out part of the front fan mount to fit 3x 140mm fans which were not natively supported.

Don't have much else to say other than I had fun making the mods. The results are great both functionally and aesthetically. I'm looking to make more minor tweaks here and there, but the build is mostly complete.

How long did it take you to paint everything?

I'm considering switching from my H440 to the Enthoo EVOLV TG and also wanted to paint the interior white.

xlegendof submitter 2 Builds 2 points 9 months ago

About 2 and a half days. Sanding to roughen up the surface for paint took the longest I'd say. After that just paint away and wait for it to dry!

I've been thinking about painting the interior of my case white for a while now, and I think you might have just sold me.

Yahtadi 1 point 9 months ago

Put 1 extra rad in front please.. Pretty please..

xlegendof submitter 2 Builds 2 points 9 months ago

I can't say I haven't thought of doing that, but the temp performance I'm getting out of the top rad only is great. Maybe I'll add a front rad someday...

Yahtadi 1 point 9 months ago

Great! and by someday i mean, tag me please

Maybe needed more pictures and a longer description, but this build is featured material. Terrific mods and an overall great build.

I've been planning up something very similar.

I was planning on vinyl wrapping the case exterior panels. Any thoughts on painting vs wrapping?

Also, for your purpose, why put the radiator on top instead of front?

Thanks for any input. It's truly a beautiful build!

xlegendof submitter 2 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

Vinyl wrapping is something I did consider as well, but I don't have the skill (more so the patience...) to apply it on perfectly without making any bubbles or getting clean edges. While paint is harder to reverse vs vinyl wrap, it gave me the certain quality that I was going for. If you can make vinyl wrap look good on your build let me know, I'd be interested in seeing the results.

As for my radiator on top, I wanted to go for a more positive pressure inside the case so I put 3x 140mm in the front for intake. A radiator in front would decrease the intake needed for positive pressure. Also this setup allows me to passively cool my PC when I'm not doing anything intensive because heat is able to rise and escape out the top without getting into the case itself. This coupled with Asus Fan Connect on my 1080 Strix, which I connected all my exhaust fans to, the fans don't even need to turn on until the GPU starts getting hot. My temps for the CPU stay around 30c and my GPU around 40C as long as I'm not gaming. Keeps everything nice and quiet :)

Hope this input helps!

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

I've been thinking of getting the black or gray Evolv TG, wrapping the front and top.

Smaller pieces, plates, pcie covers, PSU/Cable cover, etc I'm going to plasti-dip white. Pastel White coolant. I'm considering plasti-dipping the GPU backplate.

And right now I'm leaning more towards the 7700k/Z270 (probably strix Z270E) and painting the shielding white. However, I was also thinking the 6800k/Deluxe II. I like being able to better utilize the second PCIe lane if I get a second GPU, but SLI performance is kinda underwhelming.

It'll be a while before going up. I'm still deployed and I'll probably wait until Ryzen is out. Either I'll like it's performance more or prices may drop. Plus I'll be going back home to CO on leave and can check out the microcenter there. Maybe get a discounted CPU/MOBO deal. Before buying internals, I'll likely be working on the case itself. I'm extremely jealous of your mesh top panel mod, it is absolutley beautiful. Hopefully in May it will be finished and I can post it up.

Thanks again for the feedback, this might be one of my favorite builds I've seen.

Awesome build, love the paint job, Is there only one rad in there?

xlegendof submitter 2 Builds 1 point 15 days ago

Thank you for the compliment! Yes, there is only one 360mm rad and it actually keeps a 6700K and GTX1080 quite cool.
