Description

1x 480GB SSD as boot

1x 480GB SSD for downloads and game storage

4 dimms of ram to take advantage of X99 quad channel. XMP mode is enabled.

5x Corsair ML140 Pro (1 Exhaust at rear, 4 Intake at front on rad in push pull to maintain positive pressure). Connected to NZXT Grid+ V2 on silent profile. NZXT Grid+ V2 fits perfectly into the corner at the back of the motherboard tray,

6800K has a modest overclock to 4GHz at stock voltage, the Corsair H115i has no trouble keeping it cool. It idles around 30C versus around 40C on the previous Noctua D15.

GTX 1080 is running at stock clocks for now, cannot use MSI Gaming App to enable OC Mode. Will manually overclock the card at a later date.

MSI piston bolster keeps the GPU in place while moving the rig to LANs with friends.

NZXT Internal USB Hub solved the issue of only two USB2 headers on my motherboard (RM750i/Grid+ V2/H115i/front case ports). This will eventually be relocated up to the 5.25 bays with the Deepcool lighting controller to clean things up a bit.

Deepcool RGB kit works well, illuminates the case fully. IR receiver for external remote for controlling lights is secured with double sided tape at the top to the right of the motherboard.

Cable extensions are from previous builds and will need to be replaced, considering a kit of some sort from cablemod or elsewhere. Comment if you have suggestions.

I got a similar build. Love the noctua fans.

What kinda idle/load temps do you get with the fan? (ambient temps too please)

Hey how's the CPU cooler?

Pretty good, doesn't get over around 65C under load.

Are you actually running that ram at 3200?

Defiant submitter 3 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

Yes I am, I have XMP turned on in the BIOS.
