Description

I was recently messing around with an old Pentium 4/6600 GT build and decided to rip out all the old hardware and replace it with something a little more modern.

I already had these parts in my possession (see my previous build) so this was just something I did for fun but I dig it!

Also made a build log on YT https://youtu.be/t4j8tyvDc0Q

That GPU looks like it just barely fit. How are your load temps?

77C on the GPU during gaming

Meh, a little high, but not super bad.

I guess you could try to put back one of the little (what were they 92mm?) fan that came with it as an exhaust and try to draw some of that heat out.

Not ideal as they are above the GPU, but its an easy way to try to make a difference.

I love sleeper builds. And, it's also full AMD!

Great build, enjoy!

Did the cooler come with an out of the box AM4 Bracket and how RAM clearance, do you recommend low profile memory or could I use RAM with a tall heatspreader?

Yes the cooler supports AM4 out of the box. It does not block any of the RAM slots so RAM height was not an issue

how much of a difference is the Arctic Cooler over stock?

vega is out, why not use a vega 56 or 64. Then it would turn into a real gaming machine

Yeah I noticed, I was just making some suggestions on how to make it faster or cooler in my opinion...

Consider the RX 580 is still an awesome card and great price to performance if purchased near MSRP. Its the same as saying why buy a GTX 1060 6gb when the 1070 and 1080s are out? The other parts cx has in the build also makes perfect sense being paired with that video card too.

It was just a suggestion based on my opinion. I realise that the RX 580 is a good card, heck even the 470 can run some games well it's just that seeing builds with Vega is exciting

You made it sound like a PC with a RX 580 can't be a gaming PC because of the video card. Not like he tied in a R7 240 video card, now that was a piece of steamy crap for the money at the time.

O well I had a different connotation to real, not like o it's fake currently but something more like Arnold Schwarzenegger overkill ._.
