Description

This PC was cobbled together from spare parts and new parts. A friend of mine wanted to get her boyfriend a PC and I told her that I could help her out. I had a spare Ryzen 1200, Wraith Max cooler, two 4gb RAM sticks, and a EVGA GTX 1050 3GB card collecting dust. All she had to do was pay for the rest of the build and the monitor.

I oc'd the CPU to 3.7ghz for a stable, safe overclock that should last them a long time. I know that the Wraith Max is overkill for this processor and overclock, but it was not going to get used at all in the near future, so I thought that it would be a nice free upgrade over the Wraith Stealth.

This will be his first personal system so he's pretty stoked! He primarily wants to relive some of his childhood memories through emulators as well as play some FF XIV, so this will certainly get the job done. I attached a Heaven benchmark result (High Textures, normal tesselation, 8x AA) to give you an idea of what this system is capable of.

Looks great, I like the more budget builds on here, 9900k and 2080ti gets really old really fast

Good to see some numbers against a Ryzen gen 1 build, those CPU's are surprisingly capable, even the lowly 1200. I've been acquiring a few used 1400's and 1600's for el cheapo cluster work and they really can get a lot of work done. I like the F2 case as well, excellent airflow and remarkably good included fans at a value price.

Congratulations on building your first computer! I normally don't comment on these types of builds but I wanted to give you a heads up for any future builds. This simply because your cable management for a first timer is great, and the images that you have taken to document the steps are high quality. And I apologise for this comment being to long, I'm in a good mood and have consumed way too much tea.

Hey thanks MrSillynoodle! I appreciate the compliment. However, I think that my title is deceptive now that you've said that. I've built about 7 or 8 systems. The "first timer" in the title refers to my friend's BF. :/ I'll throw a reference in the body of the post so I don't confuse anyone else.

And I feel you on the tea consumption. Just had a bunch of coffee to get me through the latter half of the work day. Almost done!

Well that makes some sense to your properly ordered post. And enjoy finishing your day at work along with that coffe!

fascinating how you had a 3gb 1050 laying around. regardless its a nice computer! I have the same case but in purple for my fiance and its been a good case. Its going to be a fast build for what he is doing and even when we wants to step up to the difficult games he still will be able to run them (well might struggle with red dead 2, but im sure that will get better with time)
