Description

I've always wanted to try doing this,,,and finally got around to it. Winter is coming after all....

CPU- seems just fine, clocked it to 4.2 easy peasy

Cooler- bit loud but works well

MB- No complaints

Ram- um,,32...yeah I know, but a friend gave me the Corsair after I bought the G.Skill, so why not. Its all running at 1866 ;)

HD's- both are fine

GPU's- Started with one and said wth and ran sli. Performance is pretty good with current games. SLI is what it is, good for some games, not so much others. I run Shadows of Mordor, Witcher 3, Metal gear,,all at max.

Case-four stars! Love it. added a strip light, lol-decal (moar bling=moar fps!) and a couple fans..the added fans could be quieter but the cases fans are actually pretty silent.

Drive- its a drive, and it works.

OS- bought 7, upgraded to 10 and like it

Fan Controller- not to shabby. Accuracy of the readouts is not great with my set up, but I could probably place the leads in a better spot. Its consistent tho, so useful. Fan dials work ect.

Monitor- meh, works, but cheap

Looks awesome! That CPU can easily hit 4.5-4.7 if you play with it a little bit. Dual 960 SLI is uncommon.

Awesome build! It looks great. I was wondering why you went with dual 960s instead of a single 980? Similar performance and cheaper, but with option to sli in future. Did you get a good deal on them?

At the time it was cheaper than a single 980 yes.

I would think a single 970 would be the best bang for buck tbh.

Oh, yeah, at the time it would be different, my bad. 970 would be great price to performance

Prices will change, so this build leaves me plenty of headroom for upgrading gpu's in the future.

Least that was the thought.

Yeah, that makes sense

two 960's smoke a 970 and two 4gb 960's beat a 980 most of the time.

Here's a forum on 960s vs 970 Tell syndicate also hasa good vid on it. Mostly it's just that the performance would be a bit better (not smoking if you look at the benchmarks), but some games have trouble dealing with sli, and a single better gpu leaves room for upgradeability.

I like your build. What I don't like is your desk. :)

I just can't feel playing any fast paced competitive game there.

  1. Not much support for the arms.
  2. Quite a limited space for the mouse too.
  3. Wireless mouse. No way! :) I had them a couple of times. Battery goes low always the wrong time. Plus all the wireless other devices might interfere.

You didn't mention any competitive games though, so it should be all right for single player games. :)

Nice build, would change to my rig any time. :)

True story,,,the desk is bad. Just to small. I don't show the chair, its worse. ;(

Mouse and keyboard work well actually, but I have the receiver very close.

XDXDXDXD you can't find anything to hate on, (but this is PCPP come on) so you comment on his poor quality desk. LOL JK but still man it's hilarious.

Really? It's hilarious? The desk your computer sits on is important!

I did not comment for being a hater. I commented on the desk as a criticism to let him be aware of a potentially more comfortable environment to play in.

Actually, he replied that he's be aware of this. And as I mentioned, I like the build. So nope, no bad intentions here.

I think this is the first AMD CPU paired with SLI I've seen...looks cold :P +1

and runs pretty cold too for air cooled.

Thanks to Nvidia's genius for making their GPU's run at bearable temperatures on load lol...I've built with the GTX960 4GB OC really cool.

great to see a 960 sli build now just for mine at new years, i got two msi 960 4gb oc models @$165 each so for me this was the best bung for my buck because it was around the same price as a 970 :)

WOW! $165 ... with taxes in the UK it's £160...gosh wish I had a means of ordering from the States with free shipping and duty..lol

All in all, I'm happy with the sli set up. In some games it can hang with a 980 no problem, but in games with no sli support, its not to useful.

like the whole setup - fits good. Good performance / fps on some good games. Great Job :) +1
