Description

A good friend of mine contacted me about building his twin sons a low cost gaming pc for under $250. They are 11 years old, and this will be for homework, and some light gaming. Minecraft, Roblox, Overwatch, Fortnite, and Rocket League are on their current list of must plays! I gotta say, I overclocked the GT 1030 using MSI Afterburner and squeezed out some really impressive performance on this one. Ran extremely smooth and was getting around 60 fps in all of these games. I think I will try out the GT 1030 again in the near future. Look for more builds and tests to come!

Neat budget PC. I would be concerned with the PSU which isn’t 80+ certified. For most builders, the lack of 80+ certification is usually a red flag of an unreliable and potentially destructive PSU.

You are right about the psu. Normally, I would be worried about it too. However, as low powered as this system is, it's not that much of a worry. I have seen this same psu perform admirably under these same circumstances before.

Gt graphics cards are underrated. I have a GT 640 with a GB of VRAM and it runs everything just fine. War Thunder on medium at 40-50 FPS. Civ VI on medium settings (I dont measure FPS since its a turn based strategy game anyways so it doesnt really matter), Civ V maxed out.

At 221 dollars this is an amazing build!
