This was a fun build I was hired to do. It is used for CPU and GPU rendering for an architect firm I do builds for. We anticipate the move to full gpu based rendering within the life of this system so we used a 1600watt EVGA power supply to be ready to populate this case with 3 more video cards when that happens.
The power supply placement was intentional since this system may be on the floor. I make these systems to be as reliable as possible so I didnt want to chance a PSU filter getting dirty/clogged before the system is maintained by their IT department. During stress testing the power supply fan never kicked on due to the low power draw (see below) but I decided to leave the fan in the performance mode rather than eco mode.
This was mostly a bolt on build except for drilling 2 holes for new standoff locations.
Temps were great with these coolers as well....keep in mine each 12 core 24 thread xeon has a base of 3.0ghz and boost to 3.5ghz, while in the California 80F ambient the CPU temps were 56c/57c with a quiet fan profile. This system on top of thta will be in a climate controlled office so it will not see anything over 74F ambient.
