Description

Hey guys JB here with iKoniK Modz & I'm back with my latest personal build. #ProjectZB7 aka SuperBee

As you can see I based this build around BumbleBee my favorite Transformer! The case modifications were done by me via a dremel, Vinyl, & spray paint. The main things I needed this build to do is listed below. It checks all the boxes with room to spare.

~Play Overwatch, Fortnite & GTA V @ 1080P on Ultra settings if possible ✔

~Run QuickBooks software for my Landscape business ✔

~ Shred video render times for my YouTube channel ✔

~ killer on my desk ✔

So let's break down the part selection shall we. The first pic is an updated pic with my new desktop, new mouse. & mouse wrist rest

CPU: Ryzen 1600X, I was looking to get a Ryzen CPU & stumbled upon a guy selling this on Craigslist brand new for $160 I couldn't pass on that!

CPU Cooler: Fractal Design Kelvin S24 AIO, I grabbed this puppy because I knew I wanted to do a custom loop but wanted to keep my cost low. Since this one is expandable & the pump is in the CPU block it made it a no brainer.

Storage: Crucial MX300 M.2 512GB I wanted to minimize cable clutter so M.2 was the way to go & this was on sale. OCZ ARC 100 240GB SSD is a hold over from my last build & houses most of my games but it's almost tapped out so it will be replaced soon w/ another M.2

Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B350-i Ryzen ITX, It was a Asus board & had all the features I was looking for. Added bonus was the RGB lighting,Aura software & dual M.2 slots

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB, Pretty sure this needs no explanation .... I mean look at that awesome RGB goodness!

Power Supply: Silverstone 700w 80+ Platinum SFX, Since I'm a SFF enthusiast I had to grab a SFX & it was on sale at the time.

Case: Phanteks Evolv ITX Tempered Glass, I originally purchased the regular evolv ITX but then this was released & it was a must have! I used armor etch to add my logo to the Tempered Glass. You can check out the video here https://youtu.be/3OSwXucDu14

GPU: Sapphire R9 380, This is honestly a filler GPU with the current GPU pricing. You guys know what I mean.

Monitor: Samsung CFG70, This monitor is (Almost) perfect. It's 24" 1080p 144hz Curved Quantium Dot w/Freesync. This monitor is the truth! kicks major arse in gaming & gives great visuals for content creation.

Fans: Enermax TB RGB, These were a last minute addition. They were released last week & I knew immediately I had to have them. I was considering the Corsair LL120's but I get 6 of these for less then I would get 3 Corsairs so it's a no brainer. Plus I think they look pretty sick! They move a ton of air and are currently keeping my rig rather breezy! They are pretty freakin' quiet also!

Keyboard: Corsair Strafe w/ MX Silent Switches. Looks great & gets the job done. However it will soon be replaced by a K95 Pltinum w/ Speed switches

Mouse: Corsair Dark Core RGB, This mouse gives me everything I needed & then some. It's overall great for gaming & content creation. The programmable macro keys on the side have come in clutch so many times. Also the fact is wireless means less clutter! I definitely recommend this hotness! Srocker mouse is for late night gaming. So far it's the best silent mouse I have found. It helps keep me from being impaled by flying stilettos @ 1am

Mouse Pad: Corsair MM800 RGB, It's Corsair & matched my RGB setup

Cables: Epic sleeved cables from Ensourced.net .

Headphones: Astro A50 - Black 7.1 Channel Headset - These are another hold over from my last build! There still kicking so I'm rockin' with them til they die!

Headphone Stand: Corsair ST100, Again it's Corsair & matched my setup

Speakers: JBL Pebbles, I saw these & was like perfect! The are by JBL, have a great sound profile & are USB connection.

Webcam: Logitech C920 for streaming purposes!

Reservoir: Swiftech Micro revision 2, I was looking for a small squarish res & this fit the bill perfectly!

Extras: BumbleBee Funko Pop & Soldier 76 Pop

In the end, I am really pleased with this build! Thanks for checking out my build.

A lot of the upgrades will be completed between now & June depending on product release dates.

Do you plan on upgrading anything sometime in the future(GPU, CPU, etc...)?

If so, then what would it be and why?

By the by, amazing build.

Actually I plan to upgrade a lot very soon. Just upgraded the GPU to a MSI R9 390X which should be arriving any day now. Next will be the CPU & Motherboard or the Monitor & Case not sure which will go when just yet. Then my speakers last. I do plan to upgrade the GPU once more when the new lineup comes out later this year. Oh yeah my headphones will get updated to an open back pair as well.

Sweet upgrade path you have there. I like when a builder has a plan. I hope you will have pictures on those sweet upgrade choices when they come in.

This is pretty dang creative... Looks like you did a lot of work and this build isn't getting its credit due I think!!

Great build!

Thanks for the support. Yeah it was a labor of love so to speak. As for getting credit it would have been nice but I’m glad I got to share it with everyone.

Fan-tastic job with the mods and color coordination (yeah... pun intended). Few builds are as devoted to their theme as yours is. Were you able to OC the CPU? What GPU are you targeting to upgrade to when the time comes?

Impressive build, and good deals on a lot of the gear. If I line-itemed everything that attaches on or around my computer (headphones, all that)... I'd probably be very ashamed. You're a brave man with a great setup!

Thanks for the kind words. As for the CPU I got it maxed at 3.9 & I'm gonna wait on the new GPUs later this yr

Wow, 3.9 GHz 6-core R5 isn't bad for $160!

I haven't been following new GPU rumors that well. Has the nxt-gen AMD romor mill been churning? People are talking more about Nvidia but with your Freesync monitor, I was assuming that you'd be sticking with Team Red.

My plan is to stay full AMD. However the RX Vega series of GPU's have been underwhelming to say the least. They were released almost a full year after the 1080 & still don't match it's performance. I personally feel it's a problem & depending on how the next gen cards perform will determine my decision on which team I will use for GPU purposes as my next monitor upgrade will most likely be a 4K Ultrawide monitor!

Whoa. For some reason, I read that paragraph with swelling music building up to a huge flourish at the end at "4K Ultrawide monitor!" That's a grand ambition and makes a lot of sense. I don't know if it's just because I'm too poor, but I'm not too familiar with the 4K scene. Do they have 4K Ultrawides yet and if so, what's the highest refresh rate they come with?

Yeah they do. The one I'm looking at is 43" but it caps at 60Hz. Unfortunately I don't think they have pushed any 4K monitors past 60Hz yet.
