Description

This is my first build. I needed a new machine to replace my eight year old Dell and thought this would be a fun project. I built it for gaming, audio recording, coding, and general nerdy things. I was a little nervous but I think things turned out well. After installing my GPU I did have problems with the RGB lighting but sorted that out after a little tinkering.

Part Reviews

CPU

Reliable and overclocks well as far as I can tell.

CPU Cooler

Runs silent. May upgrade to something more hefty but seems to be getting the job done. Or just add a second fan which seems super simple.

Motherboard

Booted on the first try! Built in overclocking software is super user friendly. RGB lighting looks good as does the board itself. WiFi and Bluetooth built in can't beat it!

Storage

Boots super fast! Not sure if it is much faster than a normal ssd.

Video Card

I was skeptical about purchasing AMD after all the reviews and history I've read. So far I haven't had any problems and am very satisfied especially for the price.

Case

This might seem silly but this might be the most impressive piece of the rig. The case comes with five built in fans (3 w/led) and the dust covers pop out simply and cable management isn't a problem. The plastic window does scratch easily though.

Have you tried to OC the GPU? What did you did with it's RGB? +1

It is overclocked to 1330 out of the box. I haven't found a need to oc it anymore. The RGB lighting problem was due to 2 competing softwares after installing my GPU. GPU tweeker comes with a separate Aura control and I think with both the Aura from that and the motherboard installed it caused problems. So I uninstalled both and got the latest version from the Asus website and that seems to have solved the problem.

Does anyone have a 21:9 monitor? Do you like it? I was thinking about upgrading and I am looking at LGs. I like the fact that most of them have a split screen function. Thanks!

Does anyone out there have a 21:9 monitor? I was thinking about upgrading and have been looking at 34" LGs. The split screen looks like a cool feature. What do you think?
