Description

March 2019 is a great time to build a sub $500 build. All parts purchased in February - March 2019. All prices include shipping and tax.

Ryzen 5 1600 - Six core twelve thread "budget" processor purchased at Microcenter for $102.11 with tax. Overclocked to 3.9 ghz.

Asus Strix B350-F - Great overclockable board. Purchased at Microcenter for $79.99 plus tax.

XFX Radeon RX 570 4gb - Purchased used on Ebay. Delivered in perfect condition.

Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML120L RGB - Good little AIO cooler. Keeps the overclocked 1600 to around 60 degrees when under stress. Purchased on Newegg with rebate.

ADATA XPG GAMMIX D10 16gb - 3000Mhz RAM purchased on Rakuten for $80.

Inland Profressional 120gb - Good little budget drive for the OS. I've used a few of these and they never fail. Purchased at Microcenter for $17.00 plus tax.

Western Digital Caviar Blue 1tb - Purchased used on Ebay. Seller accepted my offer. The king of reliable 1tb HDD's.

EVGA BR 450W - Bronze rated PSU for $19.99 after rebate. I'm always on the lookout for $20 EVGA or Corsair deals.

Antec Dark Fleet DF500 - Liked the looks of this case. For $38 Shipped it's a bargain. Wish it had tempered glass...but oh well.

Custom cables - Still to come. Taking a stab at doing some custom cabling. Will update once completed.

Thanks for reminding me how much I overspent on my PC.. really appreciate how nice this build is though.

See, even builds in which don't even reach the $500 mark are able to get featured. +1

Wow! Always love budget builds with real kick to them. The customized theme is awesome, too, really makes the design!

This is a great build, but how did you get that RX 570 for that price?

  • 2 points

Yep. I scout Ebay for RX 570's. I feel their used cost to performance ratio is unmatched.

What FPS does it get?

  • 1 point

Plenty for a 1080p 60hz monitor. Tested Doom at ultra settings with Vulkan and got over 100fps.

  • 2 points

How does it run GTA 5

  • 2 points

Haven't tested, but it should run perfectly fine in 1080p.

I love seeing how much prices have dropped; this is the kind of budget build that makes people drool with envy. Great job, yo

Nice budget build, looks great!

  • 1 point

I have to say I'm really impressed. The value, performance, and aesthetic is excellent especially considering the 500 dollar expense.

  • 1 point

Well, it's definitely safe to assume you can build a streaming + VR gaming PC for this price point.

  • 1 point

This deserves a feature imo, for a such strict budget this is beyond "casual" looks or what could be typically expected in the "low end". Just gorgeous +10!

  • 1 point

Thank you. It just got featured.

Great job truly getting the most out of a budget build! Could you shed some light as you how your GPU backplate, 'Wakanda Forever' lettering, and claw mark 'case shroud' came to be?

  • 2 points

Spray paint, acrylic and vinyl cut with a Cricut Air.

  • 1 point

Perfectly executed theme, with an envy-able budget. Hope it runs well for you, good luck with the custom cables. I'll be checking for updates to see when they are done. +1

  • 1 point

Very clean build, Custom done back plate is very nice, homemade or ordered can I ask.

  • 1 point

Homemade. Spray paint, small piece of acrylic and some vinyl cut with a Cricut Air.

  • 1 point

If I could give you multiple +1's I would. Love the Wakanda/Black Panther theme.

  • 1 point

Very creative! Almost the best performance you could get at this price point! Great job.

  • 1 point

Agreed. I think an RX 580 8gb would really be the best bang for the buck gpu for this build, but I wasn't finding any at a price point that worked.

  • 1 point

I just bought an 8gb RX580 off Ebay for $130 after shipping and tax, but a 570 is still good especially for $80.

  • 1 point

So a $480 build with good specs got featured! Im happy about this commuity and bruh you got some real sweet deals on some of the parts. Congrats!

Like I said - it's a really good time to build a 1080p build.

$17 for an SSD is hard to believe if you don’t include taxes in the price

It was actually $18.37 with taxes.

Still, not bad for an SSD

fark man great build looks way more expensive then it really is great build man blows my mind how impressed i am at this build more so then the super high end expensive builds mind BLOWN!

If you start hearing ticking drom your PC in the next year your AIO pump likely has air in it. I had that happen with my ML240L.

Good to know. I can always slap the wraith spire cooler back on if that's the case.

Figured I'd save you the confusion I was in while figuring out why I was going insane.

  • 1 point

WOW.....I like what you did there with this build! Price to performance, I am really liking that!

+1, but honestly I wish I could give you a +10.

Well done!

Can this rig run games like Shadow of War on high or at least Mid settings in a stable framerate?

  • 2 points

Yes. It can run it on ultra settings at about 40-60fps. Turn down some shadow and a couple other settings and it can run 60-70fps consistently.

  • 1 point

That PSU isn't very good

Definitely would have went with the stock cooler and bought a better PSU.

  • 1 point

Really? Because it got 4 1/2 out of 5 stars on Amazon with 3,300 reviews with 75% giving 5 stars. I know it's not EVGA's higher end PSU's, but seems perfectly fine so far.

  • 1 point

Consumer reviews mean nothing about the actual quality of a PSU

Its not the worse budget PSU, but its nothing amazing

You are getting exactly what you pay for, and a 3 year warranty on a PSU nowadays is bad.

Does the Dark Fleet come with the fans that are pictured? Otherwise +1 on the great build and congrats on the feature!

That price tag though... Unreal.

Seriously, I can't believe how far $500 can take you with a pragmatic mindset and some patience. Happy to see this featured, very cool!

  • 1 point

Sick build man! And congrats on the feature! I still haven't uploaded mine because it's quite the story, and the changes as well. Once I finally replace my 24-pin, I will post it, along with my son's, which I have been working with for a while now!

Could this build be compatible with the Ryzen 5 2600?

  • 1 point

Absolutely. The Asus Strix b350-f motherboard shown is compatible with the 2600.

  • 1 point

Do you like the CPU cooler? I trying to figure out what kind of fan I should get for my build.

  • 1 point

It's okay. It got kinda loud after a couple hours of constant use. I'd say if you want to overclock to your cpu's full potential, I'd go with something else. I've had air coolers that have worked just as well.

  • 1 point

This build is still AMAZING for the price. I was looking around the internet for steals and got the whole thing for around $400. Is there anything I should upgrade in the PC with the extra cash?

Regardless of the movie & related social media, I'm finding inspiration in your creative & frugal accomplishments. I'm seriously thinking about getting one of those Cricut cutters. You're one of my role models here.

Is the SSD still working?

  • 1 point

I've used this SSD in multiple builds. So far none of them have failed. I've had one of them in my son's system for almost 2 years.

  • 1 point

I'll have to give this a try, looks like a fun little build.

  • 0 points

Those SSD are super unreliable. They "never fail" until suddenly they do. Same-price air cooler would likely perform better.

Otherwise very good

  • 1 point

The Cooler Master AIO is actually really REALLY good. Especially at this price. Not many air coolers are gonna perform better or look better than what he has.

  • 1 point

Yep, checked it out and you're right.

  • 1 point

It also has a 14% 1-star rating, with tons of people complaining that it failed or leaked.

Theme was suggested by my son and his friends....apparently they bought into the propaganda. I liked the movie well enough. It's still an impressive work of moving art that many talented people worked poured their hard work and creativity into.

  • 1 point

Like I said, It's very well done. Impressive work. Really. I just can't stand the propaganda in today's movies and that movie was "look at how stupid white people are and how great black people are". I say, who cares what color we are. And the fact that it won best picture is laughable. I could name 5 movies off the top of my head that are objectively better. The acting in it is to be expected from a superhero movie. It's subpar acting, extremely politicized, and great visuals. But, I'll say it one more time. You did great work. You should do an original trilogy Star Wars one. (Not the new propaganda ones). The new ones are more political than most political documentaries.

I mean, if you admit that you like Trump or are even a Rep. you will be all but black listed from Hollywood. Chris Pratt got in "trouble" for admitting he's a devoted Christian. But, Tom Cruise and John Travolta can get as much work as they want while believing that every cell in out bodies are literal aliens that have their own minds and that some space lizard is going to come and eat us all. LOL.

For real, it's really good work, I just hate the subject. The movie was okay but not worthy of anything more than a "ehhh, that was okay, I guess". One more time, nice work though. I would love to have a PC that looks like that.
