Description

Sorry for the bad images but my camera sux :P

Hello everyone I'm Eilytres or better known as Elly. Here is the story on how this pc came to be.

I started out with my first real stationary back in 2008, i know that was late but i was a laptop guy before that. I came to the sence that i wanted more, i wanted to learn. So i started out with a Phenom 2 processor, i believe it was the 940. I had that and a xfire 4900 series in an NZXT Lexa. It was so much led's and stuff in it, it was crazy.

After about 2 years i got bored with the case and the crossfire didn't work as i wished for. I sold the cards and bought 1 5600 series graphics card from XFX, but that together in a silverstone FT02 chassi (the garbage can looking one). After 1 year i began to have issues with it though, so i started to tinker with it. But alas it didn't want to work out as i wanted, the motherboard was out.

That's when i bought the 8350, it had just come out but a company i've known had gone bankrupt, so i took my chances and ordered mobo, ram and the 8350. It all went to about 20 - 30 bucks (hence the prices on the description being ridiculus).

I isntalled that and in a new case, this time the N200. It went allright for a while but it was an mATX series, the ram that i got was 32gigabytes and it didn't run smooth on it. I knew it was a wild shot to do that so i uppgraded, yet i didn't have that much money so it had to be something cheap. Also, at the same time the PSU blew on me, it was a cheap one. I'm pritty sure it was a Be quiet, really cheap one. So i bought the Corsair RM which I am happy about.

So it was time to get a solid build again, i got the H440, the graphics card and the mobo. Also installed other fans then the ones belonging with it as well as the grid plus fan controller.

Today the system is complete with the things you see here.

I want to tell you all that alot of prices are sales prices and also swedish pricing. Sweden has taxes of almost 3 times as much as america depending on state, so that's why the prices are outragous. Please keep this in mind :P

Today i love wireless so i keep things as much wireless as possible. At the moment i have a wireless mouse from logitech and the rapoo wireless mechanical keyboard which offers me alot of quality for it's prices. If you want to know more about the build, then please contact me!

32GB of RAM but only a R9 270x?

What does the amount of RAM have to do with the GPU? He probably wants to do video editing or multitask or he's just crazy hehe.

Video editing requires a good GPU...

  • 1 point

Yeah I agree, but I think he's doing 1080p and the 270x is fairly good for the price. I'm saying, his GPU is decent for editing and gaming. The CPU is good for rendering.

I'm a streamer on twitch.tv/eilytres. the gpu works well for my three screens that i have out and the video editing is nice with this card. also it was on sale so i got a good price for it ;)

the MSI 270X OC edition is the best bang for your buck video rendering GPU out it renders a 30 min 1080P video in 15 to 25 minutes depending on the FPS you Recorded it in

Yeah here's the deal, i found this company who went bankrupt. So they sold these for 100 bucks. and back then 16 cost like 120 bucks. so if i could save 20 bucks and still get ridiculus ammount of lags then why not lol? :D

You built a nice rig. It's the way you wanted it. Don't let any of the comments bother you. R9 is a good video card. I have a similar build with AMD 8350 and 32 GB RAM. Not a gaming machine, but probably be more than adequate. For everything else it's blazing fast.

People are entitled of their own opinion :-) I love amd and i don't want intel to get all of the market cause that wouldn't be good for anny build enthusiast!

I didn't think this would get so popular, LOL i will set more pictures and stuff up asap! :)

Great build.

I'm sure you had a reason for all these parts, my guess is several monitors and some entry video editing, graphics, etc.

People can screw off with all the hate, no need to be so harsh.

Also, that is an extremely clean looking build!

+1

Thank you and you're right, I'm streaming on twitch.tv/eilytres. The card does decent there for the work i put it up to but i need more now that the games are geting into "next gen" we'll see when i can get money to uppgrade ;D

bad prices, and some questionable decisions in this. Would you mind giving an explanation for your selections?

When i set this up, the swedish store Inet.com wasn't selectable. so i didn't care about the prices. I didn't check if i could edit them to cause it would be a pain to re-calculate everything from swedish crowns to dollars / Euro

Nice clean build! I'd say if you priced teh SSD better and got that RAM down to 16gb you could have sprung for a nice 280x or a GTX 960.

Either way, looks way clean

The ram was bought before the graffics card due to a company geting bankrupt. I got the mobo, ram and cpu for like 200 dollars all together :P that's why! ^

looks good, just confused with the ram choice, and please add a description. nothing worse than a crappy description.

Hey everyone, thanks for commetning! i did not know it would get this much attention! I will update this place really soon with a short story to how this pc came to be. Also i just uppgraded my cpu cooler to an x60 kraken so pics on that too! =)

Yeah, let OP spend hundreds of dollars on X99 that he could not put into something that he needs or wants, DDR4 offers miniscule performance improvements (only really lower power consumption and higher speeds, but again, speed makes little difference) and then spend a lot of money on DDR4 which is expensive right now. Also, maybe OP didn't need a GPU that goes for over-1080p gaming? All this AMD hate is incompetent.

  • 1 point

It's not AMD hate. I love there CPUs, like the 8350, but the pricing of the build just isn't right. The GPU upgrade is there because I assume they could be doing some animation or something, where the extra hyper-threading makes a big diferrence.

I love my cpu, but the mobo i am dissapointed at, it overclocks very badly so i'm hoping to get some asus boards installed soon. Or perhaps geting the new MSI gaming board which clocks good. Thanks for commenting! :-)

  • 1 point

That motherboard has 8+2 Power Phase deisgn and it overclocks very well. Maybe you got a bad chip? Update your BIOS to the latest version. Otherwise, I have no idea why that board would overclock "very badly", it is a well regarded board and I have build twice with this board, no problems. The VRM on this board is good, you should've have problems overclocking. What are your OC settings?

  • 1 point

Maybe i should revise it. I tried overclocking even to 4.3 following the main guides out there (teksyndicate made a video of just this board or if it was UD5 i can't remember but i followed their settnings and did not get the same results even in lower ghz)

I will try during this week to overclock it again and if i fail i'll post the settnings here! Would be cool to get feedback.

Sure thing dude!

Go over to /r/Overclocking if you need help overclocking your 8350.

What if they cannot afford x99? Just because it exists does not mean everyone can afford it.

  • 1 point

I know, but I think most of the benefits outweigh the bad, assuming they are doing intensive editing, or something.

  • 1 point

I would love an x99 but as you say, i cannot afford it. The 8350 does it's work great with all the multiple applications i use while gaming/streaming. Over all i have the best pc at my university (even though some are using intel) because of what it puts out with when i'm programming, streaming or gaming. I know an 8350 is nowhere close to an x99 and i would dream to have one but 2 problems: 1 the price is about 3 times as high as an 8350, 2 that mobo wont fit into my h440 the way i'd like because it is to wide. So i choose to stick with amd. :-)

" even the entry-level hexa-core Haswell-E CPU is much better than the FX-8370 " This guy is a genius.

I know lol. Intel-fanboyism at it's finest. If you said the lowest end i7 (maybe a 4770k or a 3770k) sure that is a realistic buy for many people. Not a 5820k lol. The 32gb of RAM still comes in handy for video rendering, but what do I know, I have an 8350 ;) (JayzTwoCents covered this topic sooo long ago and there' still ignorance spreading around haha).

  • 1 point

What I'm saying is that the pricing of the build just doesn't fit. I'm not an Intel fanboy, but it is true that the Intel has better performance. The 32GB of RAM would assume they would fine the upgrade to X99 beneficial.

  • 1 point

The reason for the ram uppgrade was due to the fact that i got it for 100 bucks from a company shutting down. Also the 8350 does well with more ram channels to go through. If i could get 4x rams with 16 gigs in total i'd rather go for that but at the time the cheapest 16 gig ram was 120, which means i got 32 gigs of ram for 20 bucks cheaper then 16 :-)

Good build btw :)

Who said it was for gaming?

Nice blind AMD hate man. I don't understand why the 32gb of RAM but still, his PSU is fine and his build is alright otherwise.

  • 0 points

No where in that comment did I see him hate on AMD. He suggested Intel as an alternate, but didn't say anything insulting. Take a chill.

  • 2 points

Hating on the choice of his CPU... you're right it was sort of an overreaction. Still, it's not a bad gaming PC, especially considering games are using more cores now. And it over clocks great.

  • 2 points

I would have done it differently, but he still came up with a nice system. I'm sure the owner will have many good times on it.

  • 1 point

I don't like intel. I agree that htey are better but i am a fanboy myself ^ I know intel could give me more and i know intel would be more stable with cool things. But i just love the overclocking and the fine arts of amd. the company has led me down alot during the last year but i really hope they get back like they were on the Phenom2 times!

I agree about the PSU and SSD, he spent way too much. A 750 Watt EVGA G2 is cheaper and would serve better :)

  • 1 point

The evga wasn't out in my country when i needed a psu, i couldn't wait either because my old one blow upp, lol.

  • 1 point

CPU, MOBO and RAM was for 200 bucks, as said above. That pricing was increadible and that's why i got it. after that i bought the chassi, graffix and ssd :-)

  • 1 point

This build had to cover alot of different aspects, video editing, gaming, programming, The prices here are not realistic because i bought mine in of a swedish suplier and i didn't check if i could edit the prices. I love my pc and it has done me well over the year I've had it now.

I know that was a fail of a buy lol. I can get a 240gb 840 Evo with basically the same performance, for $130 on a site like Newegg. This guy made some bad choices in terms of where he bought his stuff. At least the PC looks nice :) lol

The prices aren't exactly acurate since I am from sweden and the stores didn't exist on the page. When i bought the 128 it was still a rather high price :P
