To be fair to this unit, its a great part for someone making a low/mid range rig with no plans to upgrade to anything high-end later on. Its semi-modular, which is very nice, and I haven't had any issues with mine. That said, if you're building something where you want better quality, the CS550M regularly goes on sale for less than this, has a higher efficiency, and is generally built better. And if you're going for a system that needs more than 550 watts, do yourself a favor and get a good unit, preferably Tier 1 or 2 on the Newegg PSU Tier list.
reliable & semi-modular
This thing needs to learn how to be quiet..
In retrospect, I really wish I had gotten the Corsair CX600M instead of this one. There isn't anything terribly wrong with this one, it's just that the Corsair CX600M is about $20 cheaper. My main problem with this one would probably that the molex cable is much bigger than it needs to be and I wish that it came with a smaller one as well, but it still is decent unit. I just really don't get why it is more expensive than the CX600M. The CX600 has more wattage, it's made by the same company, heck, it even has a better 12V. If someone could enlighten me on why this is the case, that would be great.
Never a hitch; very reliable.
Great power supply for small purpose personal PCs
Update - 24/10/15: For the past two weeks I was having trouble with the system not functioning well until I restarted my computer 1-2 times (games and videos running at about 3 FPS). I was puzzled as to why this was happening so today I went onto Tom's Hardware. A guy told me that it sounded like a PSU related issue and to take out my graphics card to see if the problem still persisted. So I did. Well guess what? He was right. It worked. There was no more taking about 30 seconds to boot up, in fact it took about 5! As well as all my games were working fine (of course not as well as with DGPU when it was working well)! I shall be getting a new PSU ASAP.
Hasn't exploded yet!!!
