UPDATE #2 Hue in ! - Sleek! Black and Red Gaming Build

Description

Hello, First thing I’m going to say is that English is not my first language so sorry any grammar mistake and stuff that don’t make sense while you read I will fix this description as much as I can ? comment bad or good let me know If I can do anything to improve or if I missed something in the description .Thank you So I built this computer mainly for gaming since I work all the time I got tired of xbox and ps3 and I dint want to buy an xbox one or ps4 for at least 3-4 years so I decided to build me a pc I knew that a built computer was going to be cheaper and better than the one you buy already made , plus games choices and a lot cheaper …Anyway I went with the H440 because I fell in love with the black and red i my head was saying was ( that’s my case ! ) I waited 2 months for this case because the first one came with a broken side window ? the H440 not only is sleek but is everything I want from a case from no optical drive to the PSU cover that don’t shows cable much clean, so wow ? a case came with 3 intake fans 1 exhaust fan which is nice, included with the case 1 hub for additional 10 fans minus the 4 that u have to plug in. MOBO I went for the Asus Maximus VI Hero mainly for color and brand name so I got the color covered and the good brand too! It turned out to be extremely good it does support sli or CF so its future proof unless I decide to go 3-4 way sli.

CPU I went with the 4770k which is an exceptional CPU, really fast you can game or use the hyper thread if u ever need it. I didn’t go lga 2011 because components price and plus the 1150 seems to be staying where it is for a while so I will upgrade mobo and cpu later if I need to. For overclock I dint need too for now but I’m looking in to it, especially because it’s something that requires time which I don’t have lately.

CPU Cooler I wanted to go with the Corsair h110 I wasn’t sure between this , the X60 or the H100 but I wanted to be sure so I went with a dual 140mm radiator even if I knew was an overkill.

VIDEO CARD I Liked The asus non reference design the color was great the 780 performance satisfied me but I couldn’t max out all games, so to be sure I went sli after 4 days “not that you have too” but now it’s so cool to not worry about fps and settings never going below 100 plus future proof I know these card will last me for a while and I’ve them “ underclocked” having them at 76c temp target, before I went sli I researched for those 4 days, people that were for and against sli, mainly because settings and game not supported and 2nd because the High Temps. So i decided to jump in the sli family and 2nd factor hit me! top card went all the way to 90c, also because my MOBO is a 2 way sli , it doesn’t leave a lot of space between cards…In high graphics game my pc transforms In to a heater and also Really loud for the fan being at 100% all the time so it was time to fix the AIRFLOW , I went for the corsair sp120 high performance I’ve 3 on top for exhaust they’re off most of the time they only kick in when I game to get all that hot air out together with the sp120 In the back and pulling fresh air in from the front mounted h110 in push/pull configuration using 2 AF140 quiet edition and the 2 stock 140mm. The connection I made for the fans were a bit tricky I was trying to find the best way to control them so it could stay quiet almost silent actually while idling thanks to the sound dampening material inside the panels ,and be an airplane while gaming (its loud but a good loud , not an annoying loud) , the 2 140mm stock radiator fans are PWM and are connected to the CPU_FAN header using a y splitter so the Fan Expert App can see them as one and control them as a single fan. The 2 AF140 Pushing are at full speed and also really quite connected to the fan hub , the h110 pump is connected to CPU_OPT so it’s a 3 pin and it run at full speed plus I can watch it just in case it die on me at least I know.

SSD + HHD I went for the evo 240gb for my programs and OS since the price performance was better than the PRO series, its fast, reliable, and …that’s it it’s an ssd really simple for my gaming collection I‘ve the WD BLUE I’m going to use this one temporarily to upgrade later with a WD Black for gaming and keep the blue for photos, music, etc.

RAM I bought 2 stick of 4gb at first they were coming with ups day I was supposed to get all my parts but I ended up getting everything but the ram, I was pissed so out of impatience I went on amazon bought another set to get here the next day so I could start my build …and that’s why I’ve 16 now, so for everyone that’s going to say if you bought 2x8 would’ve been better and cheaper…..here’s the explanation.

PSU I went with a 1000w EVGA Supernova it has a eco button which turn the fan on at 40-45c so it’s quiet and also platinum energy efficient , plus I ended up really needing it because I went sli. What else……

The OS is Windows 8.1 so far so good it’s quick and clean, getting use to the Tablet interface but it’s cool.

KEYBOARD + MOUSE it’s built really sturdy, it’s simple no led backlight no numpad, looks good its mechanical with cherry blue I like the clickyness , paired with the Logitech MX Performance, a mouse that I owned already before the built, its laser and wireless so I didn’t feel the need to upgrade.

MONITOR I went for a strange ratio 21:9 I liked this 2560x1080 resolution so I bought this screen and let me tell you something I will never go back to a regular monitor. I mean all my games are compatible the only thing not compatible are cinematic but I don’t care about them , having so much space to work on the desktop, comes with an app where you can split the screen in 4 6 8 …so you can organize it the way you want it.

HEADPHONES Best headphones ever…they’re light, with a clean sound and also…..RED ?

HUE LED So led Hue controller was a bit challenging but with a little bit of thinking I was able to snug it on top of the hard drive mounted on the bottom (ill provide a picture) and facing forward I secured it with 2 screws using the existing holes for the 120mm fan, was a little risky because I had to poke in the front face of the hue but it’s really simple built mostly plastic so I just had to make sure to not hit any components while screwing , it works really good and its really bright all I have to do its snap the front panel and change color and since I’m there clean the magnetic air filter.

So at the end I’m satisfied I look at my computer before I sleep (I’m not weird) just like I do with my car so that mean was a right buy, I don’t regret any parts that I bought, didn’t have any problems with the build Beside trying to fit everything in the back it’s a lot of cables to fit in the back and cable management was challenging but the h440 helps a lot.

Update- Hue led strip install pictures :) next update Red Sleeved power cables so i can get it all pretty in the back 2 !

Great idea placing the Hue in the space of that fan!

Norm101 [2 Builds] 3 points 6 months ago

I was going to say the same thing. Really Clever!

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 2 points 6 months ago

Thank you ! at first i was putting it sideways but then i was like wait a minute this is perfect - all ive to do is snap the front panel and change the color ! :) i had too screw them in front tho so if i ever want to use that hue on another case will show the holes... but whatever i like this case too much

AlexVsGaming 2 points 6 months ago

Was it hard to install the HUE there?? I'm getting this case but i really want the HUE as well

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 6 months ago

if it fits it sitz ! not really just use the 2 120mm fan holes to screw it in place the only downside is that you will mess the face of hue up :( but if you dont plan to change case its a little sacrifice ...but all you have to do is snap the front cover and change lightning or clean the air filter :D

Sezmic 2 points 6 months ago

I'm thinking of using the HUE too with the H440 and I love your placement of it. Do you think it would work if I used velcro with double sided tape? :) that way if I want to use it again I could take it off and clean it with rubbing alcohol or white spirit.

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 6 months ago

yea definitely :) mine was already good without any screws, so Velcro will be way better !

KernelKaramilk 1 point 5 days ago

Now that I think about it...you COULD place a DVD drive there...

St0zzer 4 points 6 months ago

Awesome Build mate one of the best I've seen in a long time :)do you mind putting a picture up of what the back cable management is like to show how you've fit both the hue and a 3.5 HDD in the bottom???

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 3 points 6 months ago

as soon i get off work ill snap some for you

bsvihrajr [1 Build] 3 points 6 months ago

Looks great, can't wait for description. If you mounted the H110 in the bottom slots of the front, would you have been able to use the top 2 hard drive bays?

Edit: Example with a 240mm readiator: http://www.hardocp.com/images/articles/13950714965WLItlQlgs_5_26_l.jpg

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 6 months ago

Thank you ! i didnt need too beacuse my ssd is in the front and my wd blue is mounted on the bottom if i would add another that looks like a great idea :)

Adaole 3 points 6 months ago

Nice looking build. That case is loaded!

Polishrob [1 Build] 2 points 6 months ago

Great looking build! I'll probably upgrade to the same case down the line after looking at this beauty

atomicruns [2 Builds] 2 points 6 months ago

Awesome build, man! I have a very similar build (style wise - much less performance). Love the H440!

I just put the H100i in my build last night (will update pictures soon) and mounted it like you did (top). I didn't have room for my third 120mm fan on the right side, though. I made it fit by jerry-rigging it with zip ties, though. How did you get yours in?

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 6 months ago

ive 3 sp 120 for exaust( sli gets pretty hot without exaust) on top and the dual 140mm h110 in the front for intake with a push/pull,on the bottom ive the wd blue and on top of it the Hue that sits on top of him screwed in the front using the holes for a 120 mm fan

Grizzlyx [1 Build] 2 points 6 months ago

Great job.. The Red/Black is a classic cool look.

d4v0 [1 Build] 2 points 6 months ago

plgdg [1 Build] 2 points 6 months ago

Superbly done. The only thing ruining it is that tacky SLI bridge lol. Awaiting a description!

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 6 months ago

i know :( ive a black asus bridge but is too short :(

plgdg [1 Build] 1 point 6 months ago

JJnotstrike [2 Builds] 2 points 6 months ago

Beautiful build. I'm looking into a black/red setup for my next build. This is excellent!

White_Recluse 2 points 6 months ago

This is an absolute dream build for me. It's awesome how you have an evo instead of the pro because the evo has a better price/performance, a wise buy instead of just going with the better read/write. I also love the ATH M50(s) which have been my first choice for headphones even if they aren't amazing for gaming compared to some others, they are another great price/performance (especially for music). I also already own a stick of Ripjaws X because it is just majestic ram: great timings, 1600, 4GB each stick, it is just dream ram if you don't need more than 1600 and are fine with 4Gb per stick. I already plan on buying that keyboard because it is a very fair price. I imagine the sexy looking H440 is doing wonders for you as well.

Great choices all around, perfect build. Props to you sir.

Catalyzer [1 Build] 2 points 6 months ago

WOw ! Amazing build. 3000 $ , shites ! :) Gr8 build bro.

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 6 months ago

8BitPhoenix [2 Builds] 2 points 6 months ago

Wow! Just wow! Great build, even better pictures! Can I ask what camera you used? Hope the build continues to to well for you! +100 haha

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 6 months ago

Thank you :) its a rebel t1i with a 50mm lens

SentinelFPS 2 points 6 months ago

Is it worth putting fans in the front if it has that metal door? I mean I don't see where cool air is drawn in from on the 3 front fans.

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 0 points 6 months ago

I was skeptical too but nzxt thought about it,the fans are not thirsty of air at all they are more than able to get air in, they have an open space on the bottom of the front door and the whole side is perforated. all my temps are good :)

Draxorz 2 points 6 months ago

Just out of curiosity, the case wires did you have one not plug into something? I can't figure out where it plugs in... And my nzxt logo isn't lighting up.... You plug the case molex cable into the mobo? Or it's own psu cable?

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 6 months ago

straight on one of the molex of the psu :)

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 6 months ago

let me know if u have questions i know there is not a lot of support around this case yet !

ThatUncoolGuy 2 points 5 months ago

Amazing, just amazing!

Nice Clean build, very powerful as well and very high quality!

Great job building this little monster of a machine. :D

JayFragz 1 point 6 months ago

So the af140's didn't change your thermals at all considiring their airflow purpose? (It' T. Brown from amazon btw).

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 6 months ago

i got the Af140 because the stock 140 on the h110 were loud at high rpm and will make rattling sound so with the push pull i can run them all 4 (2af140 and 2 stock ) at min speed but get the rad really cool i get 28c on idle and 46 max on load even after hours playing the a f140 run at 1000rmp and the stock I've them at 700rpm

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 6 months ago

correction stock 140 at 700rpm (slowest speed) and a f140 at max speed connected on the hub at 1000rpm can't hear them at all so quiet

WarrenG 1 point 5 months ago

Hi angelgtc87

Thank you for sharing your build. Where did you buy the red sleeved power cables?

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 5 months ago

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 5 months ago

thanks, means a lot :) ive spent a lot of time and money on it so i appreciate your comment !

impulse2010 [2 Builds] 1 point 5 months ago

Nice build.. If you take a very damp paper towel you can get those hand prints off the case.. That's my only complaint with my H440 case is the easy hand prints lol.

aggronapkin 1 point 5 months ago

MKBHD fan?

masrawy_remix 1 point 4 months ago

How is the mouse in terms of comfort-ability ?

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

i had it before ... so didnt have the need to change it, so i guess is pretty good.

Mach9 1 point 4 months ago

Good build! I hope you are planning to add more moniters or the gpus r overkill lol

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

yea i know its more than i need but if u can why not....

IPROXGio 1 point 4 months ago

Thank you for giving me my inspiration for my first build. Really nice build I love the different colour and the whole build. The really deserves a 1+

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

thanks it was an inspiration for u !

lightdark64 1 point 4 months ago

idk man, im not digging that sli brige. Also thats a big ass monitor u got there. I guess dual monitors are just not for u.

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

trying to find a black bridge and for the monitor i know its unusual but i love it !

alia 1 point 4 months ago

this is the best build I have seen on pcpartpicker.com

angelgtc87 [Submitter] [1 Build] 2 points 3 months ago

i found it at a local sams club :) thanks !

Necessary 1 point 3 months ago

Hi. I'm going to get a NZXT Red Sleeve LED Kit. What length would you recommend? 1 Meter or 2 meter? I'm getting the same case as yours. +1

iPhotek 1 point 3 months ago

You could go with the hue and fit it in the bottom, but if you're going for one select colour scheme then you probably need a 2m, the HUE Cable looks pretty long in this case and if you look behind the tray wall you can see some more tucked behind it. Just a guess, I don't have it, but I will.

rayne13 1 point 3 months ago

How many HDD's and SSD's can your current configuration fit? Difficult to see from the pictures.

iPhotek 1 point 3 months ago

Well the ssd minimum he can fit is 2, because of the PSU Shroud, with the rad and the hue, I Think its 3-4.

rayne13 1 point 3 months ago

Actually looking back over it, it seems you can do 2 SSD, on top of the shroud, and 1 HDD or SSD underneath the Hue.

iPhotek 1 point 3 months ago

Yeah, that's what I was saying. The hue is on a bottom of the case, there's no tray but you can fit a HDD or SSD there if its empty. Above that are 4-5 trays, with the rad taking up one that would take it to 4. Maybe 3 if its that big.

The rad goes om the front panel, taking up a HDD tray, just to clarify.

rayne13 1 point 3 months ago

Oh, so wait, the dual 140mm rads only take up 2-3 of the HDD trays? From how it looked, they took up nearly all of it, and the Hue took up one as well, making it 5 trays taken. I wish OP could do another pic of his HDD setup so I could see more clearly. Or maybe you have this and could show me?

iPhotek 1 point 2 months ago

Oh dude my bad! I didn't notice he had a H110, Thought he had just a single rad, I apologize.

So with the H100, I presume it would take up 4 trays, and then yes, the HUE Taking the bottom tray would leave one. Which means either 3 SSD's, or 2 SSD'S and 1 HDD. (SSDS on the shroud)

Again I apologize, My mistake for not noticing.

rayne13 1 point 2 months ago

Haha not a problem. It's good to know I can fit what I need there.

captainwaffles 1 point 2 months ago

This is a great build i am actually looking for the parts similar to this one.I love the case and the NZXT hue so i was wondering where you put the liquid cooling (on the top, in the front?) and where you put the HDD? Also did you modify the NZXT Hue in anyway?

iPhotek 1 point 2 months ago

The 7th picture shows the cooling mounted vertically in the front taking up a few HDD bays, and the hue was simply screwed in by the looks of it. The overall size of the hue it small, it's only a small part, but as its meant for a drive bay, the overall size of the cover is big. But I recommend searching the web for images, then you'll understand what I mean fully.

apexgamerx 1 point 2 months ago

Is there any other GPU you would recommend cause ive ended up with almost the exact same build as yours now im just looking for gpus. I play League, dota 2 and Call of duty and want to play them at max settings and i want my system to be future proof. So does anyone have a graphics card in mind or should i just go with what you have but i know nothing about sli or what it does so.

rayne13 1 point 2 months ago

There is no such thing as future proof, but if you are in the market now, you are best waiting until the 800 series comes out. Essentially, with the new 800 series, it will be a long time until a game comes out that you cannot play at max settings on 1920x1080p. What this builder has is something to play max settings at 1440p. Decide what type of gaming you want to do and what res, and then decide there. If you want even higher res, such as 4k, then you will need titans in SLI because of the amount of vram required, and even then some games will be at 30 ish fps.

apexgamerx 1 point 2 months ago

New 800 series?

rayne13 1 point 2 months ago

Yea Nvidia is launching it's new series in September, with the higher ends to come out in November.

iPhotek 1 point 2 months ago

Last time I checked them games aren't demanding, so it can't be that hard to find a decent gpu.

IMANice16 1 point 2 months ago

BEAUTIFUL, I'm so jealous

HAWAIIAN_THUNDER 1 point 2 months ago

Do you think you can put a disc drive there, or mod one on somehow?

iPhotek 2 points 2 months ago

Maybe in the spot of the hue, the H440 doesn't have any drive bays and if I'm correct the Hue is the same size as an average disc drive, so i think its possible, but i wouldn't do it personally, i think it would rattle about too much as you wouldn't be able to fasten it very well.

CrazyCroak05 1 point 2 months ago

You should have gotten a NZXT Kraken for your CPU cooler, they are compatible with your NZXT HUE so you could change the color on the water block.

How do you like the case, I'm thinking about getting it

How did you install your OS?

iPhotek 1 point 2 months ago

He probably installed it via USB since there is no way of using a disk drive.

CrazyCroak05 1 point 2 months ago

He could have used a USB disk drive :P

iPhotek 1 point 2 months ago

Point taken, but I presume he would of mentioned it in the description. None the less, it's possible.

alfiejames19 1 point 1 month ago

Whats the size of all the fans in the case?

Laen 1 point 21 days ago

what length LED strip are you using?

achilesse 1 point 12 days ago

Where does your HDD go?

xLeon 1 point 2 hours ago

Nice build man!

+1
