Hello, First thing I’m going to say is that English is not my first language so sorry any grammar mistake and stuff that don’t make sense while you read I will fix this description as much as I can ? comment bad or good let me know If I can do anything to improve or if I missed something in the description .Thank you So I built this computer mainly for gaming since I work all the time I got tired of xbox and ps3 and I dint want to buy an xbox one or ps4 for at least 3-4 years so I decided to build me a pc I knew that a built computer was going to be cheaper and better than the one you buy already made , plus games choices and a lot cheaper …Anyway I went with the H440 because I fell in love with the black and red i my head was saying was ( that’s my case ! ) I waited 2 months for this case because the first one came with a broken side window ? the H440 not only is sleek but is everything I want from a case from no optical drive to the PSU cover that don’t shows cable much clean, so wow ? a case came with 3 intake fans 1 exhaust fan which is nice, included with the case 1 hub for additional 10 fans minus the 4 that u have to plug in. MOBO I went for the Asus Maximus VI Hero mainly for color and brand name so I got the color covered and the good brand too! It turned out to be extremely good it does support sli or CF so its future proof unless I decide to go 3-4 way sli.
CPU I went with the 4770k which is an exceptional CPU, really fast you can game or use the hyper thread if u ever need it. I didn’t go lga 2011 because components price and plus the 1150 seems to be staying where it is for a while so I will upgrade mobo and cpu later if I need to. For overclock I dint need too for now but I’m looking in to it, especially because it’s something that requires time which I don’t have lately.
CPU Cooler I wanted to go with the Corsair h110 I wasn’t sure between this , the X60 or the H100 but I wanted to be sure so I went with a dual 140mm radiator even if I knew was an overkill.
VIDEO CARD I Liked The asus non reference design the color was great the 780 performance satisfied me but I couldn’t max out all games, so to be sure I went sli after 4 days “not that you have too” but now it’s so cool to not worry about fps and settings never going below 100 plus future proof I know these card will last me for a while and I’ve them “ underclocked” having them at 76c temp target, before I went sli I researched for those 4 days, people that were for and against sli, mainly because settings and game not supported and 2nd because the High Temps. So i decided to jump in the sli family and 2nd factor hit me! top card went all the way to 90c, also because my MOBO is a 2 way sli , it doesn’t leave a lot of space between cards…In high graphics game my pc transforms In to a heater and also Really loud for the fan being at 100% all the time so it was time to fix the AIRFLOW , I went for the corsair sp120 high performance I’ve 3 on top for exhaust they’re off most of the time they only kick in when I game to get all that hot air out together with the sp120 In the back and pulling fresh air in from the front mounted h110 in push/pull configuration using 2 AF140 quiet edition and the 2 stock 140mm. The connection I made for the fans were a bit tricky I was trying to find the best way to control them so it could stay quiet almost silent actually while idling thanks to the sound dampening material inside the panels ,and be an airplane while gaming (its loud but a good loud , not an annoying loud) , the 2 140mm stock radiator fans are PWM and are connected to the CPU_FAN header using a y splitter so the Fan Expert App can see them as one and control them as a single fan. The 2 AF140 Pushing are at full speed and also really quite connected to the fan hub , the h110 pump is connected to CPU_OPT so it’s a 3 pin and it run at full speed plus I can watch it just in case it die on me at least I know.
SSD + HHD I went for the evo 240gb for my programs and OS since the price performance was better than the PRO series, its fast, reliable, and …that’s it it’s an ssd really simple for my gaming collection I‘ve the WD BLUE I’m going to use this one temporarily to upgrade later with a WD Black for gaming and keep the blue for photos, music, etc.
RAM I bought 2 stick of 4gb at first they were coming with ups day I was supposed to get all my parts but I ended up getting everything but the ram, I was pissed so out of impatience I went on amazon bought another set to get here the next day so I could start my build …and that’s why I’ve 16 now, so for everyone that’s going to say if you bought 2x8 would’ve been better and cheaper…..here’s the explanation.
PSU I went with a 1000w EVGA Supernova it has a eco button which turn the fan on at 40-45c so it’s quiet and also platinum energy efficient , plus I ended up really needing it because I went sli. What else……
The OS is Windows 8.1 so far so good it’s quick and clean, getting use to the Tablet interface but it’s cool.
KEYBOARD + MOUSE it’s built really sturdy, it’s simple no led backlight no numpad, looks good its mechanical with cherry blue I like the clickyness , paired with the Logitech MX Performance, a mouse that I owned already before the built, its laser and wireless so I didn’t feel the need to upgrade.
MONITOR I went for a strange ratio 21:9 I liked this 2560x1080 resolution so I bought this screen and let me tell you something I will never go back to a regular monitor. I mean all my games are compatible the only thing not compatible are cinematic but I don’t care about them , having so much space to work on the desktop, comes with an app where you can split the screen in 4 6 8 …so you can organize it the way you want it.
HEADPHONES Best headphones ever…they’re light, with a clean sound and also…..RED ?
HUE LED So led Hue controller was a bit challenging but with a little bit of thinking I was able to snug it on top of the hard drive mounted on the bottom (ill provide a picture) and facing forward I secured it with 2 screws using the existing holes for the 120mm fan, was a little risky because I had to poke in the front face of the hue but it’s really simple built mostly plastic so I just had to make sure to not hit any components while screwing , it works really good and its really bright all I have to do its snap the front panel and change color and since I’m there clean the magnetic air filter.
So at the end I’m satisfied I look at my computer before I sleep (I’m not weird) just like I do with my car so that mean was a right buy, I don’t regret any parts that I bought, didn’t have any problems with the build Beside trying to fit everything in the back it’s a lot of cables to fit in the back and cable management was challenging but the h440 helps a lot.
Update- Hue led strip install pictures :) next update Red Sleeved power cables so i can get it all pretty in the back 2 !
