Description

This is a build for a friend that we built last night. It twas very fun and a new experience for him. He wanted to help out so he helped install the CPU cooler (I needed help:) ). This is mostly for gaming and light work in Sony Vegas so we went ahead and got an 8350. Same processor I have and we also got the same motherboard and case as me. He doesn't plan on overclocking but we got a Hyper 212 just to keep the CPU a little but cooler under load and quieter. He only needed 1 TB of storage but wanted room to upgrade to an SSD. G.SKILL is great for RAM and this was the some of the cheapest RAM I could find. We got the R9 280x because he wanted great performance for 1080p gaming. He plans on playing BF4, Black Ops II, and Minecraft. The PSU was a little pricey because I wasn't thinking at the time of making this list. We could have gotten a higher wattage Bronze PSU for the same price but this works perfectly fine. We also got a little creative and used the velcro straps that came with the cables as cable management straps. He wanted Windows 8.1 and his dad was able to get it free from his work. He is gaming in his basement so he needed a wireless adapter. The TV is 1080p but he plans on getting a new monitor. It is 32". He bought the Logitech G100s because he liked how it looks and he likes using it. He just had an e-machines keyboard laying around but he also plans on getting a new one. He has a Tritton Warhead headset that he likes using but he also has a pair of Turtle Beach X11's for backup. Well, this is the end of this build. Until next time!

Wow Nice Build! How are those prices so low??

Just got good deals. Most of the prices seem pretty normal though.

Sweet build, very well thought out part choice. Cable management is great too. You might wanna change the way that cooler is facing, though.

EDIT: Tell you friend to rearrange that monitor setup. Even slightly turning you head like that is gonna be a pain.

I wanted to have the cooler blow towards the back but the way the AMD mounting system for the 212 is set makes it almost impossible to do that.

EDIT: I see that you were able to do it. I will talk to him tomorrow about fixing it.

Yeah. I wondered if it could possibly be the case, but I think yours is bigger than mine.

It isn't the case. I installed the cooler outside the case to have more room. I could probably get it to work. I'll ask him if I can go over to fix it later. Thanks for the suggestion :)

I had my old fx6300 and a hyper 212 and it was facing out the back of the case, installed it like that with no problem.

I'm going to his house this weekend to fix it. Thanks for the info.

Great cable management, great job with the prices, and amazing cable management. My only suggestion is that your friend get a mechanical keyboard and ditch that headset. This is PC gaming, there are so many better options than the Tritton headset.

This is a great mechanical keyboard

This is a nice headset for PC gaming

I'm personally a fan of headphone + desktop microphone setups. If your friend is interested in that then these are great headphones and this is a great microphone.

He was actually going to Best Buy Friday to either get a Razer Black Widow or a Corsair K70. He doesn't plan on getting a new headset though.

He'd be better off ordering the keyboard on the internet because Best Buy normally jacks up the prices on everything. I think they'll price match though so make sure to tell him to find the price on Newegg first so they can lower it.

I'll tell him. Ya Best Buy does jack up the prices. They had the 128GB Samsung 840 Pro for $150 but I was able to price match it from Amazon which was $114.99

I recently bought this HDD from them and it (to my surprise) wasn't overpriced. It was actually priced the same as it was on Newegg.

It all looks good to me, except that 280x, I feel that it was slight overkill for BF4 and Black Ops 2...But hey, it will def. keep his PC up to speed. +1

I'd say the 280x isn't that much overkill but he could have definitely ran BF4 and Black Ops 2 at Ultra with a R9 270x or a 760.

That's why I said "slightly"

The 280x is a better pair with the 8350, than a 270(x) would be.

For those games even the 260X would do excellent with the 8350. Maximum PC reports that a R7-260X will run BF4 on max settings at 40fps. In CrossFire (with Mantle) theoretically it's possible to gain nearly double that... while benefiting from games offering TrueAudio as well. Now they even come with $60 free games, which seems like a better deal if one is concerned with fps per dollar for light gaming.
