Description

Not long ago i posted a water cooled GTX 680 3 way sli build in an 800d. Since then i had the upgrade itch, sold some parts and threw this build together. I am already anticipating the "OMGZ 3 780s for ONE 1080 monitor, but its not just any 1080 monitor it is a 120hz 3d monitor and i love gaming at 120 fps.

Is there a reason thats so funny?

u would play at 4k resolution at ultra settings it will be awesome

Permalink 15 months ago
iiLeGiT101 1 Build -14 points

Yes, because you're getting three GTX 780s just to get 120fps or higher when you could've gotten either one titan, one 780, one 690, maybe even a 7990 which would give you constant 120fps or higher for a long time on highest settings for almost every game. I'm even getting a 144hz monitor and using a single gtx 770 -.-

Permalink 19 months ago
kenh536 2 Builds 13 points

Did you miss the 3d part? 1080p, 3d, 120hz. One titan can only run around 60-70 fps on that. Granted yeah, he could have got away with two 780s, but its not like his budget was tight lol. Excellent build OP. EDIT: Plus he said he wants to add eyefinity, so there ya go.

Permalink 19 months ago
iiLeGiT101 1 Build 5 points

I'm getting a 144hz 3D 1080p 1ms monitor lol. Eyefinity makes more sense, but for a single monitor this is so ridiculous lol.

Permalink 19 months ago
Hakumisoso 2 Builds 4 points

nvidia surround you mean. no eyefinity with nvidia gpus

Permalink 19 months ago
RRRilind 1 point

yes, very late, was just sifting through builds that use the Samsung 840 Pro 512GB, and why does it matter? if he wants really high frame rates on every single game at ultra/max, why does it matter? Obviously he can achieve it with this build so there you go, it met his standards so thats all.

Permalink 2 months ago
Funkbass 1 Build -19 points

It's funny because 120fps is a ridiculous demand for most people, and it's not too different from 60fps, but if you're one of the lucky few who can afford it (like yourself) more power to you!

Permalink 18 months ago
Papajenkinz 1 point

So like 2 grand on gou's?

Permalink 18 months ago
EnsignLedo 0 points

I would just like to let you know, you could've spent $5500 on all this if you looked in the right places. Also, there is almost literally no benefit of 3 780's over 2 way SLI 780s. Even two 780s not OCed could handle every game (obviously except like Crysis 3, Metro 2033, you know), on high settings, no AA. Also, I'm getting a build myself. With all my accessories, I could get two more 780s, and pay $3000 less, and better airflow as well. :P

Permalink 18 months ago
Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 1 point

Just to let you know, the price PC part picker lists a computer at isnt the price i paid for it. I got this computer for under $5000 when it was all said and done, and to say there is no performance increase from 2 780's to 3 is just plain wrong. I had 2 780s in this rig before i went to 3 and there was a noticeable increase in fps. And you could have 5 780's? thats odd. I would like you to post your build that will be so superior to what you see please.

Permalink 18 months ago
EnsignLedo 0 points

If you have that money, what's the point in just getting 780's? You should get Titans if you have that money. 3 Titans are much more powerful than 3 780's. Heck, since you have the board, get 4 Titans!

I'm just saying, if you're spending that much money, especially for looks, it's totally a waste. It's better to get as much performance for your money possible. You probably have enough for 4 Titans if you can get all of this. Also, just to let you know, it's better to run the CPU and GPU on separate loops, especially if you aren't overclocking the GPU's. Honeslty, I'd get a h80 or h100i for the CPU, then run the GPU on it's own loop. You'd get much better cooling (not that you need it for the CPU's since they're not overclocked).

Permalink 18 months ago
Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 2 points

3 x 780s have a much better price to performance ration than 3 or 4 titans. An over clocked 780 is damn near as good as a titan. The GPU's are actually very over clocked at this point and with the amount of radiator space i have the cooling is amazing.

Permalink 18 months ago
BlastXin 2 points

no, the GTX 780 Ti is has faster performance in 1080p or 1440p as long the VRAM is enough. Except you are having graphcs mods and play in surround or UHD, there is no point using the Titan for gaming.

Are those the red individually sleeved cables that you can get from Corsair?

Permalink 18 months ago

Now you can be the first to game on a 4k monitor and still get a good frame rate!

Permalink 18 months ago

but then he will lose the 120Hz frame rate.

Permalink 7 months ago
death12 1 point

You made a monster bro!

Permalink 17 months ago

Do you ever plan to get more monitors. I understand that you like your monitor but a build with that much graphical power can handle a lot more than 1920x1080. How about you grab two more.

Very nice build, very clean. We almost aligned on our parts and construction there!

Permalink 16 months ago
ArrKayCee 1 Build 1 point

Since you're a technician and an amazing comp. builder, I would like to ask if you think it would work to do a build that for now has a Swiftech H220 only for the CPU, and later adding a reservoir, a GPU waterblock and a 120mm rad (to compensate for the GPU)? Or should I just wait until later to go fully watercooled (Right now I can't afford a full custom loop).

Permalink 15 months ago
Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 1 point

How many GPU's will you have in the system? Water cooling is not cost effective unless it is 100% needed. With my 3gpus on top of one another they got real hot so i decided to water cool. A closed loop option like the Swiftech H220 should be more than good enough with air cooling on a single GPU.

Permalink 15 months ago

With all that power, you should update to the upcoming G Sync ASUS RoG 1440P Monitor. It also has a high refresh rate, so I'm sure you'll love it, also, it will use the hell out of your 3 GPU's. Wonderful build.

Permalink 19 months ago
Goku671 1 Build -1 points

what about asus 144hz, i heard both are great but the asus has a 27 in version. I am more of a 1440p kind of guy though.

Permalink 19 months ago
Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 1 point

The asus are nice, i will probably stick with the BenQ since i already have 1 and i know how amazing they are already. And i would love to get some 4k action on this system but i need to win the lottery first.

Permalink 19 months ago
Goku671 1 Build 1 point

haha, your build costs twice the asus 4k monitor. i think its like 3,400 or so.

Permalink 19 months ago
Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 1 point

I meant i wanted 4k surround. Haha

Permalink 19 months ago

The BenQ 120hz monitors are much better than the Asus 144hz. The 2420t is basically the golden standard of 120hz monitors.

my build is going to be 2 780s and i thought that was great. I currently bought one for now because i am 16 and have limited funds. Then i see this and my jaw fell to the ground and cracked my tile.
