Description

Built my dream rig. I'll mostly be using it for gaming and photography.

The monitor is wonderful. I debated between a high refresh 3 monitor 1080p surround or the 3440 x 1440p monitor. Since photography is one of my main uses, I decided the IPS panel would be best for color.

The water cooling is a custom loop with two 240 radiators run in parallel. One rad on top and one in the front.

The H440 is a nice case but the thermals are a problem. When running BF4 in full ultra at 3440 x 1440, it will heat up alot. I have to pull the front cover off in order to get better air flow to keep it cool. This is a little bit of a disappointment since I really wanted a quite computer, hence the water cooling. I might upgrade the fans to see if I can keep the front panel on during gaming.

A few quick benchmarks with a moderate OC - 3dmark firestrike is hitting 18K , CineBench R15 is hitting 176 fps. Yes - I am happy.

EDIT: Per request, added picture of reservoir taken from the back. It shows how tight everything is and how I needed the top bay for a HDD.

Also like to say the 2 SSDs are in a Raid 0 and are amazing fast. Just a few seconds to boot windows.

The cat is just basking in the magnificent light of this machine...

sanchezliny 4 points 11 months ago

Great Build! I'm sure this runs all games very fast and really well. If you don't mind me asking, what do you for a living because it seems like this build was very costly.

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 15 points 11 months ago

Thanks, I'm not rich, I'm just older and at a point in life that I have a little extra disposable income. (engineer btw)

DeltasEcho 4 points 11 months ago

Now I know what I want to be when I grow up :P

Xytrios 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

You've definitely earned it. Enjoy it man!

Life and money are meant to be enjoyed on things like this :D

septiczz 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Nice! What field of engineering are you in?

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 3 points 11 months ago

Civil

septiczz 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Nice!

PacificNic 2 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

I am interested in Chemical but Civil is also pretty cool. Congrats, dude.

Cloud9GraphicsEDM 1 point 6 months ago

Wow, My dad is a Civil Engineer, My dad says it is a very good job! Hope you enjoy it :)

sanchezliny 1 point 11 months ago

Thanks. I was just wondering and I have seen people spend way more on a build but it seems like you did really way.

ITneto 1 point 11 months ago

How old are you? My life plan is to become an engineer and build myself a super system just like you

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 6 points 11 months ago

LOL - how old am I? My first upgrade was to solder additional memory into my Atari 400 computer. Went from 16K to 64K.

ITneto 6 points 11 months ago

I am typing in a Pentium .533 Ghz laptop so, the srtuggle is real. You sir are my insipiration

Norm101 3 Builds 1 point 10 months ago

Ha! I had an Atari 400 too with the tape drive that used cassette tapes. Took 45 minutes to load certain programs and often times it wouldn't load but you wouldn't know until it was "done".

Wow, I feel old now...

Adam_khalfi 1 point 8 months ago

hounestly do you think I should get this case as I would like to run 4k at high-ultra settings and wouldn't want my case to overheat from this case do you think I should consider buying this case and how hot does it get inside the case

Watchful 4 points 11 months ago

BogDog, you have a nice build there. The cat is awesome!

What would you estimate the cooling performance to be? Subjectively, how would you rate the noise from the radiator fans?

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

With the front and top panel off, the two 240s handle all the heat on any game with my moderate OC. Full load gaming I am hitting 50-60 degs on the GPUs, 60-70 deg on the CPU. I could tweek the performance more and probably it would still run cool.

With the panels on, it slowly starts creeping up to 85-100 degs on the CPU. I'm hoping a set of better fans on the front rad will move more air through.

The case is very quite with the panels on and sorta noisy with them off.

Watchful 2 points 11 months ago

Thanks BogDog.

rchar081 2 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

Too me, something is definitely wrong here. On such a mild overclock. you should be getting very low temps even on full load....

Norm101 3 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

The case has notoriously narrow intake vents, which leads to starved radiators.

rchar081 2 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

hmmm I see. I actually really liked that case :(.

IrshaadH 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

Ok, there's no way you should be hitting 85-100 degrees with the panels on and with that kind of overclock. I run a 3570K on an air cooler with a higher overclock and I don't see temps even near 70 degrees. You should check your CPU voltages and make sure they are not too high, because, to me, that seems to be the culprit behind your really high temps.

pegotico 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

the best 120mm radiator fan noctua nf-f12 and if you dont care about noise you can get their industrial black ones (with very high static pressure needed for rads)

BaSkA 4 points 11 months ago

You should really check out other cases!

Careful when running minesweeper, though.

Great build, congrats on making your dream come true!

ProEngPC 8 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

If you do decide to check out other cases, the Corsair Air 540 is really great for dual 240mm radiators.

Veni.1 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

Gotta love a build that has a cat. :)

DeSwaqMasta 2 points 11 months ago

Wow helluva build

infinitemerald 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

I give this build 12/10, it looks byoodeefoul.

Too bad to hear the H440 isn't giving as great as cooling performance as I thought it would; it has quite the feature set and looks though.

If you're willing to get a different case, you can always ask us ;) Have fun with the build :)

build.a.pc 2 points 11 months ago

Get two or three noctua industrial ppc fans at 3000 rpm. Those will cool off that case with no problem. If noise is a concern go with the PWM one or the 2000 rpm one.

atomicruns 2 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

This is beautiful.

TheGreatJoshua 2 points 11 months ago

AAHHH, I thought it was gonna be a mineral oil build :( Still cool build though.

LeMonarque 3 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

Is that an HDR shot in the second to last picture? It's a pretty awesome picture! Nice build

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

I originally thought I would have to but got away with a single shot. I shot the picture in RAW and was able to massage it in LightRoom. Highlights cranked down; shadows and whites cranked up; touch of clarity. I got plenty of noise due to the dark shadows under the table but figured PCpartspicker images are so small that a little noise reduction would be all I need.

TilarP 2 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

What kind of frames do you get with those Ti's? I'm about to SLI my 780's and get this exact monitor. I'm hoping they won't struggle too much. Thanks.

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

You'll be fine with SLI 780s with this monitor.

TilarP 2 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

That's what I wanted to hear. I was considering the 2560x1080 version, but I think I'd rather save up the extra $300-400 and get this beast.

Thecautiousone 6 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

I do like the build. I wanted to pop in because of your temps. 2 x 240 Rad should be fine for your setup as far as heat dissipation (I am sitting next to the 270 Proton Pump/Res XSPC Combo with 10 compression fittings, 10ft of primo chill 3/8 " ID 1/2" OD tubing, EK Supremacy Plexi CPU Block, just missing the 360 V3 Xspc Rad) You have 3 components to 4 x 120 rad (120rad per component) But my opinion would be your fins per inch compared to your fan speeds. Are you running a 20 fpi vs 1100 rpm fans?? I know you said It was in the "Kit" but I was just wondering. I planned on just using my 360 V3 rad for my processor untill I get a 780 Ti EVGA block so I can get a custom water block for it. Still then with my 360 I would only have 2 components being cooled. Let me know. Love the Red build. I am building right now in a 750D Corsair and my 270 Proton is 1' Tall!! I am a little nervous.

FlyzoXP 2 points 11 months ago

How about a mouse pad for that table?

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Its on its way

Trinity596 3 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

can you show the locations of your pump and reservoirs? i tried watercooling in an h440 and it was too much of a hassle for me

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

I added an image showing the location of the pump/res combo

Trinity596 3 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

thank you very much! you definitely did it justice. great job :)

j0e652 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

Just have to sleeve those cables then it will be perfect =)

Blackie_Sheen 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

REally nice build you got there. I am not an expert but you might consider changing the orientation of the fan on the back to make it an intake fan in order to feed the fans pushing air on your top rad if you haven't done that already.

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Thanks for the advice, I might play around with it.

Forester 2 points 11 months ago

You win.

jstar 2 points 11 months ago

Oh my...god...

JJKnight 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

+1 simply cus fav color.

tpb1908 2 points 11 months ago

That monitor looks amazing!

jacwa1001405 2 points 7 months ago

+1 for the cat

RogyAcnodnem 2 points 6 months ago

get some noctua industrials they push soooo much air and have wicked high air pressure. +1 for cats

wubley 1 point 11 months ago

Is there any reason why you didn't use 360mm radiators? Were there clearance issues? Btw lovely build, especially that monitor. +1

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

I could have fitted 360s (at least one, maybe two) but I needed the top bay for my HDD. I wasn't sure how I was going to fit the reservoir/pump inside and didn't know if I could use the bottom drive mount.

jacobs4525 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Really nice looking build man. I'm debating on whether or not I should save up and build a water cooled PC, and you may have just helped me make up my mind.

jeslinker 1 point 11 months ago

Are the led accents on the Maximus VII Hero noticeable with other components and led accents placed elsewhere in your build? Just want to know for my build, like noticeable through the window, and if the light is getting drowned by other accents? Thanks, and absolutely gorgeous build man, im in shock :)

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

The board does have some led accents in different spots. The most striking is the heat sink on the z97 chip set, but having two graphics cards does obscure it a bit.

jeslinker 1 point 11 months ago

Sweet! i was hoping they were noticeable! The build quality on that board is good i presume? I can read all the reviews i want, but its nice to hear that coming from someone that owns it! And the H440, you have some criticisms on it, but what kind of a run down can you give me of it, pros and cons wise?, thanks so much :)

PacificNic 2 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

I can't tell, did you mount the pump/res to the front rad? Did you have to drill holes in the mounting plate?

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

I mounted the the res to the front drive bay panel using the supplied risers. If you look at picture #4, you can see the 4 silver screws. Yes, I did have to drill.

gammin1234 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Because the title said "underwater" I thought it was going to be a $4,000 oil cooled P.C but it is cool anyway :D

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

LOL - I absolutely hate every chair I get at first. Over time, I get to like them. This chair is still kinda new to me, but its starting to grow on me.

XperiaHD 1 point 11 months ago

I plan on using this case with a Sapphire r9 290 (non-x)and it says this: http://prntscr.com/4fny3a

can you remove the 1 or few of the hard drive bays to make enough room for the card to fit in? Thanks!

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Yes - all of the drive bays are removable. I took all but one out. Most likely you'll only need to remove one.

[comment deleted]
SlevinK 1 point 11 months ago

BogDog, how did you get all the lights to be red? I'm curious because in other images posted by other users the lights in the case are white and the XSPC blocks are blue. I like how it is all red and am wondering how I would go about doing the same thing. Thanks! Love the build man!

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

The XSPC lights for the cpu, gpu and reservoir where all blue leds. I just bought red leds and swapped them out.

SlevinK 1 point 11 months ago

Ok cool! Was it a relatively easy process? I've never done that before. Thanks for answering my questions :)

Xylazine 1 point 11 months ago

That's the IKEA Galant desk right?

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Yes - one of the last ones. They are replacing the Galant series with something new.

Xylazine 1 point 11 months ago

They have a few at my local ikea, is yours 63in long or 47? I don't think I can wait for them to replace these because I need a new desk BAD.

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

63

JJMed 1 point 11 months ago

LIQUID NITRO!!!!! :D

Navim 1 point 11 months ago

Good build sir, maybe your are getting hot temp because in your custom loop u made the exit of ''hot'' water that came out of the CPU go straight into the GPU's whichi might be adding up the temperature instead of cooling down... I might be wrong must probably but i think it makes sense..

Cloud9GraphicsEDM 1 point 10 months ago

Is there an optical drive already installed?

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

no optical drives.

Cloud9GraphicsEDM 1 point 10 months ago

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat ;-;

JustAnotherGamer 1 point 10 months ago

clap...clap...clap

mariothetec 1 point 9 months ago

you should buy an amp for those headphones

JustAnotherGamer 1 point 8 months ago

Hmmm... good build, but I think it needs more red. JK, this is a freakin' epic build.

@Electrick 1 point 8 months ago

DAMN

THAT CHAIR IS HUGE!

@Electrick 1 point 8 months ago

WOW

THAT CHAIR IS HUGE

M3RICA_ 1 point 7 months ago

+1

That's all I'm gonna say...

LorenCoberly 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

something is wrong with your temps... i am running 4.9ghz on my 4790k and temps are at 86 Celsius under heavy load the fans in my case are all stock. look to make sure you are not feeding you cpu to much juice, also make sure that there is nothing restricting the airflow in our case if things get in the way they can easily cause cooling problems, one more thing... make sure that all your front case fans are pulling in and your rear and top fans are pushing out.

MRE_Teck 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Dat is one beautiful system

00cxhatch 2 Builds 1 point 4 months ago

That monitor....... Sooooo nice.

certifiedneto 1 point 4 months ago

Awesome table where can I purchase same one?

killermon90 1 point 4 months ago

Nice build and is that an xspc water cooling kit?

pyro57 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

If you want to keep everything cool I personally would have thrown it all into an ATX full tower, more space and better airflow. That's what I do for all the gaming builds I put together if the client can afford it. Plus the cable management on a full tower is amazing.

chessel 1 point 3 months ago

How did you get the LED on the waterblock red? The same kit today only comes in blue...

jpereira95 1 point 2 months ago

Of course you should be happy man!! One quick question, I'm in the process of building one of my own and I was wondering where did you buy the office chair and table?

TheOfficialSkora 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

How is the Barracuda? A lot of people despite the Barracuda and Seagate hard drives in general.

[comment deleted by staff]
TwistyTreats 1 Build -2 points 11 months ago

Why wouldn't you just do a 4k monitor???

MertArm 5 points 11 months ago

Because 21:9 ratio displays are amazing. They're much more comfortable for me than triple monitors and they're perfect for gaming (if you're a maniac for fov) and web browsing. I'd buy one myself, but they're pretty expensive, even for 2560x1080.

istealunderwear 9 Builds 3 points 11 months ago

I personally like these monitors more aswell.

TwistyTreats 1 Build -2 points 11 months ago

but does the price really justify it for you?

BOGDOGMAX submitter 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

It was mostly about the widescreen feel when gaming. I was looking for more peripheral vision.

gammin1234 1 Build 0 points 11 months ago

It is a 4K monitor!!!!

TilarP 2 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

No it's not..

Not even the "4k" monitors out now are. They're all UHD.

JJMed 1 point 11 months ago

: |

4K Monitors have been out now for MONTHS

TilarP 2 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

Did you even read my comment? The monitor on this build is not even the consumer friendly definition of 4k, which is 3840x2160. It's 3440x1440.

If you look up the definition of 4k, the standard resolution is 4096x2160. All of the "4k" monitors out now are 3840x2160. Which is why I said "4k" monitors out now are not even 4k.

Fawkes503 1 point 6 months ago

Nice build and thanks for the resolution lesson.

BenCGF -5 points 11 months ago

People pay way too much for intel. You can get the same amd proccesor speed and all that for half of the price just to let ya know.

kalookakoo 4 points 11 months ago

Price/performance, sure AMD wins. I'd love for you to link me to whatever AMD processor you think is on par with the 4790k at half the price. And for the love of god, don't put a bf4 benchmark up here.

BenCGF 1 point 11 months ago

maybe not in power but the upper tier fx series proccesors are pretty good

misterolion 1 point 11 months ago

To each his own dude. Both sides are good and have their ups and downs.

BenCGF -3 points 11 months ago

I know but money power per dollar is the best for amd.

misterolion 1 point 11 months ago

Alright. I didn't know that. I've been mainly an intel dude.

juheebus 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Intel is beating AMD in the budget categories now too. AMD is rumored to slash prices even further now on its fx chips though. TBH I wish AMD would put up more competition.
