The Black Rose (My first build)

Description

Well I'll give you a brief history of this build. For the longest time my laptop has been giving me constant blue screens for a power serge failure (If anyone can help me with that too that'd be great). Anyway having a macbook for my first computer. It was a reliable yet frustrating computer. For my next computer, I wanted to hop off the bandwagon and get a HP laptop. It was a great computer but again the constant blue screens drove me insane. So I finaly snapped...and killed everyone...Nah lol just kidding. No I finally snapped and gave building a PC a random shot in the dark. It was a shot that ended up teaching me a LOT about the innards of a PC and how everything is needed.

So this is my first build. Not sure what to call it but it was a labor of love. By the way BIG show out to NewEgg for the step by step videos. Helped me a TON. Anyway I originally wanted no LED's on the fans but picked them out anyway. I have the operating system on an SSD, which by the way, flows like butter. I do live in a cramp space so working on this was a pain just deciding where all the boxed before trash day should go lol. Also working on my already cramp desk was a pain. But in the end, I got the computer and learning experience I wanted. I might add a couple of fans and blu-ray reader soon but for now I am very content. This build biased on cumulative time took around 6 hours (Which was spread out about a months for other events) but it is a really rough stab. Thank you for reading.

P.S. Don't think too much about the man boob in one of the pictures hehe. :D

Update: Well let it be said that experimentation will cost some time. I went and bought another set of ram of the same type, seeing as I almost maxing out the original 2

Also I would like to address a couple of issues with the build. First, the cord organization was a pain because I wasn't planning on the cords being as stuff as they were. Frankly I was a bit lucky to get the cords in that fashion. Secondly, going with an i3 was a bit underwhelming for gaming, but the reason I went with that particular chip was because...well...because I went off of a list that told me that it was a good choice for the price. Make no mistake though, I am planning on upgrading the cpu once I know what make the AMD choice listed in the comments better then the i3 or just settle or the i5.

I would like that the people that gave me a 11 thumbs up and the helpful suggestions in the comments. I appreciate then a fair deal. :)

FX-6300 would have been better suited here than an i3... but still a decent machine. Also, maybe a little more RAM.

Yes, I did get two more bars of the same RAM. I saw that it was nearly maxing out on the two RAM I already have. Also I didn't really think about CPU selection until it was too late. Though I might have to go with an i5 later on as I don't really want to replace my motherboard to accommodate an AMD chip.

Sounds good

It looks like somebody needs to do a little cable/desk management.

add room management heheheh :P

Lol yep. The power cords were being a bit stubborn to work with. And yes my room needs to be cleaned. :P

I wouldve gotten a better cpu and get rid of the sdd. You dont really need the sdd in a 1000 dollar build like this

I was more wondering why there was a bottle of lotion next to the screen with the man boobs. Eeeek!

Super sexy build though, can't think of anything bad to say. :D

So you're telling me that cable management is passable in your opinion?

Starlana [2 Builds] 2 points 6 months ago

Passable as in...I really don't give a flying **** about a strangers cables in his computer? Hell yeah it's passable. Who am I, the neat police? Lulz.

Matryoshka [2 Builds] 2 points 6 months ago

Well, if you're thinking of things bad to say, as in judging his computer, yes better cable management would be something to inform him about.

Starlana [2 Builds] 1 point 6 months ago

Oooooh, so this is about thinking of bad things to say? I was thinking it was more of a place for people to show off their accomplishment of building their own computer!!

In that case, maybe he can work on that a smidgen.

Constructive criticism is what I meant. I only phrased it that way because you did.

Starlana [2 Builds] 1 point 6 months ago

I forgot I even said that. I was far more interested in the lotion and man boobs as opposed to the cables. Maybe I was distracted. :D

i would have gone with an amd cpu for this budget, but its a nice build, certaintly a lot better than any laptop at the same price point

issac94 [2 Builds] 1 point 6 months ago

The main build came to be around $700, not great but not bad either. Good Job. Like other said maybe a 6300 would have been better but still good

you linked to the 'thumb' images, which are tiiiiny

Starlana [2 Builds] 1 point 6 months ago

Yeah, I definitely need a better graphics card to see those images...lulz

Nice build! I just went with the same processor myself with intent to upgrade in the future but maaaannn I am getting nothing but hate from the community for it. Strange to see that others who used the i3 haven't received as much flak for it.

Also, LOVE THE ASRock board! I used the Z77 Extreme4 myself. How you liking it? Mine is a dream and a great platform to build off of.

His room is more interesting than his computer... I see a nintendo 64, pikachu pokemon card, minecraft pick, maybe a starfox helmet in the background, netflix dvd case, not to mention the mess. BUT for some reason he has a mug on a coaster. It is a nice budget build though :)
