Case Labs SMA8 Build

Description

My original plan was to switch everything over from my 790D build when I purchased my Case Labs case. (I must say, Case Labs cases, are hands down the best cases made. Yes, they are pricey, but well worth it and made in the USA). That didn't exactly happen as planned I got an amazing deal on some components and basically started over.

I use this computer daily for gaming, folding, and general use. Yes, it is overkill. Yes, I only have 1 SSD drive. I have a network drive that stores everything else.

After a very mild overclock I've managed to get a pretty good score. I'm planning to push the envelope further in the next week or 2 when I have some more time. 3DMark 11 P30530 (http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/8593832)

Thank you for looking.

MOVING ON TO M-TX ONCE THIS SELLS!*

Did you get the idea for this build after watching one of JayzTwoCents' videos?

JLMCS2012 [Submitter] [3 Builds] 1 point 3 months ago

No, I have never heard of that video.

G1d3on 3 points 3 months ago

Watch his project red mist build, it's somewhat similar to yours.

AdjacentMist [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

did you sleeve your cables or are they extensions ?

JLMCS2012 [Submitter] [3 Builds] 1 point 3 months ago

These are extensions. If I change my PSU I don't want to worry about the cables. Haha

AdjacentMist [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

haha same i went with all white extensions where did you get the black grey and white ?

JLMCS2012 [Submitter] [3 Builds] 1 point 3 months ago

Ensourced made them for me.

Dam5968 [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

I'm speachless!!! Well alsmost, I'm a bit of a newbie (1 build) but have looked at these pages fof a while and that is the best cable management I have ever seen. Would love to the 790D your talking about.

Also, "Folding" are you in the science / medical field, sorry it to personal just curious. Your the first Ive seen talk about Folding.

JLMCS2012 [Submitter] [3 Builds] 1 point 3 months ago

Nope, I'm not in either of those fields. I just like to help contribute. I just figured if folding can help people, why not. :)

antiwaldo00 1 point 3 months ago

Could we see your desktop setup/monitor setup?

JLMCS2012 [Submitter] [3 Builds] 1 point 3 months ago

9DeT [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

by far one of the best cable management I've ever seen....

where did you get those ?

the way you've built this, airflow must be close to perfection...

a well earned +1

JLMCS2012 [Submitter] [3 Builds] 1 point 3 months ago

Thank you!
Ensourced made them for me.

Jonzalien 1 point 3 months ago

Very nice and clean build, honestly thought I would have gone with a 4930k. Its half the price and really there's not that big a difference in difference unless you're perfoming tasks like 3D rendering. However, in that case I would recommend you get more RAM. Overall great build +1

JLMCS2012 [Submitter] [3 Builds] 1 point 3 months ago

I have the 4930K as well. I got this at such a good deal I couldn't pass it up. I completely agree, there is no noticeable difference in this 2 for day to day operation. In benchmarks, slightly better, yes.

RishiCHD 1 point 3 months ago

possibly my favorite PC that i have seen...

Henson.conor [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

What did you use to hold the cables in such a uniform position?

JLMCS2012 [Submitter] [3 Builds] 1 point 3 months ago

They are called cable combs. They help keep the cables evenly spaced.

plgdg [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

I tried using one of the lutro0 cable combs in my build, but my power supply (Corsair AX760) has a funky cable setup and pinout (many pins have multiple cables running into them), so I wasn't able to easily attach it (or at all, for that matter). Any suggestions?

JLMCS2012 [Submitter] [3 Builds] 1 point 3 months ago

Look into getting sleeved extensions

plgdg [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

Good call. I don't know why I didn't think of this lol. Sometimes the most obvious answer is the biggest oversight.

JLMCS2012 [Submitter] [3 Builds] 1 point 3 months ago

Lol. Yep I would agree with that.

Euphemia 1 point 3 months ago

Everything is overkill, but everything is so beautiful!Gah, it's too good for me to gaze upon!

chare375 [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

Please tell me you are 4K gaming on a 32' LG monitor lol.....awesome build!

Mr_Anomaly [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

Very Nice but crazy amount of money for a PC.. The case and memory alone is about $1k

Edit: but hands looks amazing

I would say around 6-7k?

really beautiful build :P

JLMCS2012 [Submitter] [3 Builds] 1 point 3 months ago

Yeah I would say a little closer to 6K than 7K though.

mcwilliams117 1 point 3 months ago

JLMCS2012 [Submitter] [3 Builds] 1 point 3 months ago

Thank you!

HRH999 1 point 3 months ago

I have been checking out all your builds and I have to say I would be proud to own any one of them. They are without doubt works of art. Your the master as far as I'm concerned. Do you build for other people or just yourself. I know that might sound silly but stranger things happen than someone owning more than one pc. I am researching my first build and if I can get something anywhere near like yours with my 4grand budget, I'd be over the moon. One word "Fantastic"

JLMCS2012 [Submitter] [3 Builds] 1 point 3 months ago

Thank you very much! Yes, I do build for other people. I really enjoy actually designing, planning & building the systems, so I try to do it as often as I can. Lol

EPICGUY23 1 point 1 month ago

That case makes the 780 Ti's look small...

ThomasAgre 1 point 1 month ago

I have a question about this build, does it get dusty at all? It would seem like it does from the intakes.

Wewum 1 point 17 days ago

Excellent cable management, excellent organization, excellent choice of parts, perfection. All of your builds are awesome. Question: how do you manage those cables?

ImFaux 1 point 17 days ago

+1 looks like www.youtube.com/user/jayztwocents his project "Skunkworks" Nice cable managment!

miikson [1 Build] 1 point 2 days ago

This reminds me of Js2cents build . +1 10 / 10

miikson [1 Build] 1 point 2 days ago

I guess only because of the case though, it is unique to you 4sure.

plgdg [1 Build] -3 points 3 months ago

The only way I could like this build more would be if it was ITX ;)

JLMCS2012 [Submitter] [3 Builds] 4 points 3 months ago

ITX is next. :)

plgdg [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

I'll be eagerly awaiting the post :) Decided on a case yet?

JLMCS2012 [Submitter] [3 Builds] 1 point 1 month ago

Caselabs S3

plgdg [1 Build] 1 point 1 month ago

Very nice. I might be moving my ITX build to the D-Frame Mini shortly :)

Lazerpope 1 point 3 months ago

The ITX form factor only supports 1 PCIe slot, to add one or two more slots the form factor would have to change to a MATX or full size ATX motherboard. (I'm excluding PCIe risers because, ehh, why? and also that it would drastically bottleneck performance.)

plgdg [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

I know...

jimmystempura [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

If this was an mITX build, of course it'll only have 1 PCI-e slot. No gamers would place risers as they are building a computer based on clearance....

SynchHD 1 point 3 months ago

Yeah, but a well done ITX build looks AMAZING. Like unicorns and rainbows and pure amazingness.

plgdg [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

Check mine out :) I'm swapping to rigid acrylic tubing this autumn.

SynchHD 1 point 3 months ago

Loots awesome! I really like the spiderweb thing in the back. +1

plgdg [1 Build] 2 points 3 months ago

Thanks. I like themes :P

The_MuffinMan [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

Guys he was joking because the case is friggin huge

plgdg [1 Build] 2 points 3 months ago

Yea, I'm still not sure why everyone bugged out and downvoted my comment into oblivion lol.

The_MuffinMan [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

maybe they dont get sarcasm?
