Eye Candy: Part 2 - Corsair Air 540

Permalink:   (163 comments)
Description

Hey everyone this is an update to my first build that I completed about 2 months ago: Eye Candy

The parts marked $0.00 are parts that I already had and the parts with the prices are the updates since then.

I'm currently waiting on the mouse and keyboard and will purchase the 2nd 27" monitor in the next month or two.

I haven't had time to overclock yet and will try to do it this weekend.

Thoughts so far:

  • Corsair H100i - Silent love it. Installed 4 Corsair SP120 quiet editions to it. Decided to plug those fans into the motherboard, if this isn't a wise choice please let me know.

  • Air 540 - This case is amazing, tons of room and great for cable management. IMO the best case from corsair with its two compartment organization option. It's also got a tinted window that I was worried at first would be too dark but it's not at all. Silent case regardless of the 8 fans and the H100i. If anyone knows where I can buy another dust filter for it PLEASE let me know as the bottom of this case is basically open.

  • 860i - I purchased this in the event I will SLI in the future, overclock and add more SSDs as needed.

  • ASUS 27" Monitor - I love the look of this monitor. I originally had the 3 monitor setup in my first build but decided I liked one 27" monitor more. I'm assuming I get more than 60 FPS in Crysis 3 but seeing as the refresh rate is 60 mhz I'm not sure I'll get anymore (not too familiar with FPS)

  • Phoyba RGB and Controller - This controller is pretty sweet and comes with a ton of colors. I only showed the white/blue/red/green colors in the pictures however there are a ton more as you can see on the remote and it has strobe/flash/fade/smooth capabilities and I think 8 brightness settings... not sure on that though. The only complaint I have about this is that the connections to the controller and the strips aren't solid and if you wiggle them they flash the lights as if disconnected so I only used two strips as one was very hard to keep lit at all times, so I will use this as a back up in case one of the other two go out for some reason.

  • NZXT Sentry Mix 2 Fan Controller - Love the look of the fan controller, haven't messed with it much. If you're wondering why it costs more than listed it's because I got the cables sleeved red to match (I like to match).

The corsair Red sleeved cables are the icing on the cake.

As you can see on the bottom I mounted the RGB controller as the cable length wasn't the longest and I got impatient with it haha

I will update 3DMark scores/pictures once my keyboard and mouse come in and I get a bit of time to overclock.

Also the speakers that you see are CREATIVE INSPIRET6160 for $79.99

Let me know what you guys think! Please let me know what questions or criticisms you have!

  • Ryne Smith

** Edit: I uploaded 3 pictures of the keyboard/mouse

** Edit 2: Went out and bought a new 27" IPS 1440 x 2560 monitor and another 770

For the fans on the radiator. If you plug them into wherever the spot is in the h100i (Not sure where it is since I haven't put mine together yet) you can use the corsiar link software to control those fans. Really up to you whether that matters or not.

Or than that this is one sexy build ;) black and red is the ****.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 2 points 14 months ago

Cool thanks for the information on that. I'll look into the Corsair link but I most likely won't change where the fans are hooked up unless it would make a huge difference in performance

And ya this build is freakin sweet I love it, can't wait for my 2nd monitor

LeMonarque [3 Builds] 4 points 14 months ago

The difference is that if you plug the fans into the pump block, you're now diverting some of the power from the pump's SATA connector to the fans. That or drawing more power from the SATA connector. You're also now tasking the pump with controlling not only its own speed, but also the speed of the fans connected to it's two headers.

Either way, I have read that connecting straight to the pump can cause the pump motor to grind, which is why I used splitters to power my H100i fans.

ColdELITE [1 Build] 1 point 14 months ago

Huh, good to know.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 0 points 14 months ago

So plugging them up to the pump could actually cause damage? haha no thanks I won't be changing it then!

LeMonarque [3 Builds] 0 points 14 months ago

I don't know for sure if it causes damage. But who needs Corsair Link when us cool cat Sabertooth Z87 owners have Thermal Radar? Amirite? :D

EDIT: Or...or a Sentry Mix 2...

SneakyBastardSword 2 points 6 months ago

get it sabertooth was a kind of cat ;)

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

haha true that :P

mjdd27573 -2 points 12 months ago

I was fixing to say... lmao your last build you had three huge monitors, then when I saw the main photo I saw that you only had one monitor, and I was like... what in the world was going through his mind, lmao.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 12 months ago

Well the monitor I have right now is a $27 inch 2560x1440p monitor that runs about $500 which is why I only have one haha

I would have three in portrait style if I could justify spending the money

yahya 4 points 14 months ago

this is my first comment in this site from one year this is such a great build man ..

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 0 points 14 months ago

Thanks! Welcome back haha

skemble [17 Builds] 3 points 14 months ago

And thus it has been unveiled!

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

Ya haha I've been home for two days sick at work and the parts came yesterday

jekhari.lovett 3 points 14 months ago

Every time I look at you computer the budget for my computer build miraculously increases the day before and then I istantly find something from your build that I want im going to end up broke looking at this computer.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 2 points 14 months ago

Haha dude tell me about it... I really need to stay away from this site.. everyday I'm like... umm okay I'm doing that throws money at computer screen

winstonofwar [1 Build] 3 points 11 months ago

i was going through the pictures and thinking "this is a really nice build!" then all of a sudden "bam" there's that second 770 classified...simply blown away

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 11 months ago

Haha thanks man ya it's a nice build but it cost a pretty penny! Thanks for the look!

joejccva71 2 points 10 months ago

What are your temps both stock and OC'd CPU and GPU? Also, do you know your ambient temp?

albertfarrales1 2 points 9 months ago

You have the best wire management ive ever seen.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 9 months ago

Haha thanks I won't take all the credit though this case allows for very very easy cable managing

pegotico 2 points 5 months ago

have to love this case!!!! I think is one of the best ones out there, cable management is really a joy ith this case +1

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 5 months ago

Thanks!

JoeyThePCNoob [2 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

How is the air 540? That is what im going to be putting my current parts in very soon, so look out for that.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

The case is awesome and I think it's much better than the R4. The airflow is great and I'm very surprised at how silent this case is, you're going to love it!

JoeyThePCNoob [2 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

Great, thanks for the reasurrance. Very Nice looking build. Is that the power brick to the led lights jury rigged on the bottom of the case though?

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 2 points 14 months ago

Ya I did that but you can fit it in the back section. I was just too tired to do it last night so since I've only got one HDD I just stuck it where another one would go haha

JoeyThePCNoob [2 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

Haha nice, I bet that little bit of color on the end of the hd audio connector is bothering you huh.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 2 points 14 months ago

Eh it's alright but now that you mention it I'll wrap it in some black electrical tape and fix that haha

JoeyThePCNoob [2 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

haha i knew that you paid too much attention to detail to let that go unchanged.

JoeyThePCNoob [2 Builds] 0 points 14 months ago

somebody has been down-voting you for some reason.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 2 points 14 months ago

Oh well probably someone I made angry or something for being rude, happens haha

Norm101 [2 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

I noticed that too. For completely innocuous comments. Ah well. I'll duly +1. :)

Mattyice47 [1 Build] 1 point 14 months ago

I see you like white. :)

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

White and red ya haha from my first build but I like red and black more!

Mattyice47 [1 Build] 1 point 14 months ago

It was a joke, but I see I was accidentally right.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

hahaha :P

Cometballer [1 Build] 1 point 14 months ago

Jealousy mode = engaged. The more builds I see with the 540, the more I love it. It all looks so clean and sparkly. Fantastic build!

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

Haha thanks! It's a great case, I personally think it's corsair's best one

blaziecat1103 1 point 13 months ago

What I don't get is how one gets a disc into that DVD drive. Wouldn't it fall out of the tray as soon as you take your hand off of it to let the tray close?

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 2 points 13 months ago

nope the tray is set in a little bit so the disc just kinda hangs on it and sits there haha I was worried about that too

blaziecat1103 1 point 13 months ago

it's magic, you know. never believe it's not so...

BigBAWZ [3 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

+1 for the case. I love that case!

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 2 points 14 months ago

Thanks :) ya it's fantastic haha I wish I saw it when I originally built my rig

UnlimitedPwrCos 1 point 14 months ago

Nice very well put together.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

Thanks :)

timmyd [1 Build] 1 point 14 months ago

Looks great! Love the red & black, I'm jealous about your push/pull config. on the H100i. I wanted to do the same, but my 500R case doesn't have the room.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

Haha ya I had seen it but was worried, it was a tight squeeze but got it!

sketch24 [6 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

Beautiful build.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

Thanks!

ZippyPenguin 1 point 14 months ago

What is that lighting controller kit thing almost everyone has it!

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

It's from Phoyba I have it in the parts list check it out!

Norm101 [2 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

I, too, am hopelessly in love with this build. Absolutely gorgeous all around. +1

How are the Quiet Edition fans on the rad in comparison to the Performance one?

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

Thanks! I've never had the performance so idk. I just went with them as they were the quiet edition and I was worried about noise.

They are great on the Rad I think it's my favorite part! :P

YourLocalPCNoob [1 Build] 1 point 14 months ago

Is that GPU really big or is the case really small?

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

It's a big GPU however the case isn't huge but it's not small. It's basically a cube so it's not as long as others but much deeper

SizzleBoy121 1 point 14 months ago

damn nice.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

Thanks :)

canders [6 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

Nice do over. I liked the original too.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

Ya I liked the original as well I just wasn't satisfied with it. This makes me very happy haha

Silveretta21 1 point 14 months ago

drool

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

Haha thanks.. just don't drool on your keyboard!

LookTopHats [2 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

1 word (kinda) OMG

duramax08 [1 Build] 1 point 14 months ago

Corsair, Corsair everywhere.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

Ya I'm a bit of a fanboy I guess haha

Deathwyhsh 1 point 14 months ago

You make them look so clean dude, very impressed! Especially with the price. Like they look clean and the only reason the price shoots up is because of the monitors (since there are 3) EITHER way, ******* awesome dude.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 2 points 14 months ago

haha thanks

blaziecat1103 1 point 14 months ago

I think you mean 60 Hz for your monitor's refresh rate. The prefix mega- means million.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 14 months ago

Yes ty sorry for that mistake

andrewbourgeois11 1 point 13 months ago

Where is your optical drive?

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

It's the 9th picture, next to the fan controller

andrewbourgeois11 1 point 13 months ago

alright

JamJam21 [1 Build] 1 point 13 months ago

+9000 upvotes arghhhhh such a nice build

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

haha thanks!

kylepatrickswan [3 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

Commented on your other build. The second 770 is a bit overkill, doncha think? Unless you added 2 more monitors on this setup (drooling), the 4 gb in this card would run you fine. I'm running a damn evga 570 2.5gb model on my Korean X-star 2560x1440 monitor beautifully.

Considering you put this build together for gaming, it would be a shame if you didn't record your gameplay. Might I suggest throwing in some more storage for recording purposes? I picked up a 3TB external drive off newegg for $100 recently!

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

Ya I'm going to be getting two more of that monitor and turning all 3 of them sideways and playing that way (I guess my concern on that is the bezel on the monitors being too thick and it being weird to play on)

Any thoughts on that?

As far as recording my gameplay I think I'll have to get better before I do that :P I'm currently playing BF4 and that's going to be my game of choice for the time being. Never played BF3 and I'm used to COD so the game pace/type is a bit different to me

kylepatrickswan [3 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

You would have to go portrait when running 3 of these monitors. No one has the peripheral vision to watch 3 27inch screen all at once while gaming. The bezels are a bit thick, so I definitely would look into de-bezeling. It might be tough, but it'll be worth it. Running 3 of these monitors, your graphics cards will be pumping 11 mega-pixels! I suck at games but still put up some gameplay! youtube.com/user/MrSuperiorTech

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

Haha I realize that nobody has the peripheral for 3 x 27 inch monitors however in portrait it would make it much more bearable to do so

I had 3 x 24 inch monitors in the first build and the peripheral was hard to deal with on those, however I think portrait 27"s would be much easier to follow

Not really sure without actually seeing which would mean I'd have to buy them and check it out and if it was too much return it haha

skemble [17 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

Just noticed the Sli and 1440p additions! This is a monster my friend!

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

haha thanks!

Ya in hindsight I would've gone SLI 780s as it's only about $200-$250 more than my sli 770s however I missed the date for the step up program for EVGA so I just went ahead and SLI the 770s

I love the monitor and I will be getting two more and playing BF4/Crysis 3 in portrait mode on the monitors... gonna be sweet. Just waiting to sell off my old parts to cover one monitor and then waiting on my next check in a few weeks for the 3rd... then it will be complete for a long while haha

skemble [17 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

The 770s are beasts and you may need the extra Gb of VRAM to drive triple 1440p. Did you find a sale on that monitor or get it used? That's a damn expensive piece!

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

I actually bought it from microcenter for about $700 but I swapped out my old monitor for it so only paid the $400 difference. I'll buy the 2nd two offline for about $500

skemble [17 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

That's a pretty good deal really. Some of those IPS panels cost a ton! I was cheap and risked going with a Korean one, but it worked out fine for me.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

Ya I looked a those but I didn't want to risk it. I would rather go and check something out in person first if I'm able to and then make a decision.

I was originally going to go with the this monitor : http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-monitor-pb278q

But Microcenter didn't have it on display so I chose the Dell one. The dell one has an 8 ms response time vs 5 ms on the ASUS but I don't think it'll make too much of a difference to me honestly. Plus I didn't need the built in speakers on the ASUS monitor

skemble [17 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

That was the one I wanted as well. The $550 price tag made my wallet/gf mad :(

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

Eh my gf didn't like me spending this much on my system and still doesn't like that I'm getting two more monitors but it's my money right now... we aren't married and aren't living in our own place at the moment so I'll do what I want! haha

skemble [17 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

Same here. As long as I build her something to play Sims 4 when it comes out I won't be in the dog house!

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 2 points 13 months ago

Haha aim to please!

ravinz25 [1 Build] 1 point 13 months ago

where is your power supply?

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

In the back part. The 540 air is compartmentalized into two sections so you can hide you psu and all cables back there. There's also a SSD rack back there. I will take some updated pictures in a few weeks with much better cable management/other monitors come in/get time to overclock and do benchmarks

PCModder 1 point 13 months ago

Great build overall man I always like it when people go above and beyond to sleeve the PSU cables(or spend the money to get them done). I few notices however. First Don't you feel that dual 770's is a bit overkill for a single 1440 x 2560 monitor? The price to performance ratio is all off especially since with your motherboard the cards would run at x8 instead of x16 for a single card solution. If you wanted to get a second card and use it to its potential you should consider a second monitor otherwise you are taking a preformance hit on a per GPU basis for the benefit of a larger frame buffer that is not being used. Also I am just wondering what configuration you have those fans on the RAD in(IE Push, Pull, Push and Pull). Anyways good job with the build man. I can tell you worked hard +1

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

Well I plan on getting 3 of those monitors. I've actually switched the Dell one out for an ASUS one which comes in the mail today. In the next month or so I will have 3 of those and will be gaming portrait style on all 3 (as those monitors turn sideways). The monitors are just expensive so I've got to spread out my purchases on them haha

As far as the x16 and x8 from what I've read when running in SLI even if one is at x16 and one is at x8 I might be seeing a 1 or 2 FPS performance hit at the most which in real world use I'm not going to notice much of a difference. I mainly went SLI so that one card didn't have to deal with 3 monitors at 2560 x 1440p.

As far as the H100i I believe this is a push pull setup so someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I read several articles and looked at countless pictures before installing it that way so if that is wrong I'd like to know as well

Thanks for the comment and questions!

exii [1 Build] 1 point 13 months ago

not bad.. not bad^ Hi 540Air BRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 0 points 13 months ago

haha thanks, I saw your build, looks great!

I have plans to water cool mine but not for awhile

Jugeezy 1 point 13 months ago

Where did you get the sleeved cables? Also, would I be able to get a mix of red and black sleeving on one cable? Like a mixture of red and black on the 24 pin for example.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 2 points 13 months ago

Well I ordered mine from Corsair as they have sets of cables to sell.

As far as getting black/red you'll have to have those custom made or you can learn and do it yourself haha

There is a guy on reddit who sleeves cables for philip/manirelli named japetto, you can message him there and he can quote you some prices

Jugeezy 1 point 13 months ago

Thanks!!

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

Np! Have a good day, thanks for the comment!

Starlana [2 Builds] 1 point 12 months ago

W-O-W. I just knew there was something special about you. :)

I'm jealous.

And what a poor friend I have been, taking this long to peep your build out. Sorry about that.

<3 Starlana <3

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 2 points 12 months ago

Haha no hard feelings :P

I really like the build but knowing what I know now etc etc I would have just saved up and done a custom loop instead

spencerharden 1 point 12 months ago

i think u like corsair

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 12 months ago

Just a bit ^

[comment deleted]

wydomkr [2 Builds] 1 point 12 months ago

If you look at my intel 2014 build I'm about to put most of your parts in my pc, did you have any troubles with the 2 770 classifieds or do you wish you could of switched or waited to do something else?

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 12 months ago

Wish i would have waited a month or two as I could get two 780s for the price i paid for those haha

wydomkr [2 Builds] 1 point 12 months ago

if you could go now you would go 780's?

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 12 months ago

Ya but if I did now I'd lose too much money and don't feel like making the switch

dcmabry [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

Really nice build this is something I kinda want to do in the future.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 12 months ago

Thanks!

ExoticGecko 1 point 12 months ago

How do you like those Corsair peripherals? I was thinking of getting the same keyboard but I'm unsure if I should get a Corsair mouse or a Logitech mouse.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 2 points 12 months ago

I love them the keyboard is nice and a little soft to the touch but isn't insanely loud while typing but has a nice click to it and the back lighting on it is fantastic

Condidi [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

Dude also awesome +1. I would make a build every day if i had the money :P

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 12 months ago

Same... Lottery please? haha

jonlaw [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

Looks very nice man! Good parts list too.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 2 points 12 months ago

Thanks for the look!

xPOISUNx [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

100th person to upvote this build. Woot! anyways I love the setup and one thing i would add is a third monitor for more eye candy i guess.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 12 months ago

Haha thanks for the 100th! I want to do 3 monitors in portrait for gaming but to be honest I can't justify the expense at the time being... as much as I would love it.. haha

spencershere [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

I gotta be honest, I think the white looks better. But none the less, i love that all the parts are color coordinated. Looks really clean!! How long did it take you to sleeve the cables?

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 2 points 11 months ago

I actually didn't sleeve the cables haha Corsair sells sleeved cables for the PSUs on their website so I just bought them to save me the time.

I do have plans to give it a go trying to sleeve them myself the next go round though!

Baalinooo [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

What a beauty ! It has everything mine still lacks ! But soon... :D

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 2 points 11 months ago

Haha your build is fantastic and has a better red black color scheme IMO except maybe for the sleeved cables but yes like you said.. soon... haha

Thanks for the look!

Alonminatti [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

are there mounting holes on bottom of the case?

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 11 months ago

Not where the hard drive is

Alonminatti [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

ok thanks i was wondering what you were saying about the drive bays were

Dgo [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

How did you get the af140 to fit on the rear mount? mine will not fit due to the rubber fittings in the corners?

All of the fans are actually 120s haha sorry if I wasn't clear on that!

I used the SP 120 Quiet Edition fans for all the spots

Hey! Just wondering what you think of that mouse? Something you would recommend? Great build btw, +1!

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 2 points 10 months ago

Thanks for the look! I really enjoy the mouse, it's much smoother than anything I've had to be honest haha

Corsair also has a newer version on display at CES if you check in Linus's videos from CES on LinusTechTips

SirFluffy [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

Yeah, I've watched it :) But he said that it was to be realeased in a few months, I kinda need a new mouse now ;P Anyway thanks, I'm starting to love the look of this mouse the more I think about it!

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 10 months ago

I really enjoy it, still getting use to it compared to the crappy 20 mouse I used before but it's getting there haha

How is the noise like? I just noticed that you're using three 120's in front instead of two 140's, plus the push/pull on the radiator. Which setup would cool most effectively (in the front)? BTW I love the build and I'm actually putting together something very similar at the end of this summer when I get the money.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 10 months ago

The noise really isn't bad, most of the time it's a dull lull in the background but I also wear headphones. I'm not too upset if the computer makes noise though so it might be louder than I actually think haha. The H100i pump is actually the loudest aspect of the build as sometimes it will rev up higher than the noise of the fans.

As far as cooling in the front I went with the SP120s and I chose those because they are quieter than the AF series however if you want "max" airflow I'd go with something like the AF from corsair or look at some Penatrator fans from Silverstone. I also liked the idea of 3 fans pulling in air instead of 2.

This...is...beautiful...tears I wish I had that kind of money..

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 2 points 10 months ago

Haha thank you very much!

I was lucky to land a good job out of college that paid a nice signing bonus... meaning funds for my computer :)

I'm studying computers in college. Hopefully I'll get a decent job after I graduate =)

Great build! Just wondering what you think of the phobya lighting setup? LIke how was the setup and lights and all that, I'm deciding between that and the NZXT hue because i want to have another 5.25 bay on my computer open

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 10 months ago

I would go with the nzxt hue, the phoybia connectors are pretty flimsy and don't stay in very well

jacked87 [1 Build] 1 point 9 months ago

I have a question - Do you find the K70 is noisy? My dog hates noise.

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 9 months ago

I mean it's not insanely quiet but I've definitely had/heard louder keyboards. On a scale of 1 - 10 and 10 being the loudest I'd give it a 6 or 7

dan1229 [1 Build] 1 point 9 months ago

How's that M40? I was deciding between that and the Deathadder for my next build and wanted to know how it performs

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 1 point 9 months ago

I like it however I'm not insanely picky on what mouse I use

I've been hanging around this site for a few weeks now ever since I decided to build my own rig for flightsim purposes

I don't know a whole lot about PC building and Oc'ing (close to nothing) but from the little I've read and seen thus far I have to say I'm absolutely blown away by your build. Congratulations man! This is the dream!

I acually fell in love with the Air 540 case some days ago and started looking for a build with the Sabertooth and H100i on that case since I was worried things might not fit or prove to be too much of a hassle for a first time builder. Seeing you get it done has made my spirits soar.

I've already got the PSU (HX750), the Sabertooth, the i7 4770k, the H100i and most of the other stuff. All I'm waiting on now is my GPU (EVGA GTX780 SC with the ACX coolers). And I have to figure out what case to buy. Just so I can go ahead and order my Air 540, can you just go confirm the radiator and fans of the H100 fit hassle-free along with the Mobo and other components? I also have some questions I'd further like to ask you if you don't mind.

But to sum it up, congrats all the way! One helluva job!

RyneSmith [Submitter] [7 Builds] 2 points 9 months ago

Thanks for the look my friend :)

Yes they all fit I had 4 corsair sp 120s on the h100i and it fit, it is a tight squeeze though over the mobo but it fits, just make sure you plug everything up at the top of the mobo first before you stick the h100i in... or you'll facepalm haha

PM me if you have anymore questions

What happened to the Dell monitor? Best Buy is having a sale $549 and I'm shopping. Did you like them?? Buy the way your build is amazing. I hooked up some non-Corsair fans to the top of my H100i so all 4 were intake from out to in the case, but the one back top non-Corsair fan would surge so I powered them off the mobo headers. No surge. Then I got some Corsair Red LED fans and re-did the cables and fan headers and ran all 4 Corsair radiator fans off the two pump headers and redid the Link software and it all seems to be working. Anyway, nice work.

The ASUS monitor was of better quality than the Dell, and had a better response time for gaming

Thanks!

Love the case and the color scheme!

Looking at yellow fans for mine right now, but it doesn't seem like Corsair sells those :( bummer.
